Pros:

Deep dark marks were cleared
Breakout severity minimized!!!!
Pill was easy to swallow
My skin looked healthier in general
NO MORE LITTLE RED SPOTS ALL OVER MY FACE! :D

Cons:

Absolutely, positively, no negative comments about this medicine.

As of last month, I have ditched Solodyn. I couldn't be happier with the results, though. My acne, although it hasn't disappeared, looks like it has been treated professionally! Every so often, i would get a minor flaring break out, but it was very easily healed with a regular facial wash. It really did get rid of bacteria from my face because I really noticed pimples just disappearing after using this! I've even been getting comments from my friends saying that they've noticed a change in my face and that I look so much better :D I did see the review below that your acne can return in 3 months... but, I think that all depends on your own, unique skin. As for me, I'm slightly lucky. I no longer have small red spots on my face. I'm totally clear now, and get a medium sized one every so often. If you have skin like I used to have (widespread, small red spots, and just a smidge oily), then I most definitely recommend this medicine for you.

Pros:

-Clears Cystic Acne
-Inexpensive with Promotion
-Minimal Side Effects Which Went Away After 1st Week
-Prevents Initial Breakout From Topical Products

Cons:

-Slightly Shaky First Few Days
-Itchy Skin For a Few Days

I have never really suffered from severe acne before and pro activ always kept my skin controlled and clear. Upon enter college my skin broke out worse than ever, I had no desire to see my boyfriend, friends, or even go to class; I would just lock myself in my room and cry over how painful the cysts were and how hideous they made me feel. I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed Solodyn tablets to take in the morning with plenty of water, aczone gel, and tretin-x. I must say that I have never had such clear skin and I'm only on week 4 of this new regimen. The combonation of sll 3 medicines has created a balance in my skin and allowed for even my scars from previous breakouts to heal. I love my skin right now, and you can too! There is a solution for every type of acne...I recommend all 3 of these products they are phenomenal especially when used together!

Pros:

clears skin up fast
no more ichtiness or redness
my skin isn't making so much oil
no side effects ( for me, everyone is different)

Cons:

only that I didn't get it sooner!

If you really want a solution read this, I had acne that was so bad I would cry over how my skin looked. I know its hard to trust a review's source but I am writing this for the person at the end of their rope like I was.I had bad horomonal acne from high androgen levels due to PCOS. It was all over my face, neck, back, and chest, and worst than that was the oiliness I experienced. I looked lke I was sweaty 24/7. Bumpy and sweaty: not a good combo. Also Iwould get deep painful cyst, and red itchy patches on my face. My skin was unpredictable and I tried proactive, dozens of topical creams, u name it I used it, all with no avail. when something did get close to keeping my skin clear it either just stopped working or it'd dry me out, without getting rid of the bumps. It sucked. but literally within days I noticed my face clearing up. My husband said "baby, your glowing, what have you been doing? your face looks awesome". I couldn't believe it and as time progressed it keeps getting better, its soft and smooth and clear....finally. I am also glad to say that I no longer look like I have been inches away from a fryer all day lol...the oil is gone. my skin is healthy and I feel pretty again so I would advise anyone to try this, ask your derm and hopefully u get good results too. Also I think I should tell what else I use as part of my regimen: Loreal 360 deep clean(the green one), and for spot treatments for flare ups (like around my cycle) some retinoid cream, I cant remeber the name and neutragena combination skin moisterizer. But I really am greatful my doctor suggetsed trying this method, I feel like I have my face back.

Pros:

clear, healthy skin; smooth complexion

Cons:

Drowsy

I used to have perfect skin, never had to wear makeup ever. Recently my periods got out of hand and so I went to ask about birth control. Well the birth control I was taking (oral/pills) ignited acne on my forehead. It was nowhere else BUT MY FOREHEAD. And it was disgusting too! They were nodules, cysts, whiteheads, everything you could think of and it hurt so bad! So like anyone else, I went to the dermatologist. This dermatologist that my parents recommended to me gave me a topical gel called Atralin. I was still taking my birth control and using this gel as well. It sort of got rid of it but it was still hurting. It was like every zit that went away, TWO or THREE more formed where it was. It was embarrassing. I tried covering it up with makeup, but that just made it so much worse! :( So my boyfriend recommended his dermatologist to me cause he used to have severe acne (he was a accutane user and his skin has no problems now, ever! He has beautiful skin!!) and so I went to her. Dr. Toni Smith told me to quit using Atralin and she gave me Finacea ( another topical gel) as well as 80mg samples and a prescription to Solodyn. She told me the Finacea gel will smooth out my complexion and get rid of acne scarring. The Solodyn is like Accutane, it stops bacteria in its tracks the moment you use it. I started using Solodyn 3 weeks ago and I saw a difference in just 3 days. NO JOKE. I also read some reviews on this website about solodyn and I was so scared to take it, but I haven't had one side effect besides feeling sleepy in the middle of the day, but that is nothing. I LOVE THIS STUFF! :) Don't be afraid to take Solodyn! It really turned my life around. My boyfriend compliments my skin all of the time now and I don't have to wear make up anymore! none!! I love my skin!

Pros:

Everything about it!

