Pros:

-Works really well
-If you use it every day for a week, you will see dramatic changes
-No scary chemicals
-Easy to use
-Makes skin glow
-It's cheap
-You can get it in any grocery store

Cons:

-Stings a tiny bit, but very little

After trying what seems like everything, I tried putting lemon juice on my forehead. It acts as an astringent, so it dries up the excess oils on my face. After a day I saw results. IT WORKS REALLY WELL AND EVERYONE SHOULD TRY IT! (I used Whole Foods Lemon Juice)

Pros:

exfoliate, brightens, even skin tone, removes dark spots, reduce pores, decreases breakouts, get rid of redness. no more dermatologist. use lemon 3-4 times weekly. cheap. 3 for a buck.

Cons:

of course it stings when first applied, but after about 5 treatments, stings no more. lemons are a slow process. be patient. acne clears within 2 weeks. very dark spots about 6 weeks.

i have had acne for 29 years. i am now acne free. i use benzyl peroxide first. then i wait about 20 minutes and cut the lemon into quarters and use one quarter over my face sqeezing the juice along the way. leave on face for at least 1-2 hours, rinse with cool water and olive oil and WOW! my face cleared in 2 weeks. no more dark spots and i rarely break out. also, go to health store and purchase aloe vera juice(noon) tsp., apple cider vinegar(a.m.) tsp, green tea(evening) cup. i drink each once a day at different times. they detoxify your body and aids in getting rid of acne. no need to take antibiotics. Lemons rock! moisturize and sun block!

Acne Scars
I can't comment on how well this works on active acne as I have only ever used it as a topical hyper-pigmentation treatment. But with the limited safe options for the treatment of acne hyper-pigmentation I think applying lemon topically (when done correctly) is really good option. I have beat my acne in the past, unfortunately it has come back, don't you hate that!? But when my acne was all clear I started to use lemon, undiluted on a cotton pad as a toner, only in the evenings to limit sun exposure during use. The first thing I noticed was it is a fantastic chemical exfoliator, my skin felt smooth and glow-y, and although it wasn't an overnight miracle, gradually my scars began to fade. I would say they were gone completely within 2 months. If you are worried about skin sensitivity, dilute the lemon juice 1:1 with water and for gods sake do a patch test! It's the only way to be sure if something it going to irritate your skin, try it on your jaw or somewhere your hair covers anyway and wait for 24 hours. I'd rather the wait than wake up with a bright red face! And use fresh lemons, that lemon juice you get in a bottle is okay but its full of preservatives and has no where near the vitamin C content of a fresh lemon, just wrap your lemon in cling film and pop it in the fridge. It will stay fresh for a week.

Pros:

Smaller pores, less acne, softer skin, balanced oil and dryness

Cons:

stings on application

Awesome. Just really darn awesome. I have tried EVERYTHING since I started getting acne when I was 11. 13 year later and I still couldn't get ride of it. I tried prescription drugs, topical creams and gels, every face wash and treatment you can buy and NOTHING worked. Ive wasted so much money on expensive junk that make my skin worse over the years. I tried some lemon juice out of my fridge and damned if it didn't work! I noticed a difference in a couple hours.

Pros:

Cheap and easy remedy

Cons:

Sticky on skin if left overnight
Stings a little

Hey All, I felt the need to share my acne story with everyone and the remedies I used. I am Asian, of Indian descent, brown skin. 27yrs old. I was on accutane from May 2011 to March 2012 (20mg/day, 10 months) for facial and body acne (whole back, butt & thighs), but my face was relatively ok, though it did have scarring. I stopped Accutane completely mid April. Come June, I started noticing little pimple like bumps. They werent filled with pus or anything, just bumps especially on my forehead line. So.. these are the home made remedies I have been using since June, and it has definitely helped get rid of the scarring and acne marks, any recurring acne and has kept my skin smooth. Main ingredients: 1) Lemon juice from- Half a lemon 2) Tumeric powder - half table spoon 3) Aloe Vera gel (I have aloe plants at home and normally cut them out and squeeze out only the gel and not the pulp. Time consuming but I dont mind) I alternate between: 1) just mixing the ingredients above and applying it on my skin 2) mixing the main ingredients with sugar for a smoothing body scrub 3) Honey 4) Yogurt (cuts down the staining of tumeric) Results: -smoother, lighter skin, noticed that my tan lines have reduced -pinker lips (i apply whatever i do above on my lips too) - acne scars have reduced and not so visible - keeps any recurring acne at bay. -skin has a more healthier glow. Because I am brown, the lightening has given my skin sort of a honey glow. Bottom line: I decided to go for home made remedies as a post accutane treatment. You have to do it continuously for good results, though you would immediately notice smoothness of skin and your face a little lighter. I do the above at least 3 to 4 times a week. I love the fact that all the stuff I use is cheap and can be found in my kitchen and I don't have to worry so much about side effects on my skin. I ap

Pros:

- Faded Scars

I was getting really frustrated with getting new acne all the time right next to the scars of a breakout from months ago. Nothing would fade them, and I was getting desperate so I tried lemon juice. When I woke up after the first night I put it on my skin I was pleasantly suprised. They already looked less red and less noticable. Lemon juice is one of my best friends. It doesn't help get rid of my acne but it works amazing with scars.

Pros:

Smells great
You can tell it's working almost immediately
Helped with acne scars

Cons:

Some may not like the sting

I tried this for several months and really enjoyed it, actually. Lemon smells very clean to me so I enjoyed the smell, and I felt like my acne scars were helped a little bit. It didn't do much to clear my acne, though, but helping with the scars was enough in my opinion. Some people may not like the stinging feeling, but I thought it was good because it made me feel like it was doing it's job. I also appreciate that it's natural.

Pros:

Natural--(no boogeyman chemicals)
Nourishing--vitamin C, fruit acids, etc.
Cheap
Powerful!

Cons:

Fussy--have to fresh sqeeze and keep it in the fridge
Cold on application
sometimes sticky
itches for a while

After years of researching and being a guinea pig to so many costly and ineffective acne "cures", this has been a major breakthrough. I wish I'd tried this fifteen years ago. Because of other health problems, I've been trying to avoid harsh artificial chemicals, and whaddayaknow, the thing that finally works is the most natural out there. Unlike most other reviewers, I leave the lemon juice on, applying after my morning shower and again after washing at night--I live in the desert, and it seems to keep an ideal moisture barrier in addition to its acne slaying benefits. (I've been careful to keep out of the sun, though.) I slather it on my face and over my back, which itches like the dickens! But it has calmed all the gross little bumps and blackheads and prevented the larger bombshells that have plagued my complexion for years I think its essential to have relatively fresh juice--I'm sure its a cocktail of enzymes and vitamins that are available in the fresh fruit, and I use organic lemons, and drink lemon water as well, which is cleansing and alkalizing for the body. Several times a week I do a kefir yogurt mask, which leaves me silky and glowing, and also a dissolved aspirin mask--super cleansing! My skin is now smooth and beautiful, save for some scars which very well may be nourished out of existence with this regimen! And all from stuff that I can eat! Do yorself a favor and try it! Leave it on for as long as it feels right--everyone is different--this is about treating your body well, not extending the torture as so many acne products do. When it comes to skin--Lemons are sweet!
