Pros:

1. Doesn't sting
2. Doesn't smell
3. Doesn't irritate skin

Cons:

1. EXPENSIVE after the first 3 discounted tubes

I have been using Ziana gel for about 3 months now. Its hard to tell how much this product has improved my acne. This year has been the first year that I have had BAD acne, everywhere! I started to breakout on my chest, arms, and lower back. I had never had a problem with my skin before. I learned that I was under too much stress, I wasn't getting enough vitamins and I was often dehydrated, all causes of acne. I can tell that the improvements that I have made have significantly helped, now I'm just waiting for the marks on my skin to go away. I'm not sure if I can continue to use Ziana gel as money is tight right now, I don't have insurance, and I've already gotten 3 discounted tubes of Ziana gel :(

Pros:

Reduced Redness

Cons:

Lots of peeling, but if you use lotion and scrub your face with a soft bristle toothbrush it works. Also burns during application (so fan your face a few minutes)

Yaz in combination with Ziana really helped!

Pros:

I have been on it a week, and it has cleared my face up significantly....

Cons:

My face is so dry, it's peeling, cracking, and hurts to the touch or even if I wash it with no soap and just water....

The vote is still out for me....I have dry skin, and peeling up to my eyballs, everything, and I mean everything that I put on my face goes through about twenty to thirty minutes of burning before it will calm down, including water....I have been on it a week, and I can tell my face is clearing up, and I don't really see any color changes with my skin, but I don't know how much of the dryness I can handle...I go back to the doctor in about 2 weeks, and I will see what he says about what kind of facial moisterizers I need to use because this is really really really bothering me....

Pros:

not AS harsh as it's Retin-a counterpart
If you rub it in, it is invisible

Cons:

It is still pretty abraisive and burns
Isn't really that powerful
Have to apply it to entire face, it HURTS

It may be effective for some acne, but not mine. I have had more luck with OTC than the various Rx's that my dermotologist has prescribed me.

Pros:

Works from the second month of use to the twelfth month of use
Easy to apply
No scent
Goes on smooth
Helps with wrinkles

Cons:

Horribly expensive without insurance
Can dry your skin
Very toxic to fetuses
Takes about six weeks to kick in
Stops after about a year
Pretty bad initial breakouts

I reviewed this product a couple of weeks after I started using it. Now, I am giving it one less star. I've been using it for over a year now and I've just decided to stop. Here's why: it stops working. My acne came back with a vengeance about three months ago. Initially, the Ziana broke me out, then made me face look absolutely fantastic for several months. Friends noticed and commented. It even changed the very nature of my blackheads...when I'd extract them while on Ziana, they'd be easy to remove and very hard and solid. Simple extractions, no mess, no secondary infection. It sounds weird, but it was definitely a big change for me! I guess Ive gotten to know my blackheads pretty well over the years. (I'm 28 and have been dealing with acne for at least 14 years now.) And then, suddenly, bam. It stopped working. Lots of cystic breakouts again and varying the quantity of Ziana didn't do a darn thing. I decided to just give up...especially because I want to try getting pregnant this year. Back to the "natural" route once again! Bottom line: if it is between this stuff and Accutane, definitely go topical first. And if it works, great -- but be prepared to give it all up when it either stops working or when you want to make babies!

Pros:

None so far.

Cons:

Allergic reaction.

I'm not going to be too quick to lay the blame squarely on Ziana, but I started using Ziana about three days ago, after my dermatologist prescribed it for me. By the second night after I started to use it, I got an allergic reaction on my arms and wrist area (like hives). I thought it was too odd of a place for it to be from Ziana and chalked it up to eating something I didn't know I was allergic to. It went away very quickly. Last night was the third night and today, I'm having a very bad allergic reaction. This time it's on my face as well. Unfortunately my derm isn't available on weekends so I have to wait until next week to get any answers from him, but I'm not sure if it's from Ziana. I'm hoping it's not. I'm not going to use it tonight and see what happens. Has this occured to anyone else? Or maybe someone you know of with not only Ziana but any acne prescription? I've never had an allergic reaction to anything else before, so it's really odd for me.<

Pros:

Tube lasts a long time - I bought mine in April and I still have at least 25% of it left.

Cons:

Didn't work for me. Dries skin out. Be sure to moisturize religiously and use a very gentle cleanser.

I used proactive along with birth control pills for years and my skin was always "ok". It was by no means great but it wasn't the worst. I had to be taken off the birth control pills and within a matter of weeks my skin was atrocious. I dealt with it with over the counter products for a year before I gave up and went to see a derm. He prescribed Duac and Ziana - alternating between the two each night. My skin definitely got worse before it got better however I see no overall great improvement. Instead of getting big, monster pimples I just have lots of smaller ones. I placed a lot of hope in this product and it let me down. My dermatologist said it would take about 3 months to see results. it's been 5 and i'm no better off. Maybe it works miracles for some people but it didn't do anything for me. I'm going to see a new dermatologist this week.

Pros:

none really

Cons:

started to clear up after a week or 2 for about a week then took a turn for the worst...hasnt cleared up at all since, only gotten worse

ive been on this for 3 1/2 months. .and my face has only worsened since i started it. and the worst part of it all is im getting married in 5 months--and i was told this would for sure work. so im bummed. :( hoping something else might work....maybe benzamycin?? not too mention i had to pay out of pocket because i have a high deductible and it was $275.00 for me. too much for it not to work. cause if it did work id pay it in a heart beat

Pros:

-Overall made my skin texture smoother, maybe?
-Clears up skin for short periods of time.
-Get almost no cystic bumps or big pimples.

Cons:

-Lots of oily little white heads, which I never used to get.
-Did I mention my face is sooo oily. I have to blot it every other hour or so throughout the day...
-I'll get a bad flare up every other week or so.

I want something that gets rid of my acne ALL of the time, not just half of the time. This clears my face up for a bit, but my skin is incredibly oily, and I still get breakouts. It just replaced one type of acne with a new one... After giving it a try for about 3-4 months, Ziana isn't cutting it. I'm going to the derm tomorrow for a switch.
