Pros:

Worked like a miracle on my skin. Stopped greasy hair and skin totally

Cons:

Having to fight doctors to stay on it long term

I never had any problems with Dianette. My skin was totally normal but every doctor I see says something different about it. Most are unhappy for me to stay on it long term so keep trying me on other pills which are meant to be good for acne. None have worked. Mr Dr is now getting me to alternate between Dianette and Marvelon every 3 months!!!! Will give it a try but it sounds a bit crazy!

Pros:

worked great for about a year, but seems to be losing its effectivity! Now getting alot of red annoying whiteheads around my mouth and on chin!

Cons:

was very depressed at times, felt suicial somedays. Gave my job up when my spots started to return around my mouth as this felt like a huge blow to my self confidence. Became like a loner in my own home!

Was great for one year - had hardly any spots maybe just one or two that popped up now and again but nothing that I could not deal with! Until I gave up my job and then slowly watched all the spots return around my mouth and chin area and there is loads of them all painful and red and just make me feel so depressed to look at! I gave up my job and stayed at home looking for a new job for 6 weeks - in the 3 weeks went to the doctors and he has given me differin gel for night time use and he gave me duac - which i gave up after a few days and the red, sore feeling was too great. So i went back and asked for antibiotics he prescribed me tetracycline - have been on it for one week not sure if its helping or if i should take with dianette as feel it may knack up dianette from working... really not sure what to do or what to take for my skin! All i know is that it is just annoying to wake up every morning to see yet 7 whiteheads form around my mouth!! just feel so rubbish!

Pros:

Clearer skin, increased confidence.

Cons:

weight gain

Have been using Dianette on and off for almost ten years, have taken my third 6 month break at the request of a doctor. This has resulted in Extreme mood swings, headaches and acne appearing on my face, back and neck. I have never experinced such servere feelings on stopping the tablets before.. Has anyone else experienced this before whilst withdrawing from Dianette? Im truly shocked to read about all the side-effects that people are having and worry that i have ruined my chances of ever having children in the future due to prolonged use of Dianette.

Loved it
I absolutely LOVED being on Dianette a few years ago, it hugely helped my skin clear up. I still had some active acne, but not to the extent I had previously. I did stay on it for 4 years, which is not recommended in the UK because of it's blood clotting issues, however I did not experience any side effects. I have since asked to go back on it, however my GP wants my blood pressure checked again and again to make sure it's low enough to go on Dianette.

Pros:

Clear Skin!
Recommend it if skin is really spoiling your life i.e depression
Once clear come off and try and control it with another pill & Tropical Lotion.

Cons:

Mood swings
You can't stay on it too long as it can cause liver damage

People used to stop me to ask what i used to make my skin so clear. I am now on Cilest, i now realise my mood swings were due to Dianette as i feel so much happier now i'm off it, if i didnt have the acne ag. Saying that i would've put up with the mood swings as i prefer to have clear skin. I have now been on cilest nearly 3month, i started to break out in month two but i am going to stick at it as Dianette didnt work for me until month 4. I would love to go back on Dianette but i know it is'nt safe and i'd only have to come off it in a few months anyway. However at the time it was needed as my bad skin was really spoling my life. I was on it was two year and after the first 6 months i never had a spot! Now I am currently using Cilest & Benxoyl 5% and hoping this will keep the acne at bay for now until cilest hopefully starts working if not i will try another pill. Try and ensure you give each pill enough time to work i.e 3-6 months to work before moving on

Pros:

Better skin that any of the antibiotics i've been on, more stable mood, no weight change

Cons:

slight libido loss, nausea (not too bad though), scared of the infertilty everyone is talking about!

This was the first 'pill' i've been on, mostly for skin improvement. My skin has cleared up really well! I hardly have to put on make-up anymore. However libido loss is annoying and its very hard to lose weight/tone up if your trying. I'm also scared of the other effects such as depression or infertiliy :S I think after a year and a half I'll switch to something less strong and hope for the best!

Pros:

Lot less oily almost instantly, spots got lots better, regulated periods and dramatically reduced period pains.

Cons:

Craving sweet things.

I was actually put on Dianetter when I was 13 due to bad period pains, but it made my skin fantastic, but I was taken off it a couple of years later due to migraines. After, my skin was terrible, as were my periods and tried everything (including roacutane, which gave me eczema and alopecia), so Dianette was a last resort for me. The dr wasnt reluctant to put me on it, saying maybe I had the reactions to it before because I was going through puberty, so it was fine for me to give it a try now. I've been taking it for a month, and I feel fine. I did have tender breasts for a couple of weeks and went up a cup size, and I crave sweets, but I've managed to control it and my weight is steady. My hair has gone fantastic, it's less greasy and more bouncy, and the cyst kind of spots I'm prone to have started to clear. I noticed the change in the amount of oil on my face within a week, only having to apply powder once in the morning and it lasts all day! I'm loving it!

Pros:

Clears up acne and reduces redness
Better than any other pill I've tried
Body hair appears alot finer

Cons:

I came off of it for 3 months (due to my heave periods) and switched to Marvelon and my skin looked really red, sore and had lots of spots under the surface. Im back on Dianette now, and also using the Dr. Kern beauty skin acne lamp.

I would recommend this to all my friends. Im quite a small build and havent noticed any weight gain over 2 years. Some people have said it makes you gain weight and get a bigger bust, not for me though. Thats why I thought I'd comment, in case people thought you you definatly gain weight. Ive used this for over 2 years.

Pros:

After suffering since age 9 this is the only drug that cleared my skin. Took a few months to do the job but consistantly kept me clear. Skin less oily too. Boobs got bigger which is always good!

Cons:

When I stopped using this for a few months and went back onto it I had mood swings and suffered with being very irritable. When I first starting using Dianette I gained weight

This worked really well for me. I stuck with this for 7 years and only came off because of the mood swings. Unfortunatly my acne came back and I am now back on, onto day 3 and already irritable. However, due to the vengance that my acne has come back I going to look at different ways of adjusting my mood and let the drug do its job.

Pros:

Dianette was a miracle for me. I have suffered from acne since I was 11 and nothing shifted it. I went to different doctors and tried various different treatments and nothing worked. I went on Dianette at 17 and it was a miracle - perfect skin.

Cons:

Now I'm 25 my Dr took me off Dianette. I went to another Dr who refused to put me back on as I'd been using it for so many years. Since then my skin is back to its worst and I've tried 2 different treatments and nothing is working. At my wits' end.

Get it while you can. Dianette increases your appetite, not necessarily your weight so be careful. Be mindful that one day your Dr will take you off it - I am very angry about this - and the likelihood is your skin will return to normal. I'm struggling to control mine now and I'm so frustrated I can't use Dianette again, it was a life-saver for me.
