Pros:

It appears to clear up my skin. I have mild acne so this really shouldn't have been given to me by the DR.

Cons:

My face turned red and it burned. I got a bad headache as well as neck pain also dryness.

Not good for people with mild acne.

Pros:

NOTHING still was breaking out, the only good thing was I didnt have to pay for it bc I had a coupon from my derm

Cons:

headaches, tiredness, didnt even work

I was on this medication for 3 months and I regiously took it, I was still breaking out and my skin was not completely clear so I decided to stop... WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE, I got the Worst most horrible breakout of cystic like acne of my life, I'm 23 and I've never had a breakout like this not even as a teen, my cheeks were horrible and I'm still trying to recover from this breakout 4 months later, I've switched to Tetracycline and started using Differin .3 and so far my skin is a million times better but still not quite clear yet...just bc its expensive you think its going to work but it definitely didnt for me.

Pros:

Helped clear up acne on my back

Cons:

Didn't do much to help my facial acne

I used the 65 mg for about 6 weeks before stopping, since it wasn't doing much for my face. It did help clear up my back though. The problem was during the 2 weeks I stopped, my face and back both got worse. After finishing up the 3 month regimen my acne wasn't getting much better so I went to the dermatologist to bump me down to the 55 mg in order to ween myself off of it. I think this medication may work for people with light acne, or body acne. But overall I would not recommend it. Benzoyl peroxide seems to work better by itself.

Cons:

Gave me painful acne under breasts, made my face break out more, did not work

My dermatologist was not available so I saw her assistant. I wanted a refill on doxycycline, which zaps my acne RIGHT out. She convinced me to go on Solodyn, telling me that it would work in the same length of time but I would only have to take it once a day and it had less side effects. Since I've been on this medication, not only have I not seen improvement, but I have gotten body acne, which I NEVER had before. I get sudden HUGE breakouts. I'm talking nothing on my cheek at 10 am, go into a meeting, coming out at 1:30 and seeing a fully matured zit that's ready to pop. Extremely disappointing. When I called the PA and told her I wanted to switch back to doxycycline, she said the solodyn takes about a week to work. It's been two weeks. Besides, she said it worked in the same length of time as the doxycycline. The doxy has me cleared up in 2-3 days and has my skin looking flawless. This Solodyn is craps and it burns going down. I do NOT recommend this product. Do 100MG of doxycycline, use Johnson and Johnson's Purpose face wash, exfoliate once a week with Johnson and Johnson's Clean and Clear Morning Burst and be done with it. Leave this solodyn alone.

Pros:

Reduces inflammation, can be taken with food, and one pill at a time.

Cons:

Expensive ($750 w/o insurance), does not help with cystic acne and its main ingredient is minocycline which can cause some serious side effects if taken for too long.

I switched to Solodyn after I became resistant to doxy. My face has not become worse, but it has shown little or no improvement. I have minor cysts (still cystic acne but they aren't bad). Please only consider my review if you have cystic acne, as that is all I can speak for. If you have other types of acne, Solodyn may work for you. It costs $750 w/o insurance for a month's supply of 90mg pills. I am fortunate enough to have insurance that allows me to pay only $10, but it doesn't matter. No one should have to pay $750 for a medication that is ineffective in treating moderate cystic acne.

Pros:

Didn't make my skin worse

Cons:

Didn't help at all; also my insurance wouldn't cover, and cost at Costco (cheapest pharmacy around here) was $546. for a 30-day supply!! (Solodyn manufacturer wouldn't honor "free" card after the 1st month's supply, due to my insurance deductible...)

If it would've helped at all, I would've been willing to pay whatever it cost (within reason). I took it daily/faithfully for 2 months and I didn't see any improvement at all! (for treatment of pustules)

Pros:

It worked for for about two weeks

Cons:

After those two weeks, my skin got severely dry and broke out even worse than before I had started taking the medication.

Don't use this product. I doesnt have lasting effects and ends up making your skin worse.

Pros:

inexpensive

Cons:

horrible headaches (migraines)

Solodyn unfortunately gave me terrible headaches to the point where I had to discontinue my prescription. My dermatologist recommended this product along with a topical gel. I understand how important it is to target acne from both inside and out but this product did not do much for my skin. I am going to go the all natural route and trying supplementing any prescription pills with natural vitamins.
