Finally makeup free!
I am 25 years old and have always had acne. At age 12 I started proactive and that was able to keep my acne to a minimum but still I was never completely clear. My acne was never horrible, but I always had 1-3 active zits along my chin/ jawline (sometimes cystic) and a few on my temples and forehead. After I got new insurance that didn't require a refer to go to a derm I finally decided to see one. He prescribed me Aczone in the am and Ziana in the pm. I was very cautious at first--I started using a gentle cleanser and bought cereve pm moisturizer since I had read reviews that my skin would get extremely dry. The first couple nights my skin got a bit red and itchy from Ziana but after night 3 that totally stopped. I also didn't find that it made my skin sticky or oily at ALL. However the cerave pm moisturizer DID, so after about 2 weeks I discontinued use of that and did not need a night moisturizer. There was a purging stage---weeks 2-4 I saw an increase in active acne in my hot spots (chin and jawline) with 2 cystic zits. But even though I had about 4-5 active zits, they would disappear quickly before others would pop up. Of course any purge is going to suck but i promise if you stick to it you will be so happy. It took about a month for everything to totally clear up, and now I am 2 months in and my face has been PERFECT. I have not seen even one zit for an entire month. My face is so clear that I don't need any makeup at all. My hyper pigmentation from past acne is slowly fading but that will require a bit more time. I am so happy with the results of these 2 products! Also, just FYI I do not have sensitive skin so all of that redness/dryness/pealing/ sun sensitivity did not happen to me at all. If anything my skin is actually perfectly hydrated since the proactive was drying out certain spots, now those are gone!

Pros:

blackheads & whiteheads gone
works fast!
doesn't dry out skin
makes skin smooth
no adverse reactions with sun/UV rays

Cons:

none as of yet

I just turned 22 years old and have been battling pimples, acne, whiteheads, black heads - you name it, since puberty. I've seen dermatologists since I was 12 and tried a million different things, and nothing has worked until I tried Ziana. This is A MIRACLE. Seriously, I've never had such amazing results in so little time - 2 weeks and for so little money - ZERO dollars! I wish this stuff had come out ten years ago and maybe I wouldn't have been much more confident about my appearance in high school and college. I recommend this to anyone, heck I'll even be their spokeswoman!

Amazing!
When I was around 18 my skin became extremely sensitive and I got a lot of white heads and small pimples daily. It wasn't so bad but it was just all over my cheeks and easily coverable but I could never leave the house without makeup. I went through that for about two years and finally decided to go to the dermatologist. She prescribed me Ziana and I started using every other day before I went to bed for the first three weeks and then after that every night. The first month or so it calmed my existing white heads but I noticed a few new ones. It wasn't as bad as many others have experienced but I did get pimples (bigger ones than when I wasn't on the medication) but they would go away quickly. I also noticed they scarred darker than my acne in the past. I also noticed by face burned a bit when I washed it or when I went to the gym and sweat because the medication does make it sensitive for the first couple of months. I also did experience some minor flaking and peeling. I've now been using it for about 6 months and I've never seen my face so clear! It cleared up all the marks, and I haven't got any acne for the last month. The only annoying part is that around my chin it still flakes a bit (but that can be fixed easily with lotion) and my t-zone is a little oily (which was never the case before). But in my opinion those things can be fixed so easily and I love my skin now. I would definitely recommend this for anyone!! I have mild-medium acne and It definitely worked wonders for me.

3 months in - a miracle drug from week 1.

Pros:

Small amount needed
Starts working within 1-3 weeks
Invisible, doesn't smell

Cons:

none

>be 30 year old guy. Struggled with cystic acne so much and for so long that I even went off the deep end and turned my diet upside down and took Vitamin A pills like some people in the forums. Decided to break down and go to a new dermatologist though I was fearing she would give me the nuclear option: accutane. To my surprise (she was attractive), and secondly she didn't recommend accutane at all. Instead she said my cystic acne should be helped by Ziana. She also told me to wipe the silly coconut oil off my face to eat like a normal human - though I choose to avoid diary wherever possible. 2 weeks into it I could feel and see a difference. My face felt softer. I feel like almost immediately upon using that the cystic acne didn't hurt as much but disappeared at their normal slow pace. Once gone, I didn't get another one. I used to get 1 per week - and sometimes as much as 4 at a time. I would gladly pay $500 per tube of Ziana - luckily insurance prevents me paying more than $20. I love this stuff and I would brush my teeth with if it wasn't frowned upon by the warnings inside the packaging.

Pros:

Very easy to use, quick, effective.

Cons:

None that I can think of.

This is not a miracle drug! Don't expect anything to be. But of all the things I've tried (and really, I've tried it all), it's the most low maintenance product with the best results. I just put a bunch of it on my face (more than a pea size) at night and my skin is noticeably better. Yes, I still get acne and break outs, but they seem less severe. Most of my whiteheads are gone and my skin is much smoother. The one $25 bottle I bought isn't even half way empty and I got it 4 months ago. I use cetaphil face wash first, then ziana, then a moisturizer. Maybe for those who have had a bad experience they have a different kind of acne than me. I had a lot of white heads that would eventually turn into pus filled pimples (gross, I know) that I could always pop. Maybe it doesn't work for those with cystic acne or little tiny pimples. Good luck!

