Pros:

Better skin, no weight gain, regular period

Cons:

not until I stop taking it; the worst acne of my life

I was on the pill for over 5 yrs, just stopped 5 months ago. I had no side effects while I was on the pill, but now I have the worst acne of my life. I have acne all over my face, neck and entire upper back. I wish I had done enough research 5 yrs ago before I decided to start taking Yasmin. Ladies, you have been warned!!

Pros:

- Regular, lighter periods
- Mood swings greatly reduced
- Improved skin

Cons:

- Very uncomfortable menstrual cramps
- Gained unexplained weight
- Constantly needed to pee!
- Constipation
- Dry, flaky skin (face, hands, scalp)

After years of grief, I finally consulted the doctor when I was 20 complaining of very heavy, irregular periods, big mood fluctuations and persistent adult acne which was bringing down my self esteem. I was on Yasmin for about a year and it was the first pill I tried. After a few months I noticed that my skin was a lot less oily and much clearer than it had been in years! I was absolutely over the moon. For the first time since puberty I actually an element of control over my menstrual cycle and I felt so much better about my skin. The only downside was that my menstrual cramps had become unexpectedly severe, but I figured I could live with it considering how much happier I was with everything else. Unfortunately in my case, the happiness didn't last for much longer. Fast forward a few more months and I unexpectedly gained a load of weight, constantly needed to pee, was perpetually constipated, and I was plagued by dry, flaky skin on my hands, face and scalp. The dry skin on my face even brought back some of the acne, which understandably was a big disappointment. It was what I was trying to get rid of in the first place! I returned to the doctor to describe my symptoms and he seemed quite surprised to hear about them. But sure enough, once I came off Yasmin, absolutely all of the above problems completely disappeared in under a month. The weight just fell off me. It really was bizarre. To be perfectly honest it wasn't a complete waste of time because I really was content for a few months. I know there are some horror stories on here but if your doctor thinks that Yasmin might be worth a try then you can always dump it like I did, should it turn out not to be right for your body chemistry. As for me, I'm now 22 and still looking for the right pill. I've been given Dianette which could be a miracle cure or complete disaster! Ho-hum.

Pros:

-bigger boobs
-shorter,regulated periods
-effective at preventing pregnacy

Cons:

-horrible mood swings, feeling like crying all the time, stressing over the most irrelevant things
-increased apetite
-bleeding in between periods
-worsened acne
-lack of energy and motivation, feeling tired despite getting more tgan enough sleep!

i have mixed feelings about this pill.i am starting my 3rd strip now and so far,and my skin is experiencing a bit of a rollercoaster ride, with unexpected breakouts in uncommon for me areas like the cheeks which i always had clean.as for me the mood swings are the WORST.they are starting to destroy my relations with my boyfriend and the worst thing is-i just cannot control them. hopefully, these are only initial and both my mood and skin will get bettet in month 3/4!

Pros:

No cramps, no babies, no headaches

Cons:

Acne on my cheeks down by my jawline....hard pimples that are big bumps but dont pop, so they turn into craters because I can't NOT try to pop them!

Pretty good stuff. It's wicked expensive in the US tho. $65 for generic Ocella without insurance. A lot more for brand name Yasmin. I order mine from an online drug store in Canada. MUCH cheaper (about $18 a month for brand name). I used Yasmin for 2 years, but then discontinued it because of the price when i lost insurance. Did Yaz for the past 6 months, TERRIBLE headaches. Back on Yasmin now. Boobs hurt like they never have before, but overall, I'm glad I'm back on it. 3 weeks into the pack, acne isn't terrible, I have had a little breakout, but nothing some makeup can't cover up.

Pros:

Less Mood swings, less Bloating, no acne very clear skin

Cons:

Chronic Yeast Infections, Very Low Sex drive, some weight gain just before period

I used to use Tri-cyclen lo and that made me gain tons of weight, and as well as the yeast infections every month, so i switched to yasmin and altough it is better in some ways i do have to take Preboitic pills while i'm on the pill to prevent from having yeast infections. so these are gone. i have also been taking herbal supplements for the low sex drive and they defintely work! but i'm thinking of getting of the pill all together just to see if my body goes back to normal!!!!!

Pros:

No more mood swings, acne cleared up, lighter periods, no cramps

Cons:

Heart palpitations, anxiety, depression, Insomnia, muscle twitches/nerve twitches, panic attack.

Took the pill for 3 months. In the first month I started to notice I was very anxious. In the second month I had developed heart palpitations and panic attacks at night, and into the third month I could no longer fall asleep due to heart palpitations, muscle/nerve twitches and had become depressed. I stopped taking the pill a week ago. Anxiety has dropped drastically, heart palpitations are limited to just night time, still having trouble sleeping - needed to get a sleeping pill, no longer depressed... My doctor thinks yasmin is unrelated, to the symptoms, but after reading yasminsurvivor forums, I disagree. Never taking Yasmin again. I'm sad because it worked so well on my mood swings and ease of cramps and menstruation. Different for everyone. Can always try and stop if you have the same problem.

Pros:

Increased libido

Cons:

Depressive moods

I have taken Yasmin for at least 3 or 4 years and since splitting up with my boyf, wanted to give my body a break and to see how it really is without the pill in my system so I came OFF it. I wish to god I hadnt!! My skin is SO awful, I feel like crying every single day. Ive avoided nights out because it makes me feel so insecure. I sit at work with people sat next to me, Im caked in make-up, and I can see them scanning my face. This in turn makes me feel anxious & upset, so this is probably adding to things. Im going straight back on Yasmin. Problem is, Im now really worried about what'll happen should I wish to become pregnant. I dont want to look or feel this bad!! Whilst on Yasmin, my skin was never perfectly clear, but it was much better.

Pros:

Drastically reduced oily skin, helped acne

Cons:

While it fixed my acne, it made everything else about my body worse! I had cramps in my legs, couldn't sleep, terrible nausea and migraine headaches, changed appetite, depressed numb feeling, heart palpitation, drowsy

I tried to stick out the bad side effects, because topicals and antibiotics haven't done enough for me, but in the end I just couldn't stand it anymore and went off it. It wasn't worth it. I'd recommend trying it though, because not everyone has side effects, you won't know until you try, and you can always go off it.

Pros:

No mood swings, sex drive intact, no sore boobs

Cons:

Acne

I've just finished the second week on Yasmin and I have 2 huge spots on my chin. Perhaps they would have formed even if I hadn't started taking Yasmin - how long does it take for skin problems to settle down once you start taking Yasmin??? Last pill I tried was Diane and that had terrible side effects - headaches, really sore boobs... and Yasmin is streets ahead - I feel great!
