Pros:

it usually works

Cons:

it smells horrible.. it bleeches fabrics (i believe it is the 3rd step).. and its a pain to put on.

eh.. ive used it on and off for YEARS... it clears up my acne on my back decently.. but it always comes back.. its just a vicious cycle.

Pros:

It has been clearing up my acne & I haven't got a pimple since I've been using it ..

Cons:

It drys out your skin , and the first time you use it burns like crazy & made my face itchy

I only been using this product for 3 days and I've seen an amazing amount of change ! My face used to be so smooth and silky but now it really dry , even knoew it has been working my face is too dry , I've been trying to use the green tea moisturizer but it seems to me it's not been working my face hurts it so dry and I have Natually oily skin but I don't know what to do about it , and it still burns a little it ! But on the positive side it has cleared up my acne completely ;o

Pros:

Terrible, terrible customer service

Proactiv worked for me during the time that I used it, although I did get quite a bit of flaking/dry skin. I also started Ortho-Tri-Cyclen during the same time period, so I am not sure which was responsible for how much of the change. One point I thought I'd mention - when I wasn't contacting Proactiv, I was fine with it, but their customer service model is really awful. It took about 10 days for them to SHIP the product after I ordered it, which seems ridiculous given their whole business is based online. And cancelling was a nightmare. I cancelled because I am trying to save money, and with the BC, I don't really need anything this strong anymore.

CLEARS UP REALLY FAST W/ OLD 2009 FORMULA
NO PURGING PERIOD

STOPS WORKING AFTER 7 MONTHS

I WISH IT WOULD OF KEPT WORKING I WILL BE HONEST I USED TO PICK MY FACE BAD!!!! NO EXAGGERATION THIS WAS A MIRACLE THE FIRST WEEK! I WAS A METH USER "CLEAN 15MONTHS" THIS ONE OCCASION I PICKED MY FACE SO BAD THERE WAS HUGE SCABS IT WAS AWFUL I HAD MILD ACNE BUT FROM DRUG USE IT BECAME TERRIBLE. I DECIDED TO TRY OUT PROACTIVE IT WORKED FAST. THIS WAS IN 2009 DECEMBER. THEY CHANGED THE FORMULA A FEW MONTHS AFTER I THINK MARCH 2010 I DID NOT LIKE THE SMELL BUT IT WORKED FINE. MY ACNE WAS NEARLY GONE EXCEPT ONE OR TWO PIMPLES NOTHING SERIOUS. I STOPPED USING IT JUNE 2010 BECAUSE I WAS BREAKING OUT AGAIN. DIDN'T WORK LONG ENOUGH FOR ME AND ITS EXPENSIVE THEY FALSE ADVERTISE IN MY OPINION. EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE I HEARD OF PEOPLE THAT KEEP USING IT FOR A LONG TIME AND IT WORKS BUT NOT FOR ME.

Pros:

Controlled acne pretty well and that's about it

Cons:

Made face flaky
Made my face irritated
Never really did clear it up

Bottom line is my experience wasn't horrible, it controlled my acne quite well but it never cleared it up. My face always felt dry but never dirty.

Pros:

*Does clear acne
*Makes face smooth and soft
*Gets rid of scarring/uneven skin tone over time

Cons:

*If you miss even a SINGLE day you will get at least one nasty pimple soon after.
*Expensive/Overpriced
*Made my face lighter or not tan the same as rest of body?
*Over use will make skin peel (only use once a day, and less than that when starting out, skin must slowly get used to it)

I've used this product for several years since I was a younger teenager, I'm now 20. I can say that it does work, but only IF you use it every single day! I can vouch that it works, but I would also NOT recommend it. After all the years of using this product, I have finally decided to stop using it for good. Now that I'm 20 I shouldn't have nearly as much acne as I did when I was a teenager. Yet still for some reason if I missed even one day, I would break out! The active ingredient, Benzoyl peroxide, works by killing all the bacteria on your face. The problem is that your face becomes dependent on it, so it can't fight any bacteria off by itself anymore. So if you stop using it for even for just a day sometimes, you break out. I was able to slowly taper my skin off of using it, and now you know what!? My skin is exactly the same as it was while I was using it. I get pimples just as often as I did while using it. My skin is still 'nice'. This product is way overpriced for what its worth, even with perfect use you will still get some acne. Once you've used it for a while you will notice that you will break out when you stop using it. After a while it feels like you're being forced to buy more and more, like you cant quit or you'll get acne! It is possible to stop using it without breaking out by slowly tapering off of it. That's what I did. I would just recommend avoiding this product if you can, I'm sure there's cheaper and more efficient ways to deal with acne.

Pros:

The product seems to be working.

Cons:

The customer service really sucks. I followed their directions to get the automatic shipments stopped. and returned an unopened package as they directed. I called them because 10 days after receiving the product they did not credit my account. They said that the credit could take up to 6 weeks. This is ridiculous.

Buy somewhere else directly and not through their web-page.

It heals fast

Cons:

It is very expensive compared to acne.org. It is not worth the price. The main problem with proactiv is that acne bacteria becomes resistant to tis ingredients. Why? Because acne bacteria tries SO HARD to survive on the skin that it basically fights with the product for the pore area and after using it for more than three months you will see that the initial results will begin to reduce until it seems like your wasting your money cause it doesn't do anything anymore. I'm a microbiologist.

Overall proactiv is not a product that you could use always. Acne.org can be used always because it heals and you won't be struggling with the fact that it doesn't work, because it will clear your skin.

Pros:

Treats acne to certain extent

Cons:

Can be harsh on skin. Does an OK job of preventing breakouts. Should be less expensive.

Not as effective as claimed. Do your own research -- there are other products (including retin-a, etc.) that are much, much better.

Pros:

Moisturizes skin
Cleared up bacne significantly
Lightened scarring somewhat left from acne

Cons:

I broke out initially (but that's to be expected when using a new product)
Didn't help with whiteheads

My biggest problem with my acne were whiteheads. Proactiv did not help with the whiteheads I had and didn't help to prevent new ones. It did however help with little bumps on my face. I would definitely recommend using it for bacne. I had body acne on my chest shoulders and back. In two weeks my chest acne had improved and is much better today. Everyone's body is different, this is just my experience. I would say try it. If it doesn't help for one thing, it may help for another?