Cons:

None

I was prescribed Solodyn for my hormonal chin/jaw-line acne. I was taking birth control pills for about 8 years and when i decided to stop, i started to break out in this hormonal acne on my chin and jaw area. My dermatologist told me about Solodyn, but right away i was concerned with a few things. One being, will i get sick with it or get these horrible migranes. I read a lot of reviews from other people and i really was scared to take it after hearing about what people said happened to them. Second, i was worried that the pills would make me break out worse before it got better and also, dry my skin out. What everyone must know is, everyone is different and you must try Solodyn before you decide not to use it. I was prescribed the 65mg by my doctor according to my weight (130lbs). I have had ZERO side effects AND, my acne is clearing up drastically. I was also given a Solodyn patient access card which is good for 3 months. This pill is very expensive so i hope you can get this card. I was able to get my first month FREE and the remaining 2 months for $10. My pharacist told me that my primary insurance did not cover the pill so this card really helped because if i didnt have this card, i would have to pay $750 per month! All in all, try it out for yourself and don't go by what others say. Everyone has a different body and everyone has different skin.

Pros:

-Fast results
-Inexpensive
-No side effects
-Cleared severe cystic acne well

Cons:

Skin was itchy and dry at first

As soon as I started college, my face broke out in large, painful cystic acne. It was horrible, and anyone who suffers from acne knows the effects acne has on one's self esteem. I saw a new derm near my university because my doc back home refused to give me any form of aggressive treatment in fear of scarring. The new derm prescribed Aczone gel to be applied twice a day as well as Solodyn 65mg tablets. Within 2 weeks I noticed a substantial difference in my complexion. By the end of the first month I had only one cystic pustule on my jawline. I have now been on it for a little over two months and can't remember ever having such clear skin! I feel much more confident and never even touch my concealer before going out. I definitely recommend this!

Pros:

My chest, back and neck acne is 98% GONE!! Yay! They gave me a discount card to use, so my first prescription was FREE instead of $40. The next two are only $10 and after that, you can simply call back and request another card for the same promotion, over and over again!

Cons:

None to mention yet. Only been on it for a month...

I have had acne since age 11 and I am now 30. Nothing has worked for me except Accutane, which gave me suicidal thoughts and dried out my skin/lips/scalp horribly bad. Sadly, my 100% clear body/face was short-lived after my Accutane wore off and it's too dangerous in my opinion, to try it again. Bare Mineral makeup by Bare Escentuals completely cleared up my facial acne within a couple weeks, I have been using that for 3 months. But...my body acne was still there, on my neck, chest and back. Body acne SUCKS. So, I went to a dermatologist and he put me on Solodyn. It's been one month and I can now wear v-neck shirts. My small pus-filled pimples are 98% gone and I couldn't be happier. After reading the reviews, I do worry it will stop working after a few months, but so far, it's been GREAT at clearing up my body acne. I will have to keep a close eye on it after a few months to see if I am one of the people it will stop working on. I love this site, such good information being shared is a wonderful thing. Pros:

Keeps skin under control, reduces oiliness, don't have to worry about my skin going out of control, and my skin is healing up very well.

Cons:

Initially the small bumps on my skin surfaced and are starting to go away. dryness of skin, but lotion fixes that.

I originally took doxycycline and that worked initially, but never actually got my skin completely clear. broke out badly and tried to manage with it, but it only got worse. I was too harsh on my skin (putting to much products on), which dried out my skin badly. Solodyn has had no negative side effects and seems to be clearing up my skin just fine. The initial breakout just surfaces the small pimples and they soon go away.

Pros:

Clears up acne fast
Cheap with the discount coupon (only $10)
No side effects (atleast I haven't had any)

Cons:

Few months after stopping intake, acne start resurfacing :(

After delivering my baby, I started getting huge bumps and lesions all over my face, neck, back and chest.. went to a dermatologist.. was on several medications..like doxycycline, clindamicyn, Muprocin.(can't even remember names).. condition worsened.. doc suspected MRSA.. was also admitted to hospital for few days due to rashes from one of the medications.. was given IV antibiotic(don't remember name but they said it is a very strong medicine)... condition improved a little but still few old lesions were there and new bumps were emerging... so changed doc... new doc prescribed Solodyn saying tht infection looks more like a severe acne prblm than anything else... started seeing effects within first month itself and within 2 months I was acne free.. Solodyn is really a wonder medicine for me.. stopped solodyn after 2 months... was acne free for 4 months and then saw 2-3 acne again on face so took solodyn for one more month and was clear again within 15 days of taking solodyn... was 5 months without solodyn and without acne. 2 weeks ago, I saw eruption again along my jawline (that's where it always starts)... so rushed to doc today to get my prescription again... will use solodyn for 1 more month... am quite positive that it will work again like it always has for me :)... For those of you who have tried lots of medicines and lost hope, pls try this one too... I have had no luck with so many but solodyn works like a charm for me..

Pros:

Clear skin =)

Cons:

None!

I had a horrible break out around the beginning of April! My entire face was coverred in acne. It was horrible! I wouldn't go anywhere or do anything! I just stayed home and cried all day. My derm put me on Solodyn 65mg, Atralin gel .05% and Ovace wash. It took 5 weeks to really notice a big difference! I'm on my seventh month and I have about only two active pimples! They only thing left now are the red marks! Remember not to give up on a product and have patience! It will work! I also had no side effects. I did go out in the sun, but it wctually helped me tan =) I always cover my face though and use 100 SPF on it.
