Pros:

- Free first month, cheap for first few couple of months if you have insurance.

Cons:

- Fatigue
- Shoulder and chest pain
- Acne got a bit worse. Didn't help my cysts.

I started to break out 8 months ago with normal pimples just on the cheeks. Before this, i was completely clear, never had to wear make up at all. I think it was stress related. Benzaclin cleared it up, but then a week later i had a few small cysts. Doctor gave me solodyn. Made me really weak. My menstrual period started two weeks early, i don't know if it related to Solodyn though. But I always get my period on time. I had to stop Solodyn on my third week becus it was causing me too much tatigue. And gave me few more cysts. Didn't work for me, but might work for others. Goodluck.

Pros:

pretty cheap (I got a card from the derm. from the manufacturer)
worked a little at first

Cons:

Doesn't work anymore
Used to give me headaches/dizziness
Used to make me sensitive to the sun
never completely cleared skin

I was prescribed this medication almost a year ago and I've been taking it all along. It started to clear up my skin but never completely and it seemed as if you start to get an immunity to it. I hard moderately severe acne. Especially on my back. It did help my back tons! and my back completely cleared, but like i said after a few months it started coming back. I was also using clindamyacin phosphate lotion and a benzoyl peroxide wash on my back, so maybe that's really what cleared my back. They clindamyacin was basically supposed to help the scarring on my back which it did, but it also felt sort of oily. I stopped taking it about 2 months ago because I wanted to try birth control and This interferes with Birth control. The birth control isn't working at all for the acne. I'm going to the derm. this week and I'm going to try to get a better topical treatment. sodium sulfacetamide maybe?

Pros:

-Clears Cystic Acne
-Inexpensive with Promotion
-Minimal Side Effects Which Went Away After 1st Week
-Prevents Initial Breakout From Topical Products

Cons:

-Slightly Shaky First Few Days
-Itchy Skin For a Few Days

I have never really suffered from severe acne before and pro activ always kept my skin controlled and clear. Upon enter college my skin broke out worse than ever, I had no desire to see my boyfriend, friends, or even go to class; I would just lock myself in my room and cry over how painful the cysts were and how hideous they made me feel. I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed Solodyn tablets to take in the morning with plenty of water, aczone gel, and tretin-x. I must say that I have never had such clear skin and I'm only on week 4 of this new regimen. The combonation of sll 3 medicines has created a balance in my skin and allowed for even my scars from previous breakouts to heal. I love my skin right now, and you can too! There is a solution for every type of acne...I recommend all 3 of these products they are phenomenal especially when used together!

Pros:

This medication drastically reduced my acne for the most part.

Cons:

As soon as you stop using Solodyn you break out like crazy. Also I experienced vertigo that was really bad at about the 6 month mark and minor liver problems.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Seriously find a topical that works for you, this stuff can be dangerous. I can't take it anymore because of the liver problems and severe vertigo I had.

Pros:

Too early to tell

Cons:

Dizziness/ light headedness/ nausea

I was prescribed 30 days of 115mg Solodyn for perioral dermatitis. I took one pill at night, and was nauseous the next day, so I stopped. Instead, I tried apple cider vinegar. After about 3 weeks of ACV (drinking and applying), the perioral dermatitis didn't clear up entirely. So I'm trying again with the Solodyn. I'm on day two, and the nausea hasn't returned. However, I am very lightheaded/dizzy. It's manageable, for now, though, so I plan to stay on it. I am hoping this solves the perioral dermatitis once and for all...(I'm keeping up the ACV concurrently, because it can't hurt). As for the cost, my doctor gave me a card from the manufacturer that makes it only $10 for each 30-day supply.

Pros:

Really helps clear up my hormonal/exercise induced acne

Cons:

I haven't stopped using it, I've been on it 10 days, so I'm not sure yet if I will break out once I stop.

I feel like this was the first thing I've tried in a while that made a visible difference in my face. I have really fair, sensitive skin and I live in Florida so everything irritates my skin. This really helped along with my normal routine of products.

Pros:

None

Cons:

After 13 days a horrible rash developed, hives all over skin, swollen joints. I also developed an intolerance to lactose and gluten due to the antibiotic killing all the intestinal flora.

I wouldn't recommend this pill to anyone.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin when used with Tazorac
Saw improvement fairly quickly

Cons:

Shedding hair
SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING!
Made me break out even WORSE than before I was on it.

I started taking Solodyn 90mg in conjunction with Tazorac 0.05% in late March 2009. After a few weeks, it started working, and soon enough, my face was nearly flawless. Regardless, my dermatologist prescribed my Solodyn 135mg, and still, my face was nearly flawless. I LOVED my clear skin. Everything was perfect. Then, in September 2009, I had my wisdom teeth removed. After that, both prescriptions suddenly stopped working, and I broke out even worse than my original acne. It was bad. Really bad. There was hardly a spot on my face which wasn't covered in pimples, varying in size. There were a lot of huge zits. I still continued to use the Solodyn and Tazorac as recommended, and the size of the zits went down, but the number increased. It wasn't until late December 2009 when I stopped Solodyn and Tazorac all together that my face actually started to clear up. I believe that by taking Solodyn, an antibiotic, that the P-acne bacteria in my body had built up an immunity to the Solodyn, thus rendering it useless. Why it came on so suddenly, I'm not sure. Still to this day, my acne is worse after treatment with Solodyn. Be careful, you're not supposed to take Solodyn for long periods of time, it warns that it can change the color of hair and teeth. And it only seems that it works in short periods of time-- 6 months or less. My doctor fed me the line that "Solodyn is supposed to be the best out there." Some crap that was.

Pros:

Keeps skin under control, reduces oiliness, don't have to worry about my skin going out of control, and my skin is healing up very well.

Cons:

Initially the small bumps on my skin surfaced and are starting to go away. dryness of skin, but lotion fixes that.

I originally took doxycycline and that worked initially, but never actually got my skin completely clear. broke out badly and tried to manage with it, but it only got worse. I was too harsh on my skin (putting to much products on), which dried out my skin badly. Solodyn has had no negative side effects and seems to be clearing up my skin just fine. The initial breakout just surfaces the small pimples and they soon go away.
