I love this

Pros:

WORKS

Cons:

Itchy sometimes

I have severe acne scars from years of acne on my cheeks and I've just started using this product a few days ago. It works already! The scars are definitely still visible but many seem to be lighter or diminishing in size. I don't know why everyone is saying it needs to be applied 3 times a day, my bottle says it should be applied just once a day.

Do your scars gone ☺

Pros:

works great!

Cons:

very itchy!

I am a light skinned African American and I have very sensitive honey complexion skin so when I get a pimple it scars very easily. I had three scars for all a few months old and nothing else I tried eliminated the scars. I put the Maderma on before bed and I when I woke up the next morning and looked in the mirror I noticed peeling where I put the medicine. I actually peeled the skin away revealing new skin and the scar was almost completely gone!

It takes effort, but it works!
I have had small blemishes here and there, and I put Mederma Gel on after my blemish has opened and began to scab over. (even though you are suppose to wait, it has always work best, FOR MYSELF, to apply it after it's opened) I use a hot towel to warm my skin up then apply Mederma Gel directly to the dark spots and scars that I have on my face. I'd say, FOR MYSELF, after a solid week, it is either gone or has turned lighter to the point where you can't tell until you are directly in my face. +I am mixed, so when I scar they sometimes become darker, but Mederma helps me out A LOT! I use it usually before I go to bed, and I'll probably put a little on after a shower once my face is clean. +It does itch my face somewhat, but I don't scratch at it. + I would say if you have scars on you, use the heck out of this. I use the Gel, I wasn't very fond on the cream, but I'm sure it all works the same. I have used Mederma Scar Gel for over 4 years now and it is the only treatment I will ever use. 1 tube usually lasts me a year and it's very handy to keep around.

but for me the scar has turned darker… is it possible that the scars get darker in the beginning and then get lighter? :(

so if it worked, why do you need to use it for so many years?

Pros:

- softens scabs from picking at acne
- heals new scars quickly
- reduces redness overnight
- overall improvement of texture and color

Cons:

- takes a long time to improve old scars

I absolutely adore this product. I get large pimples around my jawline which often leave an ugly sore or scab when popped. Mederma has really helped soften the scabs, while making the skin pinker instead of a bright and agitated red. Although the tube claims you shouldn't use this on open wounds, it's worked really well for me on open sores and I have yet to experience a problem. I have noticed that it will put a shiny film over open sores, but this is beneficial if you want to cover it with make-up. Mederma seems to make the most dramatic improvements when left on overnight. I usually leave a large drop on the problem area and rinse it off in the morning. Although it does sort of get stuck on there it can be removed with warm water.

Pros:

Works well for ACNE SCARS
get a bang for your buck
not at all irratating
easily put under make-up
works with other products

Cons:

3-4 times a day is a little tedious
cost is a little high
takes a couple weeks

I have used Mederma on my big, red, bumpy acne scar in the left area of my forehead. My scar was very embarrassing and lowered my self-esteem quite a bit. I used Mederma for about 2 weeks and my scar is almost completely gone! I sometimes only apply twice a day, but it seems to not effect the process much. It works very well with my other products such as Retin-A micro, and causes no irration! I would reccomend this product for anybody with moderate acne scars! P.S. When using product, I put on Mederma last, so it doesnt get rubbed off!

Pros:

-Faded my new red scars within a couple days
-Helped control and deter active breakouts
-I like the smell :)

Cons:

-Can be pricey
-Takes time to rub it in completely
-May peel and start to itch

I am in love! A month back I had a seriously horrible flare up that wrecked havoc on my face. About two weeks ago I started putting Mederma on my face at night after I cleansed. I get in 2 to 3 layers a night, alternating between mederma brand gel, and kroger brand scar cream. After I had done this just three days, I was already getting compliments on my complexion! It even helped get rid of active pimples on my face and is helping push out blackheads (which was a totally unexpected and fantastic bonus). One downside is I can't put it on in the morning, because my makeup will make it peel. Also, make sure to rub it in completely- keep rubbing until it starts to dry- or it will have more of a tendency to peel off, especially when you are adding additional layers. I have had a great success with using these scar creams, you should try it!

