Pros:

Good birth control
Regulates periods eventually
No cramps (eventually)
Bigger breasts (might be a con for some)

Cons:

Awful breakout (hopefully intial)
Bigger, sore, breasts (already had a large cup size pre yasmin)
One month period (stopped after beginning second pack)
Hungry all the time (slight weight gain, 1-2 kilos)- please note, these cravings aren't bad, and easily controlled, i'm just on holidays atm
Possible hair thinning (not a massive issue as i have a lot of hair, but i like my thick hair, so hopefully this isn't an actual side effect and it's just winter shedding/the way i've been

For acne: I had crystal clear skin all through my teen years, one or two pimples a year, until i turned 18 i started having mild breakouts.Started with small pimples in my hairline, spread to entire forehead (though my entire forehead cleared up eventually on it's own) I have no cysts/whiteheads, just very red pimples, they aren't sore, or hard, kind of flat, ranging from tiny pin pricks, to around the size of the top end of a pencil. they can't be popped and will last 1-2 weeks. i get atleast three a week. I have these, on my cheeks, hairline, and around my mouth (starting from corner of lips) i also have pretty bad blackheads around my nose that sometimes get inflamed and sore. So far, the pill has made all this worse, lots more dots, but i'm finally getting heads (unattractive, but they heal faster) i also have pimple like things in eyebrows, which i've never had before. I say pimple-like, b/c they're small, hard and sore, but they're also very itchy. i'm hoping this is an intial breakout. Im on my second month. I WILL write back if/as soon as my skin improves, detailing how long it takes etc. I do believe it has to get worse before getting better though For a pill, it does the job in preventing pregnancy. Being hungry all the time isn't too bad, just need self control, i'm on holidays and have been giving into the cravings, but they're not gut wrenchingly bad. Period pain and month long period first month, but subsides. sore sore breasts, that are HUGE, i have big breasts naturally, so im hoping weightloss will descrese their size. My hair has been falling out alot- but i cannot remember if it was doing this before i got on the pill. For the past three months, i've been wearing it in a high bun, and not using conditioner (very lazy, the bun will stay untouched until i wash my hair, it's also winter) i'll stop this and note if there's changes. it is expensive $25 a month, but worth trying. DO NOT GIVE UP, stick with it ! will re-

Pros:

beautiful clear skin
Balanced hormones (balanced emotions)
Did i mention clear skin?!!

Cons:

Having to remember to take a pill everyday
and if i miss it ill breakout and be emotional.
Its not cheap without insurance.

My skin is perfect aside from a little hyper pigmentation and scarring. I don't even have to wash it. I get maybe 1-3 pimples around my period but that's it. My acne is obviously completely a hormonal issue. This works for me, but may not work for you.

Pros:

-eventually cleared up acne (for the most part)
-regulated periods
-regulated hormones
-alleviated some depression (also began zoloft at the same time, so I am not sure).

Cons:

-took a few months to work
-first month=terrible initial breakout
-nausea at beginning of every active pill pack
- I still get some zits (but that's not uncommon for someone my age)

I began the generic form of Yasmin (Ocella) in February, and experienced a very unsightly initial breakout. My acne had been flaring up since Christmas, which before that it had been good for a few months. Being a small girl I believe this had to do with the fact that I fall in and out of puberty, and around Christmas I got my period again for the first time in about six months. (I'm guessing my skin cleared up because my hormones were at prepubescent levels). Regardless, Ocella began working after the month-long initial breakout ceased. I have been fairly clear since April I would say, with some light markings (I have very easily marked skin) until about July. I currently have two pimples on my chin, and a few tiny bumps on my face (totally not noticeable to anyone but me :p). I can't expect perfection, as I am sixteen and a few pimples are expected, but I am much much happier. It is difficult to say whether this will work for you, as everyone is different. Give it a try, though, and allow it at the very least, three months to work. (You should really be patient and wait six). I shall re-review this in a year to update on any progress.

