Pros:

Cheap
Easy to do
Effective

Cons:

I guess it could be messy but I do it in the shower so it's not a problem for me

I've spent so much $$$ on different products that I pretty much gave up 3 years ago. Nothing worked at all, most of them just made my skin dry or more irritated, and I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide (which didn't work anyway). Recently I was wondering if there was a way to at least fade the left over red marks and I read that baking soda was a home remedy. I thought I'd give it a try since I had nothing to lose. I sloppily rubbed some half-expired baking soda on my face during my bath and the next day my marks were already half as light. I heard that some people leave it on at a mask but then it burns your skin so I don't leave it on (plus I am too lazy anyway). I just massage it into my skin after washing my face normally with gentle normal soap. Then I thoroughty rinse it off after a minute. I've only done this every other day for 6 days (so a total of 3 times) and my marks are about 90% faded.

Pros:

*great for exfoliating
*dries up pimples
*can be used as a wash, mask, or spot treatment
*cheap!

Cons:

*have to use oil free moisturizer
*give it some time to work!

After having allergic reactions to several different acne medications, I was looking for something that would get rid of my acne and not irritate or cause an allergic reaction. I had heard about using baking soda but was a little sceptical, to be honest, but decided I had nothing to lose. I made sure to test the wash (a tablespoon or so of baking soda mixed with a tablespoon of water) on a small part of my face to make sure I wouldn't have an allergic reaction. The next day, I tried the wash on my whole face. I did this for a few weeks and combined it with two other things. I washed with a salicylic acid wash, then exfoliate with the baking soda, then use an astringent pad. I also used the baking soda as a mask every few days before bed. It works great! It gently scrubs off all the dead skin and leaves my face very smooth. It tingles to let you know it is working, and it got rid of my oily forehead and chin. The only con is you have to use an oil free moisturizer (I only use it in the morning) or your face will get dried out. Also, you have to give it some time to work and allow your skin to heal. I have tried so many different things and nothing has worked for me the way this has! I have incredibly sensitive skin and have had allergic reactions to so many things, but this works great for me. If you are looking for something new to try, I would definitely recommend trying it!

Pros:

clears marks/scars
clears acne after 1 use
makes skin smoother
natural

Cons:

can dry/irritate skin of you do it wrong

before i used baking soda, i had light acne, but pretty severe marks from severe acne in the past. i have the kind of skin that gets hyperpigmented even if i dont pop the pimple. that left me with marks on my cheeks like freckles. ew. a couple weeks ago i tried baking soda and immediatley had to stop cuz it made my face bright red for days. the problem was that i left it on for too long. but last night, i tried it again and just used it like i would with a normal face scrub, just circular motions for about 30 seconds. this morning i woke up and looked in the mirror and almost fell over cause of how much ligher the marks were. i think i got a little over excited though and used it this morning too, and it dried me out again. so, im gonna stick to just nights :) THIS STUFF IS A MIRACLE!!

Pros:

It lightened acne scars, cleared up pimples dramatically, and prevented any more from coming to head.

Cons:

if the skin was already irritated it can burn and is a little messy.

If you mix it with water and just paste it on your acne will lessen along with scars. I didn't rub it in and I left it on all night like a mask. In the morning I was shocked with the results. My scars were incredibly lighter. I would use it if you have a few hours before going out just in case your skin got red.

Works overnight!!
I mix a small amount of baking soda with a small amount of water to form a paste, then I apply it with a clean foundation brush to any affected areas on my face. I let it sit until it goes dry and then gently rinse it off. Afterwards, I dab some hydrogen peroxide on and then leave it at that. Works frickin fantastic! Only thing that will clear up my cheeks. I only use this method when I'm having a bad breakout but it works!! Stops the pimples in their tracks.

And another quick comment, I never actually rub it into my face. Just gently pat it on and gently rinse it off :)

Pros:

-closest to an acne cure that I have found
-cheap
-very effective
-amazing spot treatment

Cons:

-can be messy

I was using Dan's regimen for a few months; I used the cetaphil wash, bp, and AHA. However, I still broke out. Yes, my acne was better, but it was not GONE. This was the little miracle that got my skin to be ACNE-FREE. After I rinsed my face with the cetaphil wash, I put the mask on and left it on for about two minutes, four-five days a week. The first time I tried it, I had 3 huge zits; by the third day of using the mask, two were gone, and the third was just a tiny little pink bump. I have never, ever seen this kind of result before, not from any product or any prescription. I wish I could have discovered this sooner, and I beg whoever reads this to PLEASE, PLEASE just try it for a week. It works wonders! I have sensitive/acne-prone skin, and this completely changed my face!

Pros:

Calms redness and size of pimples
Helps even skin tone
Balances sebum production
Fine granule powder; not really abrasive
Softens facial skin

Cons:

Stings if put on more sensitive areas of the face like the nose and upper lip.

Before I start this, some advice which is important that you must know...DO NOT exfoliate when you have inflammations on the skin. This either results in making them much worse, or causing even more acne on your face...I learned that the hard way, unfortunately. :( On a better note though, you have to make sure that you don't scrub whatsoever with this, and even try not to scrub it in, if you have current acne inflammations. It is better to dab it on, to avoid causing furthur irritation; but if you think that massaging it in like a scrub will be beneficial to your particular skin, then go ahead. This is just from my experience and a bit of common knowledge about my acne condition. To make, you simply put some in a bowl, and add a little water until it makes a cement-like paste. Easy as that. :) Then just dab it gently on your whole face or the affected areas. If your skin is sensitive like mine, leave on for 1-2 minutes. If your skin isn't, leave on for a maximum of 5 minutes. Overall, I like this mask. So far, it has been quite effective for my hard-to-please skin...and trust me, hardly ANYTHING works for my acne, especially not chemicals. I have been using a strawberry cleanser for my skin for the past few days, which I got from the book Organic Body Care Recipes. (Which I give special credit for a beautiful face recipe.) Buy the book and check out the cleanser recipe. There are also alot more great recipes from masks to toners, and of coarse cleansers and more...definitely reccommend the book to anyone. ^^ Anyways...I dab the baking soda on over top of the cleanser on all of the affected areas, leave it on, then rinse off. The bottom line is, I find baking soda is effective to clear acne. It bleaches your skin and gives it a more even tone, and shrinks and calms the redness of your pimples. Good luck with it! <3

Pros:

Works better than anything I have used!

Cons:

Nothing at all

I wash my face moring and night with baking soda and my redness is almost gone! my blemishes are hardly there, and this is only after 2 weeks! I've tried so many other products that just don't work. I have also been doing an egg white mask and between the 2 very cheap and simple remedies, my acne is almost gone! I never leave comments or review anything, but I am truly amazed at how well this works. I want other frustrated adults to try it...because it work so well for me.