Pros:

Worked quickly
No side effects
Got rid of my acne problem!

Cons:

Dries skin that a moisturizer can't fix right away

I used this along with the oral pill, Doxycycline. So honestly it could have been the pill that helped my acne problem, or maybe it was a combination of them both. But for this product, less is more! My doctor told me to use it every night all over my face. But I used a TINY bit every other night, and only on my forehead, nose and chin (where I had the problems). I eventually worked up to more as my skin adjusted to it. My face did not get worse before it got better, it just gradually became clear. It was also only really dry for about 3 days. Now I might get about one pimple a month, and it would be a small one. It's so nice to not have to worry about it anymore! I've been using it for about 4 months now. Now I just have to get rid of the acne scars!

Pros:

Fades acne scars/dark spots
Controls acne flare ups right away
Balances skin tone

Cons:

Drys out skin first couple of weeks
Creates redness
Causes sensitivity if exposed to sun often

My dream prescription. I had given up on topical and oral treatments and was on the verge of coming to terms with my adult acne. Paid a visit to the derm and he suggested Ziana based on my age (29), type of acne (hormonal), and skin (bi-racial). I have been using this once a day, after cleansing at night with Glytone - which I also swear by for those adults who want to combat acne and aging skin - along with Doxicyclone, an oral antibiotic that treats bacterial infections from the inside out. This three-step ritual has been my saving grace. I noticed results immediately. The gel worked to clear up the surface of my skin and the oral medication helps future breakouts by treating bacteria internally. For those that have had acne for years as I have, you know that bacteria is the root of all pimples and both the Ziana and the Doxi have cleared up my skin in a matter of weeks. The cons I listed are worth it because the dryness doesn't last once your PH levels balance out. And the tube is huge! You only need a pea sized amount - the gel spreads easily and is so effective that there is no need to slather on. Will continue to use until my derm stops prescribing. Worth it, worth it, worth it!

Pros:

Gentle and effective on my skin and acne.

Cons:

Expensive without insurance and can dry skin.

I had doubts about Ziana at first. The gel didn't seem very convincing. I had swollen pimples on my forehead and the worst BACKNE ever. Every night I applied a thin layer to my back right after showering and waited about 15 seconds to dry before putting on my clothes then going to sleep. in about a a week and a half, MY ACNE WAS GONE! Great Great GREATNESS! ;{D

Pros:

Shrunk pores
Cleared up acne
Not drying

Cons:

Skin becomes a little more oily

Prior to going to the dermatologist, I had very oily skin (it would become slick about two hours after washing my face) and tons of cystic acne that would leave bad scars. On top of that, it was extremely sensitive to the point where any drugstore medicated creams, gels, lotions and washes (salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, I've tried also anti-bacterial washes, scrubs, high end and low end... everything really) as well as some prescriptions (tretinoin .1%) would cause my skin to flake and sometimes scab over while new acne was still forming and oil was still producing. It was strange. On my first trip to the dermatologist, I was given Ziana gel to be used after a sulfur wash at night and taken with 75mg of spironolactone. In the morning I would use Cetaphil, a Clinique toner (number 3), and spf 30 Aveeno moisturizer. I was told that it wouldn't work for weeks and possibly months, but literally after the first week I noticed a dramatic difference. I was ready to experience the "purging" and have my skin dry out, but none of that happened. All the cystic acne stopped to form and my skin started to brighten up. I've been using the same regimen for about four months now, and I have probably had three pimples that were noticeable in that whole time. I get occasional little bumps but those go away overnight. My scars finally have a chance to fade, and I think the Ziana helps it along. The only downside I've noticed is that my skin is still oily and possibly even more so. I'm still trying to figure out a way to tame it. I had a friend who told me a few weeks ago that my skin looked porcelain and perfect and that meant so much to me after 7 years of terrible acne! I would recommend this product to anyone.

Pros:

great skin clearing, anti-aging benefits of a retinoid (helps cell turnover and collagen regeneration)

Cons:

can cause redness for sensitive skin, can't use this if you have a history of ulcerative colitis etc

A little goes a long way. Do not use a lot. Worked very well for me. For those that have reported acne getting worse while using it, this sometimes has to happen, any current acne pustules on your face that are already beginning to surface need to purge so you can clean the pores. It may take 8-12 weeks before you get optimum results so you have to be patient with any acne medication. With this product you also need to gradually use. I do not use this everyday. Start using 1 day/week and work up. It may be helpful to use an oral antibiotic in addition to the topical use of Ziana for the 1st month as my doctor did. I have adult combination acne (cystic and papules) and this is the best my skin has looked. I use this product 2-3x/ week and then I started using a natural green clay mask 1x every 2 weeks. (Indian Healing Clay: Calcium Bentonite) P.S. I paid nothing for this product go to Medicis Medisave program on Ziana's website to get a coupon. My dermatologist also gave me a manufacturers coupon for 1 free 60g tube.
