Pros:

-It makes parts of the skin soft
-It's not that expensive if you have insurance

Cons:

-Skin peels really bad around mouth
-Doesn't help if you use it as a spot treatment
-Doesn't help for cystic acne
-Makes it hard to apply makeup because skin is so dry
-Need tons of moisterizer
-Doesn't really clear acne at all, makes it look worse in fact

I'm 19 years old and I have delt with acne for 8 years. It has been a battle to keep my skin clear. I have awful cystic acne. It takes about three to four weeks for one of my pimples to go down. I have really sensitive skin so they look blue like bruises. It is very hard to cover these spots and it gets harder when they are really dry all around the cyst. My acne makes me really depressed and keeps me locked up in my dorm room. I have been on Ziana gel for about a month and I have not seen any improvement in my cystic acne and the acne around my mouth has gotten so much worse because of how dry the Ziana makes my skin. It hurts to open my mouth and make expressions. If you don't have severe cystic acne, I would give this gel a try. But if you do, I wouldn't waste your time or money on it. I am going back to the drem to try something new this week. Best of luck to all of you that try this product.

Pros:

Smooth face
Better texture/ reduction in pore size
Worked quickly for me

Cons:

Diarrhea
Yeast infection
Face felt shiny

Within 3 days my face felt as smooth as a babies behind. Texture was consistent and glowing. However the diarrhea is a bit concerning- I will probably have to stop. The warnings speak about colitis- something I dont want to risk. I might have to try something else. But my face feels incredible. I'm 28 and it has not felt like this since I was like 7.

Pros:

Brings everything out to surface.

Cons:

Brings everything out to surface.
Extreme purging.
Dries out skin
Makes skin itchy

My daughter has been using this product for over a month now. At first her skin went through extreme purging! Everything was brought up to surface. It seems as though her skin is no longer purging, like it was but it is not cleared up. We are going to give it one more month and then try something else.

Pros:

Inexpensive with rebate card, tube lasts a long time, non-drying, doesnt stain clothes. Helps speed up the fading of red marks.

Cons:

Isn't a quick fix but nothing is. Expensive after rebate card.

I have been using Ziana at night for 7 weeks. I also use Klaron in the morning and am taking 115mg Solodyn and 100mg Spironolactone. I had the Ziana in my cabinet for 2 months before actually using it because I was terrified of the horrible purging many experienced. I have a lot of hyperpigmetation and some scarring from cystic acne after my pregnancy. The regimen overall seems to be getting me under control. I have noticed my red marks fading much faster since I started using Ziana. I did not have a purging period but it didn't really clear up the acne I had either. Overall, I would recommend this product in combination with other oral medication and a morning topical for acne. Main highlight for me is that it helps fade red marks. Good luck!

Pros:

Helped redness
Didn't dry
Calmed acne a little
Worked ok on back acne

Cons:

Didn't clear pimples
Messy
Caused some breakouts

I used this product for a few months each night, and I didn't see any progress as far as clear skin. Maybe it was just my skin type, I'm a bit surprised, since my dermatologist prescribed it to me.

Pros:

Cheap, if you have insurance + the discount card
Doesn't smell
Don't need to use a whole lot of the product

Cons:

A bit sticky
Takes time to work, apparently

I've been using Ziana for 4 weeks now. I'm really glad I came to acne.org to check the reviews -- I was worried that it wasn't working, but most people below are saying that it takes about 6 weeks to see results. At first, my acne got a tad better...and now, at week 4, it's worse. I'm looking forward to an upswing soon, if everyone else is right! They say to use a pea-sized drop of the stuff, but I find that it's not nearly enough to cover my entire face. I end up using about two peasworth -- one for each half of my face. Everyone else reports excessive drying, but I'm not seeing that. In fact, my derm-o told me to STOP using moisturizer while using Ziana. If my face gets dry, she said, use less Ziana -- don't introduce or increase moisturizer in an attempt to compensate. I only had one of two dry patches near the corners of my mouth, but they went away with a single drop of CeraVe on each patch. I'll report back after 6 weeks!

Pros:

Reduces redness from scars quickly
Get a lot for the money
Not harsh on skin
Seems to be reducing pore size

Cons:

Can make skin oily
Some improvement in skin texture but not clear yet.

I am on week 3 of Ziana. I'm 25, female and just this past few months I've been getting crazy breakouts in areas I've never had before. I think it's stress related. Ziana has worked well so far. It cleared up areas where I had a lot of acne and the scars healed a lot quicker than they have before. I am also taking Doryx everyday (150mg) and washing my face twice a day with a glycolic wash and using Aczone as a daily spot treatment. I haven't seen a huge improvement, but I am seeing some improvement, which makes me want to stick with it. Everyone else on here says you have to be patient. I'm giving it another month. I have a few pimples now but no where near what it used to be so I am thankful for that. I also am getting monthly microdermabrasions from my dermatologist, which is really supposed to help. Have a dermatologist do your microderms, not an aesthetician. Dermatologists can go over your active pimples to suck everything out of them to bleed them out. Aestheticians cannot go over your active pimples. One word of advice to people: Your Acne is never as bad to others as it appears to you! Also, stress is VERY powerful. Your skin reacts to how you feel. Reducing stress should really help!

Pros:

-Just started and skin appears clearer
-Doesnt make face too dry
-Doesnt make skin ultra sensitive to the point of breaking and extreme sensitivity

Cons:

-Not seeing a huge difference like I had hoped but I guess I have to wait more

I wish that this would work faster! But I do see a difference and people have been commenting that I have clearer skin, but they also know I am on a regemin so I am not sure!

Pros:

I can feel it working. Some days my skin is clearer than others, but I have only been on it 3 weeks.

Cons:

This is my 3rd week on Zania and my chin area is completely broken out. I'm so embarrassed I don't even want to walk outside, or go to social events. However, my derm told me that this will take about 6 weeks to start working. I'm so tired of using products that do not work on my skin! I'm praying that Zania will start working soon!! I'm not going to give up until my 7 week check up, by then if I'm still breaking out I'm done with Zania.

This product has not worked right away for me. I am breaking out wose than I was before, but I hope that is part of the process.

Pros:

Almost all clear!

Cons:

Burning, peeling, itching, soreness, initial breakout, made scars stand out

The first few weeks I used Ziana, I definitely thought that I was going to quit. I have used tretinoin in the past and it did not work out. I was extremely nervous when my derm prescribed me this (I have very fair and sensitive skin). At first I experienced a major breakout within a week. It was horrible. My skin got extremely oily and then dried out. It itched and stung. My face was sore to the touch. But, now about four weeks later my skin is way better. I still have a few tiny bumps and my scars seem to stand out more, but hopefully they will start to fade. One thing to note it that this product is very thin and runs out of the tube easily, so you can end up putting too much on. You want to use as small amount as possible and I only use at night. I mix it with a fragrance free and dye free lotion to get it to spread easier. Overall I'm very happy, but I think that I'll probably end up switching to something else once the card runs out because my insurance doesn't cover it.
