Pros:

Keeps face from becoming oily and greasy
Prevents acne for people who have moderate / light acne or even used to have severe acne
Can get large containers of it so it lasts a long time

Cons:

Expensive

I used to have extremely severe acne due to incontrollable amounts of grease and oil that would layer on my face no matter what product I used. After going on dozens of prescriptions, I eventually went on Accutane which cleared up all my acne after about a year and a half. BUT, even though most of my acne stopped, the grease and oil was still heavy. Cetaphil cleared this up perfectly. After almost a decade of having a greasy face, I now live with clear, SHINE-FREE skin! I can prove it was Cetaphil because I went back to college for a new semester and forgot to take my bottle with me and my face was so greasy and oily and I started getting mild acne again, along with an 100% shiny face 24/7. I immediately retrieved my Cetaphil and my face cleared up again after two days. I love my cetaphil and will never live without it again! I do not know how this product works for people with dry skin. But for people who get greasy, oily skin, this product is for you.

Non-Irritating
Non-Foaming
Non-Fragranced
Doesn't Dry Skin Out
Non-Comedogenic
Dermatologist Recommended
Low Price $ out of $$$

Cons:

Not a Good Makeup Remover

Honestly, I don't think this is pricey at all. Unless you don't live in the states the price of this product doesn't even compare to the pricey products you could purchase at the counter. Anyways, I went to my dermatologist and was recommended to use Cetaphil before my Benzoyl Peroxide wash. I wake up in the morning use a generous amount of Cetaphil wash it off, then use the BP which I also wash off. The results? Amazing. When you look at the product its a slightly cloudy lotion like cream. It doesn't foam up, which won't strip too much of the oil from your face. It's not supposed too. Turns out if you strip the oils from your face your skin tries to produce more to replace your skins barrier. The verdict? Using a product that makes your skin feel "tight" will just end up making your skin more oily afterward. My skins very clear now. For the first time, in a long time I've felt very confident in my appearance. Except for my dark circles, I don't wear any foundation of concealer, because I don't need any! Speaking of makeup this is not a very good makeup remover. Makeup remover is designed to dissolve tough makeup, think of grease paint. I would use Cetaphill after I remove my makeup to help moisturize my face again. The Bottom Line- This is a great product, well recommended.

Pros:

-gentle
-cleans well
-leaves skin soft
-great for acne/ hyperpigmentation

Cons:

-takes a while to get used to because it's like a lotion (your skin might not feel as clean or thoroughly cleansed, but go with it...the results are worth it!)
-dry patches the first 3-4 days (they go away)

Cetaphil is very calming and cleans very well. I prefer the "gentle skin cleanser" because it doesn't suck all the oil off your face like the "daily facial cleanser." This is also perfect if u want to get rid of those red mark left from acne. My skin is very thin, so whenever i get a pimple, i'm left with a mark. Just try not to use make-up for a week and tone only when necessary- the marks should fade in 7-9 days. And remember to moisturize and eat lots of veggies!! The idea is to be very gentle with your skin, and if you can try to get a facial every month or so! Also try not to use that much salicylic acid or BP, cause that might irritate ur face Remember: BE GENTLE!

Pros:

Best cleanser ever.

I started using this cleanser at 15. I've now used it for almost 15 years. I've tried other cleansers periodically, but nothing has ever been better than Cetaphil. Make sure to buy the gentle formula. Doesn't dry out my skin. No irritation.

Save my skin
I read on so many reviews about benzoyl peroxide so I decided to try it on myself starting with the 2.5%. The next day after I tried it on, my skin started to swollen so bad it looks like balloon. I went to the doctor and he said that it turned out that my skin is allergic to BP. It hurts so terrible my skin was dry, flaky, swollen, it hurts even when I try to wash my face. I tried to wash my face with cetaphil it does sting a little bit because my skin was irritated. I also add the cetaphil cream moisturiser to my regimen. But it turns out even worst. I cant really apply anything to my irritated face. So i decided just to wash my face with cetaphil cleanser. It has been 6 days after I got my allergic injection with continuously eating my meds. my skin has finally improved. I learned that the cleanser is soooo gentle even though my skin was hurting so so so bad. I will never stop using it!

This is what you should do. I'm a user of the Cleanser for 9 years now but have been using it wrong. Use it without water. Do one cheek without water using your hand and use the other hand to wipe excess off. Do the other cheek the same way. Then do the forehead. If you read the back of the bottle you can use it without water and you should. Research shows that water dries your skin out. After you clean with Cetaphil apply Vanicream (the cream of lotion). Apply a lot. You will break out the first five days or so but after that your skin will be smooth and beautiful. Do this routine at night and once a night. The morning do absolutely nothing. Get rid of the BP. That strips your delicate skin. Your skin needs moisture in order to naturally exfoliate itself. The BP is only temporarily exfoliating your dead skin cells when the underlying cause of your acne is stripped skin. I have tried everything from Retin A to every drug store brand. The only two routines that work is this one and the caveman regimen. Any questions just ask.

Pros:

the best, period.

Cons:

have to use a lot

a doctor told me to use cetaphil because it doesn't help acne, but it doesn't hurt it. it simply cleanses your skin and leaves it as normal as possible. using bp and sacylic acid really made my skin worse and i believe it was due to all the chemical imbalances. i have tried everything: dan's regimen, proactiv, prescribed topicals, almost every OTC cleanser, toner, and lotion, etc.. and the only thing that works is doxycycline (a prescribed pill that i take once daily) and cetaphil gentle in the morning and at night, a third time if you workout or sweat at work. i have rather oily skin and tried the normal to oily cetaphil, but go with the gentle it works the best. wet face, gently massage every pore, and a few splashes. don't worry about having to rinse it all off, it's also made to be used without water. use sunscreen spf 15+ if you know you're going to be in the sun. don't worry about toners, and lotion. i haven't had a breakout since, withering wrinkles, and soft skin. seriously, do less, use less, get better results. go to your doctor, ask for doxycycline, and buy cetaphil gentle.

Pros:

Extremely gentle, soothes and softens skin, calms redness, non-drying, inexpensive.

Cons:

Consistency.

Here's the deal (and it's been said on here many times) - the consistency is awful. It's like watery goo or clear lotion. Your skin will not feel "fresh and clean" or stripped. However, with that said, it's still one of the best face washes out there. It never dries out my skin, even in the winter, and I have pretty dry skin. It soothes and calms redness, and it leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized. If you can get over the no foaming or lathering, it's amazing.
