Pros:

-Prevents acne scars from newly-popped pimples
-Very light feel
-Can wear it as a UV protectant
-Can use on cuts/marks around the body

Cons:

-Pricey
-You have to act quick! -Won't do much/takes a long time to see any effect on old scars

I would reccomend this to anyone who is getting acne for the first time or wants a light UV protectant with an added bonus. Too slow/not porwelful enough for old acne scars.

Pros:

It has the possibility of helping

Cons:

It is pretty costly

So, I bought this just kind of on a whim because I thought it might work for me. I have tan skin, and everyday I put it on 3 times. I looked at the ingredients label just for fun to see what was so special and it contained octocrylene and like two other "active ingredients". Then like 5 days later I looked at my chapstick, and saw that my 100% organic chapstick had the EXACT same ingredients. Now I like experimenting so I decided to stop using the mederma, and start instead putting my chapstick on my face. It actually for me worked so much better. It had beeswax, honey, and other yummy ingredients for my face along with the "active" ingredients found in Mederma. Also, I think the only reason why it is so expensive is because it says it can "reduce scars" when in reality my chapstick can do a better job >:) While I thought my discovery was pretty awesome, I found out that the active ingredients were sun repellents. Which makes sense because the reason why scars linger is most of us don't wear sunscreen which prohibits the healing of scars :) Anyways, you all should look into certain chapsticks, because you might save a lot of money and time!

Pros:

none for me.

Cons:

this stuff dried my skin out so harshly it hurt. i do have dry skin to begin with.

i did not see any improvement in old scars and new scars formed thickened skin, which is something i have never experienced before. i do not recommend this to people with dry skin.

Pros:

It might help eliminate scars.

Cons:

It made me itch like CRAZY. Don't use it on your cheeks!

I read all these amazing reviews on acne.org, so I was excited when I bought my Mederma. I also read the warnings about the itchings but I thought I'd give it a go. The first application, it didn't itch at all, and I was glad. I used it about three times (in a two day period) and as I continued use, my cheeks became so itchy!!! It felt like my mind was losing it becuase it itched so bad so I scrubbed it all off with water, and the itching calmed down after 10 minutes. It did seem to work a bit, but the itching is not worth it. Bottom line, I wouldn't use it for the face. I'm only using it for the scars on my legs, and it seems to work.

Pros:

I just started using mederma 2 1/2 days ago, so can't really say yet.

Cons:

ITCHY!! REDNESS ON CHEEKS!

Does anyone have the same situation happend to them using Mederma?? I'm using it on my cheeks for acne scars that were left from when I was in high school. I'm 24 now, so the scars are pretty old. Anyhow,I've noticed that my cheeks turn red and after awhile my cheeks begin to itch. I try not to rub but when I do it,the mederma lotion comes off like in flakes. IS THIS NORMAL?? Someone help me please I want to know if I should stick with the itchyness and redness or should stop using it. Also, I've noticed alot of people have commented on the odor, but mine doesn't have any odor. I'm wondering if the company of the product fix the odor problem or if my something is wrong with my mederma??

Pros:

it helped to fade my old acne scars and new ones

Cons:

there is no foul smell for all those people saying there are...but it won't leave anything if you rub it into your face -- gently.

Pros:

I have acne scars and a really uneven skin tone. mederma has taken away much of the redness and I've only been using it for a couple of weeks. Some of my acne scars are fading too. It smells really fresh and doesnt break my skin out either.

Cons:

I'm not sure if it's working on my pitted acne scars.

I can't put it on three times a day.

Buy it.

Pros:

I just want to say that the directions do say that for old scars you have to use it 3-4 times a day for 3-6 months.

Cons:

So all these people complaining that it doesn't work also say that they only have been using it for a month or so.

You have to follow the directions and not be lazy about it. Just be patient and it will work. I have a fresh scar and have been using it for about a month and see significant results already. I also started using it on an old scar and see a little bit of results already. It does itch and get a little flaky but its a temporary drawback to get rid of a big scar. I am using the Walgreens generic brand.