Pros:

- Reduces redness
- You start to see an improvement (on acne scars) in only a few days!

Cons:

-The horrible itchiness!
- It has to be applied 3 - 4 times a day
- Peels if not rubbed in all the way

Mederma is great! It really helps with acne scars, and it reduces the redness quickly. However, do NOT use this product before you go to bed. The itchiness will drive you crazy! One night, I woke up and realized I was furiously rubbing my face against my pillow. Haha.

Pros:

Personally I think this item is awesome! Has completely saved my skin from a very bad habit of skin picking! It's very important to understand how it works however to use it properly. It does inhibit the growth of collagen, so it is thinning the skin and breaking it down a bit. This is only to be used on scars, not all over your face! If you use it religiously, and use it right it does work!

Cons:

Mederma is thinning your skin, so you need to be aware it is going to be more sensitive. Do not use your harsh acne products or any harsh product alongside this! Aha's, retinols, and benzoyl will certainly make your skin very dry and worse if used with. Make sure you are moisturizing. It can cause breakouts, so you may want to use every other day.

This stuff works! I saw an incredible amount of repair happen. I had 3 huge scars on my face! When I used this during the day and curad scar therapy pads cut to size at night, my skin completely healed. I also took 2000 mg of vitamin C and fish oil, a multivitamin, and alpha lipoic acid every day to aid in healing. It is so important to make sure your immune system is boosted to allow it to heal your skin. Also drink tons of water and limit stress. The stuff acne sufferers should know already! Also those complaining about the price should check out ebay! I got 2 tubes for 12.00! Be resourceful folks!

Pros:

I've used Mederma religiously for facial acne scars for nearly 5 years now.
Older scars do take time to see a noticable difference, but if used 2-3 times a day on new scars they aren't noticable two months out, even under my magnification mirror

Cons:

None. I'm not picky about smells. I care if a product works and would rather the smell be 'natural' than covered up with toxic perfumes and synthetic fragrances.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate this product. Notorious for overusing the metal extraction tool & messing w/scabs...I devised an affordable regimen *no longer have health care insurance & can't afford montly derm visits* It's solved my olive skinned hyperpigmentation/scarring issues due to hormonal cycstic flare ups: *50% glycolic (Amazon; Perfect Peel Solutions) *Jessner's 14% (Amazon; Perfect Peel Solutions) Soak a q-tip w/ either one or both of the solutions. Dab on forming or existing issues & old scars. Through knowledge of my own skin tolerance & experimentation, I found the right amount of time to let the solution work before washing. Afterward, lightly layer Mederma, Avalon CoQ10 Firming Lotion w/ niacinamide ([link removed]), and homemade comfrey salve. My skin has never looked so incredible & for so little using reasearch, resourcefulness, and webstores. I can't believe I used to spend so much on doc & facials!

Works great on acne hyperpigmentation!
I'm 20 years old and I have normal, non-sensitive, pale Asian skin. I had a few dark acne scars on my face that weren't going away for 2-3 months because I picked at my pimples and tried to pop them when they weren't ready. They have been bothering me forever, and hydroquinone only broke me out and I felt like it didn't do much for me. I decided to tackle the problem not by bleaching my spots, but a "medical" way, since they were are a result of inflammation and skin damage; in other words, they were scars. I've been using Mederma for 10 days and I applied religiously two to four times a day, rubbing the gel for about 5 seconds per spot, and I'm quite happy with the results. My acne scars are still there, but they have diminished more in those 10 days than 2-3 months of not doing anything to them and/or using hydroquinone. And Mederma didn't break me out. Yes, the gel can feel itchy at times and is kind of drying, even for my skin. Just try to keep skin moisturized before applying, don't overuse, and don't apply Mederma when skin is too irritated. Yes, the price can be a bit costly but if you have hyperpigmentation scars from acne I definitely saw improvements and the packaging specifically says it works on acne scars, so I say give it a try. (I think it was significantly cheaper off Amazon.) I do not regret trying this at all and the tube will last me quite long, I think. However, I don't know about paved scars because I haven't used the gel for those. I did not know it would work this fast, but it did! I can't wait until my acne scars go away completely. Best acne product I bought along with BP. Will keep on using.
