Pros:

Cleared up 90% of my adult acne within four months, shortened my period to three days with a much lighter flow, and NO negative side effects - no weight gain, no nausea, no mood swings, nothing. And since it works from the inside out, you don't have

Cons:

It took a while to start seeing an improvement in my skin, but the wait was worth it.

It's a fact that most people who speak up about a product do so to complain, while the ones who are happy with it say nothing at all. That is why you read so many negative consumer comments, and why I felt compelled to write about my positive experience. Everybody reacts to any given drug differently, don't let the negative reviews discourage you from trying Yasmin. If you don't like it, stop taking it and try something else. I combine it with Retin-A and I now have better skin than most of my friends who have never suffered with adult acne. PS: I tried Yasmin at the recommendations of many friends who all had the same positive reaction to it - whether they had acne or not.

Cleared my acne - no side affects over 7 years!
I was prescribed Yasmin by my Dr at a relatively young age.. my acne cleared completely and I was on this pill just short of 7 years!! I started experiencing irregular bleeding so my Nurse advised that I may have grown out of my acne by now and to try a different contraceptive pill. I tried two different pills and OMG MY ACNE COME BACK WITH REVENGE! It has had an absolutely devastating affect on my confidence and the Nurse has now put me back on Yasmin (after a 6 month break). I'm now onto my third month and it is slowly disappearing, a lot slower than before though! Yasmin is the only pill / product that works for me.

Long review
I've been on Yasmin (brand name) for 5 months now, starting my 6th pack today. Yasmin definitely has side effects, which is to be expected as it is a hormonal contraceptive. About me: I'm 19 years old, 106 lbs, and have been on & off of the pill for the last 4 years to regulate my periods as well as clear up my skin (mild acne). Anyways Yasmin should be used with caution, especially if you smoke. It can cause some serious stuff to happen to your body. If you are prone to depression, anxiety and the like, I would absolutely NOT recommend this pill. Yasmin has a high estrogen content which in turn can lead to severe emotional issues if you aren't able to properly control yourself. Personally my experience with this pill has been tolerable. At times it has made me extremely angry/irritated to the point where I could blow up on anybody for no reason, and it has also made me feel very low and unsatisfied with myself. The key to dealing with this is knowing that there is nothing wrong with you emotionally and it is only a side effect of the pill - after all it is synthetic hormones! Hormones = feelings. Lol. You have to let yourself know that's all it is. As for treating acne, I believe Yasmin is quite effective. I didn't have any huge initial breakouts or anything (but I have also been using BP for the past year or so). I would recommend you to treat your skin with some type of topical that your skin agrees with before you start any type of hormonal treatment. There is always the risk of an initial breakout, and you really want to avoid that. I started on a pill called Ortho-Cept last year, and had an initial breakout so awful that there is still a few permanent marks & shallow indentations on my face after a year and a half (I was not using any topicals at that time). Well that's all I got, hope this helps. :-)

Hi, this was really helpful, thank you! I too have been using BP for a while but am getting very frustrated with the fact that it never manages to clear my acne and I have a huge breakout a week before my period. Did you have the same and that's why you went on Yasmin whilst using BP too?

Pros:

Gradually Clearer Skin
Bigger Boobs
Effective Contraceptive
Lighter Periods
No moodiness!

Cons:

Worsens Skin At First
Fatigue
Hair Loss
Constant Hunger

So I got Yasmin right before leaving to college so that I could have clear skin to start off my new life. Unfortunately I did not know that the first 3 months of being on this pill made it worse. As soon as I started taking the pill I started to breakout worse than I have in a long time, and this continued throughout my first month. It was horrible, I had huge cysts around my chin and jawline. The second month my acne became less around my chin but it started spreading to my cheeks and above my lip, it was still really bad. The third month it got a little better but I still had a lot of breakouts all over my face. I have been on my 4th packet for a week now and my acne has magically disappeared! Literally, no breakouts, not even a single pimple. The only problem is that I still have scarring from the previous 3 months but I will take that over breakouts anyday! So it really is true, despite becoming frustrated with the lack of results at first, be persistent! As far as everything else, yes, it did make me gain weight. Luckily most of that has gone to my boobs and butt, I've gotten so many compliments on my boob size! I was pretty much flat chested before and now I am at least a B, possibly C. For the first month or two my boobs were extremely soar and tender but now they aren't. So, if my acne stays the way it has been for the last week, I would say fighting through those horrible 3 months was definitely worth it. One side affect is that I am constantly hungry. However, since I have never had a weight problem, the weight gain was actually a benefit since it went to areas in which I was lacking. But if you have a weight problem, I would recommend to stay away. The only side affect that really bugs me is that I am tired all the time. Also, I have not noticed any change in my emotions/moodiness which is great! Also... if you skip taking the white sugar pills and move onto the next pack immediately, you get to to skip your period!

Pros:

Helps with acne

Cons:

I hate having a period every month and I don't think it helps with my monthly flare up acne. I think it makes me more tired around my time of the month too.

I switched from BC that was making me break out really bad to this. So no matter how weird I feel a few days a month, it is worth it to be acne free most of the month.

Pros:

Clearer skin, shorter, lighter periods

Everyone needs to stop bashing Yasmin if they have not used it for more than 3 months. With any good acne product, your skin is going to get worse before it gets better.

Pros:

- cleared acne within the first two months
- balanced hormones

Cons:

-made me feel a bit bloated

I suffered from a severe and random outbreak of acne for the last 6 months. Doctors could not diagonose a cause. The experience was traumatizing. I went on yaz to gear up for accutane, the only solution as stated by my doctor. Within the first month my cystic acne cleared completely. I am still dealing with an occasional breakout on my chin but I have yet to finnish my second month.