Pros:

-decrease in unwanted body hair
-eventual decrease in acne

Cons:

-mood swings
-increased apetite
-acne was worsened before it was better
-slight decrease in libido
-the risk of blood clots is worrying (even if you don't smoke)

I had come off b.c for four months and in that time had developed excess chin & body hair and terrible breakouts along my jaw and cheeks, as well as back and chest. Tried yasmin instead, and initially (first three months) my acne became worse, far more cystic and painful. I am on the fourth month now and all of a sudden my face is almost completely clear! And I've noticed it my excess hair is becoming softer and less noticeable! So far I'm quite pleased with this pill, it was worth sticking out those awful three months! My only concern now is of Yasmin being a greater risk than other b.c for blood clots. I'm a non-smoker, but there's still a risk. Not a bad b.c if you're willing to chance it, and wait out that initial break out. Also I found that other b.c pills I've tried (Alesse, Tri Cycline, Ortho 777) killed my sex drive, but Yasmin isn't too bad so far. fingers crossed!

Pros:

Helps clear acne
Less cramps

Cons:

Low mood for first 2 months just before period
BAD outbreak of spots for first 3 packs
Tender breasts
Bleeding during first pack

I had been on Yasmin before and had forgotten about the bad initial outbreak of spots i got- huge cystic ones along the jaw but this time i had them over my forehead as well, somewhere i never normally get them. I'd just get rid of one then overnight a humongous would appear and stay with me for weeks!! This all started after about my 3rd pill and carried on for 2-3 packs. They seemed to take forever to go down and have left me with some scars but after 4 months my skin has improved quite a lot, with much fewer cystic spots and now just the odd small one. I did bleed for the first pack and my breasts were very tender, plus and i really did notice my mood was quite low just before my period. Thankfully all of this has settled now. I must admit, looking back at how my spots were before taking Yasmin and how bad the initial outbreak was i do wonder if it was worth it but i does help eventually. You really need to give it at least 4 months to notice an improvement- don't give up before then!

Pros:

Got rid of my acne on my face in one month
Got rid of my acne on my back in 4months

Cons:

I do occasionally get one or two spots on my back
My period got shorter and less heavier which appears to me not natural

I have been on the pill since May/June (now is Jan 2012) and it really helped me. However I want to stop using and see if can control the acne without the pill. One thing I have to say is that because it worked so quickly and previous treatment did not help one bit (eg herbs, antibiotics, healthy diet, exercise, drinking plenty of water, using topical creams). It has restored a certain level of happiness for me because I was so stressed seeing the scars and constant battle with the acne.

Pros:

Helps acne, eventually. Predictable periods.

Cons:

I remember this from the last time I was on Yasmin - it can take awhile for the acne to go away and will often worsen before that.

I was on Yasmin for 3 years before getting pregnant and it worked wonders for my adult acne. Now that I am getting back on it, I am remembering that it takes awhile to work. I am on the second pill pack and my acne is TERRIBLE. However, I hold out hope that it will improve soon like it did the last time I was on it. Anyone else with similar experiences?

Pros:

Completely cleared up skin!!!
Lessened body hair growth
Slightly bigger boobs

Cons:

Bad initial breakout
Some weight gain
Some anxiety in first couple months

I've used Yasmin on and off for 4 years. Ive come to realize that its the only thing that will keep my skin clear. And it really does. I get maybe 2 zits a month. Yasmin does take about 3 months for your body to get used to it. You are putting synthetic hormones in your body. My initial breakout during the second month was the worst acne I've ever had, but honestly it's totally worth it in the long run. Like I said, Yasmin is the only thing that works for me! Which is why I went back to it after staying off of it for a year.

Pros:

-After IB, kept my skin clear
-Worry free for the year the I was on it
-Rarely needed foundation
-Consistent period
-Bigger boobs
-No bacne
-no cystic acne

Cons:

-Initial breakout lasts about 3 months
-Hair loss
-Gained 5-10 pounds
-Expensive if you have no insurance (70ish at walmart)
-still had annoying tiny bumps on forehead
-My doctor thought the Yasmin may have been linked to why I had been sick so often

I really loved how clear my skin was while i was taking Yasmin! I never thought about cysts, although I did still get the little bumps on my forehead, which I should have got a cream to take care of. My bacne was gone; for the first time in my life i could wear swimming suits without being self conscious. Also, my boobs were quite big on Yasmin. I ran out of Yasmin and 6 months after discontinued use, everything went back to normal. I lost the 5-10 pounds of weight, my bacne started to appear, and acne started creeping all over my face. It's almost been a year off the Yasmin, and my face is pretty bad... Why do I not go back on it? Well the other thing that returned back to normal is my hair stopped falling out. My hair used to fall out like crazy! I would sob about it. Six months off yasmin and that changed. I am currently trying retina a and duac. I may try another BC again. Bottom line is, if you don't get the hair loss side effect, I recommend Yasmin.
