The best!
I love using baking soda for acne marks. It takes a while, but it does work. What I do is make a paste and apply it to my spots. I let it sit for 5 minutes, rinse and moisturise with coconut oil. I do this every night!

Pros:

- Very inexpensive
- Reduces swelling and redness of pimples overnight
- Makes my skin kind of look like it's glowing

Cons:

- It's messy. Don't forget to rinse out the bowl you mixed it in, because it's hard to scrape out when it dries. The first time I applied the mixture when it was still runny, and it got stuck in my hair.

- It burned some, but most face washes have that effect on me. What I really didn't like was how my face felt afterward- sort of tight and stiff. I didn't have any moisturizer so I used some sunscreen to soothe it. It worked so that's what I have continued to do.

I was skeptical, but after all these reviews I thought I'd give it a try. It's crazy how fast this seems to work! I'd never believe it if I hadn't seen it for myself. Most washes (Clearasil, Neutrogena, Proactive..) leave my face irritated with little effect on the acne. The first time I tried baking soda, I only used it on part of my face. I could not believe the difference the next day. To all of you who are skeptical about trying this, I say you should give it a chance!

Pros:

Cheap!
Exfoliates REALLY WELL -- baby soft skin!
Controls oil really well after washing

Cons:

Can taste a little salty if it runs in your mouth accidentally...
May be a bit drying to those with dryer skin

I have oily skin. I use BS to exfoliate my skin once a week. Exfoliation is recommended 1-2 times a week because more than 2 times will lead to irritation (redness, dryness, more pimples...). Scoop about a tspoon into a small container. Place several drops of water until it's pasty. Apply on face and rub gently in circular motions for about 2-3 minutes. Then rinse off and pat dry. THEN FEEL YOUR SKIN! And because this is an antibacterial agent, your face will be free from bacteria after you wash (and pimples!) Please apply a good moisture (I use Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel) so that your new skin cells can be hydrated. And some SPF so that you don't get skin cancer! It has faded my acne scars and evened out my skin tone. And it has reduced pore size (due to the exfoliation).

that clean feeling
After having your usual acne for around 3 years i started to wonder if putting chemicals on my face was such a good idea! I knew about the baking soda method a long time ago just never tried it. What a mistake that was!!! After your first mask which i left on for approx. 5 mins, my face felt SOOO CLEAN! And a bit red if im honest but that soon faded! This clean feeling would last for ages after the mask too! Ive recently broke out with blackheads around the bridge of my nose which is unusual for me but baking soda has helped drasticly! PLEASE TRY THIS!!!

Pros:

cheap, easy to use
exfoliates and makes skin smooth
makes blackheads less visible

Cons:

dries skin

Baking soda is super useful. I don't use it every day because it dries out my skin, but its nice every few days as an exfoliator. I used to wash my face with cleanser, apply the baking soda to my wet face, and leave for a few minutes as a mask before washing off (exfoliate as you rinse it off). However, that really dries out my skin! Now I rinse and apply cleanser to my face (I use Dove Cool Moisture [with cucumber and green tea] when I do this), then mix baking soda with the cleanser on my face, leave on for a couple before washing off.

Pros:

-makes skin soft
-did not irritate skin
-very cheap
-noticed improvements with my acne

Cons:

tastes salty..

i have had bad acne on my chin and around my mouth for about a year now. i am now in 9th grade and people make fun of it and my self esteem has been destroyed. i looked on here at what has gotten good reviews and i saw this did. i went and made a paste and applied it. i left it on for about 1 minute then washed it off. this morning i noticed an improvement in the 2 biggest pimples. i applied it again but left it on for 10 minutes and then washed it off. i hope this works because i have tried so much like acnefree and mychelle products as well as neutrogena and proactiv. I cant say wether it works or not but so far it has given me hope. i suggest giving it a try.

Pros:

- reduced my pimples/blackheads/whiteheads
- started using it about 2 years ago and still use it
- really realy cheap and easy
- wiped imperfections and evenly toned my skin.

Cons:

- DO NOT USE THIS EVERYDAY. I was using it as my only skincare product, with a bit of moisturizer after, morning and night. It DRYS your skin completely. Only use as an exfoliate maybe once or twice a week
- In my long term use, my skin became noticibely lighter than my neck and chest. I received numerous comments about this, but only from people I spent like every day with (family and close friends).
- DO NOT USE EVERYDAY otherwise this may happen to you. Once of twice a week as an exfoliatio

Good for 1-2 times a week use

Pros:

Its all natural. And cheap too!

Cons:

Just a little burning, but I have super sensitive skin so I expect it.

I've been reading so many good things about using baking soda so I thought I would give it a try. It's to early for me to tell how well it will work but I have faith! I used it last night and this morning mixed in with my Mary Kay deep cleansert and then I used it tonight as a paste with water. It burned a little especially on my lower jaw where I am broken out, but it's ok now. I applied mosturizer afterwards but no salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide as usual, I dont want to mix the two. I'm hoping to see some good results when I wake up in the morning! I will keep posting!
