Pros:

it's not a pill

Cons:

It cost me $40 copay and expires every 6 weeks. kind of expensive. So far not working

I need a little more time with it. Right now I apply the duac in the morning and Tazorac at night. So my skin is extra itchy. I have not noticed any difference in my skin. I was on Doxocyclin for 6 weeks but due to YI I had to stop taking it. The doxy clear up my skin pretty nice so hopefully the Duac & Tazorac will keep it clear. Otherwise it's Accutane.

Good at first then stops working and worse than before
This product initially worked for me, like a lot of other people on this thread. I used it for 3 months and was very happy at first, although I also experienced blotchiness and some redness that I didn't have before. I would say the first month or so the clearing was the greatest then I started noticing new breakouts popping up here and there. By the end of 3 months, I was pretty much as bad as I was at the beginning so I stopped. What I noticed when I stopped was that my skin had been continually irritated, not just zits but red and I had a really slight itch. I don't know how to explain it other than it wasn't normal. When I stopped my skin went back to 'normal', I guess normal for me. Still lots of spots but not irritated. Bad news is that once I stopped my skin got even worse and I had the worst acne I have ever had. It was really depressing but I was convinced that this stuff isn't for me since in the end, it didn't really help my skin. I went for a facial and the estetician (sp?) recommended Ninja skincare to me. I hadn't heard of it before but googled it, read loads of reviews on it and really none were bad so I called them. Their customer service was really incredible. I spoke with a woman for nearly an hour about my skin, she gave me a list of products she would recommend for me and I was an idiot and didn't write them down. When I made my order, I guess I ordered the wrong products for my skin so they held my order and told me they didn't want me to order the wrong stuff and have it not work. So we changed it back to the right stuff, I got it like a month ago. It is wonderful. I have never been so happy with my skin, with a product line. Every day my skin is getting better and I just couldn't be more thrilled with the results. After years of trying everything, I am happy to have finally found a product that works for me. I know duac has worked for a lot of people but I would be curious how many of them have had long term results? It didn't work for me ' but I guess some people have had some success.

Pros:

Eliminated almost all blemishes after about 2 months.

Cons:

Only kept my skin clear for about a month and a half, and now, several months later, it is worse than it has ever been.

It did wonders for a couple of months, when I first started using it, but after that "honeymoon stage" it all went downhill. I have continued to use it, in the hopes that maybe it will help again, but to no avail! Of course everyone's skin is different, but it certainly hasn't been worth the money to me for the past several months.

Pros:

- Non drying (within reason.) I found that using a moisturizer about a half hour after application for the first week or so helped my skin get used to Duac, and now I don't have to.
- Slowed rapidly re-appearing acne.
- Free, but so is everything because England is a don country.

Cons:

- Didn't do much...

Sorry to do this guys! No one likes a bad review. I do think this product has a bit going for it, it's fairly gentle and I'm sure for anyone with light acne it would work, but for me Duac really doesn't fit the bill. I hope this isn't premature, as I'm at about the 3 1/2 week stage, but I mean results are seriously lacking. I'll happily re-review if Duac is planning a sneaky clear skin surprise within the next few days, but honestly I think I'm going to have to swap product. I'm using this along side tetrcycline, but it's far to soon to see results from that. My skin is exactly the same as it was when I started use, with the exception that I have far fewer white heads but equally as many blemishes in general. In a nut shell, I have a lodda spots. My advice to anyone who was reading this, if they've just started using, or are intending to use duac wouldn't be to be put off. If your acne's light, give it a go because the fact that it's gentle means its going to do less long term damage to your skin... (No scientific knowledge behind that so I could be wrong, it just felt a logical assumption?) But if your acne is moderate or worse, try something else. To be totally honest, I'd probably not recommended it. But that's only because It's not worked for me. Good luck anyway :) x

Pros:

I don't know yet

Cons:

drys out your face HORRIBLY! also bleaches fabrics.

It is So DRYING! I can't even make a facial expression after i put it on. It makes my skin flake and when i try to put on make up it stings. I just got samples of this from my derm 2 weeks ago and have been using it once a day since, and I have not seen much of an improvement. I would say don't use this if you have sensitvie skin. I am going to stick it out a little longer but i really don't know if it is worth the horrible drying effect.

Worked at first...

Pros:

Cleared my acne
Hardly any side effects

Cons:

Dryness may be an issue for others
Will eventually stop working

I was prescribed with duac back when I was 14 and it cleared my acne brilliantly. I didn't suffer from any side effects and dryness on my skin lasted for about 4 days and then it was gone. Up until now I have been using duac and unfortunately after about a year of using it my skin became very resistant to it, and the duac just didn't do anything for me. I recommend using it and trying it out, but don't rely on it being a cure as your skin will become tolerant to it.

Pros:

Cheap with insurance
Seemed to absorb well

Cons:

gave me a yeast infection after 2 days!
Can lead to bacterial resistance

I was super reluctant to use an antibiotic, as I am very sensitive to the way they screw with my internal flora balance. My dermo said that I should just use this for a few weeks to settle down my recent, out of the blue, flare up. After 2 days, I had yeast infections symptoms. That's not worth it for me. I read up on it, and it seems that even topical antibiotics are risky for digestive problems and candida. I am sticking to slower tea tree oil, clay masks, ACV, and finacea for red marks.

Cons:

I couldnt stand the side effects! i mean 3 days and my face is still swollen, jus from a small application. i am on the 5% BP and 1.5 C. Its awful, wot a price to pay for beautiful skin. I cant continue it. I am African but light skinned.

Pros:

It seems to work for other people!

Cons:

For me, my skin is just too sensitive :( I used a very tiny bit (less than half a finger tip) on my skin on the first night, by the next evening my skin had bubbled and blistered up and is red, raw and very painful.

If you have sensitive skin I'd advise doing a patch test behind your ear first. I paid £7.40 standard prescription charge so it wasn't too expensive at least.

Pros:

The only place it keeps 100% clear strangely is my forehead, which was the spot I kept breaking out initially

Cons:

There's a bunch....

It appeared to be working for me the first 2 weeks, then on week 3 it caused giant clusters of tiny whiteheads all under my chin, on the sides of my face, my cheeks and temples (?). Really not sure why...I was using Cetaphil moisturizer with it at first but I thought maybe that was reason I was still breaking out so I stopped. It's strange stuff, not worth the 30 bucks I paid. I'll probably go back to using PanOxyl; I can't figure out why it's CAUSING more pimples than I had initially when others had such great results. Has anyone else had it cause lesions?
