Pros:

Clear Skin

Cons:

Weight gain
mood swings

I was in Dianette for 2 years and it really cleared up my skin BUT i put on loads of weight and was always depressed. I put on the weight cz i always felt hungry. I was always crying and getting angry bout silly things. Being on this pill is not supposed to be long term solution for acne and and the longer your on it the more risk you have so my doctor put on Yasmin which has so far been great. Ive already lost weight and feel better in myself also my skin is still fine. Although its quite a new pill its much safer than dianette.

Pros:

Cleared up spots

Cons:

None

I have been on Diane 35 for the last 10 years and 6 weeks ago finally took the decision to come off it thinking that my spots surely wouldn't return. Well the good news was that my period came only 2 weeks late but the bad news is that my forehead is covered in pimples. I can't believe how oily my face has become in such a short space of time and my hair too. My self-confidence has bombed. I'm only hoping now that they don't spread. I really don't fancy going back on the Dianette so I'm going to wait a couple more months to see if my skin sorts its self out (if I can hold out that long!) and maybe try out Yasmin if all else fails. Looking at my skin now, I can't believe how good Dianette actually was - I totally took it for granted my great skin. I'm now spending an extra 10 mins in the bathroom trying to cover myself up!

Stick with it
I had been struggling for 2/3 years with bad acne on my face, back shoulders and chest. When I first started taking dianette my skin deffientley got worse before it got better.I had tried so many different things before diannete and it was the only thing that worked for me.Within 6 months my skins was completely clear everywhere. It does take a while to work but please stick with it its deffinitley worth it.Unfortunatley after a few years of being on it my doctor made me come off it as there where some deaths of women from blood clots because of dianette and my skin is worse than ever :(

Hi, have you changed to YASMIN? My doctor told me that once my skin is cleared by using dianette (Il be on it 1 year) she will put me on yasmin as this isnt as strong but controls the acne and stops it from coming back. If your acne has come back you should go back on dianette until it clears again then go on Yasmin. Hope this helped

Nightmare!

Pros:

Cleared 90% of acne
Bigger Breasts

Cons:

Depression
Crying
Mood Swings

After struggling for acne for years I was prescribed dianette.. it worked pretty quickly and cleared up most of my acne. It completely cleared up the minor acne I had on my back, but I still had a few pimples on my cheeks and forehead. However, this pill completely changed my personality, I had terrible mood swings, I would cry every single day for hours, I ended up fighting with my boyfriend and throwing things (which is completely not in me to do, usually), I began self harming and making myself sick.. I had suicidal thoughts and most days I'd just lay in bed all day crying. I know it works differently for everyone, but if you think you may be susceptible to depression or it runs in your family, I would completely avoid Dianette. Even though it made my skin clearer and made my breasts go up three cup sizes, it's not worth it. My acne also came back full force when I stopped taking it, it was twice as bad as before and began spreading across my shoulders even.

Pros:

Completely cleared skin
Regular periods
Less greasy skin

Cons:

Severe acne after stopped taking medication

I started taking Dianette for moderate acne after semi successfully using antibiotics and topical treatments. While I was taking the pill my acne completely disapeared and my skin was much, much clearer. I took this medication for about a year and a half at least, in which time it was very succesful. However as you're not meant to be on this pill for extended lengths of time (usually only about one year I think) I changed to Yasmine as my doctor thought this would also help prevent acne. When I switched to Yasmine after about 4 months the odd spot started to come up on my face every now and again. This gradually got to be about 3-5 spots on my face 6 months after switching to Yasmine. I stopped taking Yasmine after 7 months because it wasn't preventing my acne and it didn't controll my periods properly (e.g. sometimes they would come on very lightly, but while I was still in the pill taking weeks). After stopping this prescription my acne came back gradually, and after 5 months of stopping the Yasmine (1 year of stopping the dianette) I had severe acne. It was far more inflamed than acne I've had before and moved to different parts of my face, mainly around my cheeks and temples. In my opinion Dianette works, but is not a long term solution. And Yasmine didn't work for me as an acne treatment. I'm now on a course on Accutane.... lets see how that goes.

Pros:

it clears your skin up

Cons:

weight gain (alot), deep vein thrombosis/ blood clotting which has killed a 17yr old girl recently

Dianette is great for clearing up acne, it helped me alot. But i gave gained quite alot of weight from the pill which makes me unhappy, but i still have clear sking almost flawless with makeup. But im stopping dianette because today in the newspaper i read that a 17yr old girl died from a bloodclot which is believed to be caused by dianette, she isnt the only woman to die from a blood clot who was on dianette, therefore im stopping, i was highly considering too anyway because of so much weight gain. I have been on Duanette for 8 months and my skin starting to really improve around the 4 month mark, it helps so much but the side affects are just not worth the risk. I recommended it yes because it does do the job of clearing acne, atleast it did for me, but be sure of weight gain.

Cons:

Your body goes awful when you come off of it, worse acne then before, super greasy skin, painful periods.

Works great. I came off of this pill when my skin cleared up...BIG MISTAKE. My skin is now AWFUL, worse then ever before and i've had no choice but to go back on it! Waiting for it to kick in again.

Pros:

Clearer skin with the occasional spot, Breasts grow, reduces hair growth and lighter periods

Cons:

Weight gain which is a lot harder to shift, Only a temporary solution and moderate to severe depression

After being on dianette for two year my doctor told me I had to come off it, since then my skin has got a lot worse, so it does work but it is only a temporary solution. The side effects such as depression and weight gain, were terrible but I have lost the weight easily since coming off it and I am happier. But if you can cope with the mood swings and are looking for a quick fix this is the drug for you.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin!

Cons:

Appetite is huge.
Worried to come off Dianette incase skin returns to how it used to be.

I've been taking Dianette for around 7/8 months now. It helped my skin a hell of a lot and the only advice I can give to people is to stick with it - For the first few months my skin actually got worse and I was in a horrible mood for most of that time. However my skin is under control now and I feel great. Acne is no longer a problem in my life!
