Pros:

Soft skin - for the first 2 days....

Cons:

Extreme dryness
Burning
Little bumps all over my face

My skin literally feels like sandpaper right now after only 4 days of use. It is extremely dry and irritated and I've bleached all of my towels. Yes, it says in the manual that you should use a white towel b/c of the bleaching, but I forgot and any person who doesn't read the fine print won't see this warning. I am SO dry and just can't bare to use this product any longer - AFTER ONLY 4 DAYS. I called and canceled my future orders immediately and it was relatively easy - but after reading these reviews, I anticipate additional charging without my knowing it. My skin is not normally sensitive so thought I would be ok with this product, but right now it even hurts when i just run water over it. I sincerely hope that my skin goes back to normal soon - walking around looking like I was dragged across a rug face-first is not a good impression. Gross.

Pros:

-Helped to control acne.
-The refining mask works decently for spot treatment/concealing.

Cons:

-While it helped me get less acne than I would normally I still had regular breakouts and my acne never fully went away.
-On the expensive side for what you get.
-The multiple step process is a bit tedious.

I used the stuff for years. I have moderate stubborn acne and proactive helped to eliminate maybe half of the pimples I would have otherwise gotten. However, I believe it is reasonable for one to expect an acne fighting product to actually get rid of all (or most) of one's acne. Proactiv never succeeded in doing this for me. If you have light acne you may find some success with using this product but otherwise I cannot recommend Proactiv.

Pros:

I made my face feel soft and clean.

Cons:

Did not keep acne away.

It may work for some people but may not for others. I have mild/moderate hormonal acne and used this product for a few years. It never kept me clear or kept acne from continuing to come.

Pros:

It did clear my skin fast

Cons:

My breakouts are worse then before, it stops working after about a month.

I've been using this product for almost three months and it did clear up my skin after about a month of using it. But now it's like it has stopped working, my breakouts are worse than before I started using this product and they aren't just little zits, they are big, red zits! Also I have had to spend a fortune in cover-ups to try and cover up my new acne!

Pros:

-Good for teaching teenagers how to properly clean and moisturize skin
-Good for light acne or poorly cleaned skin

Cons:

-Helped for about 3 months, then stopped working
-Just cleans and moisturizes, doesn't really treat acne

I used this for about 6 months, then quit because it wasn't any better than the stuff you can buy cheaper at any store. Also, astringents or "pore refining" products usually seem to make my acne worse or not help at all. Irritates my face too much. I think it cost me $60 for a 3 month supply. I didn't find ProActive products to be worth it. The product should be able to sell itself, without the use of celebrities in your ad campaigns.

Pros:

it sort of worked... but i had to be anal about it.

Cons:

didnt leave me clean.

i switched out of proactive to another and i started breaking out. i read somewhere that if you switch out of proactiv your face starts freaking out. i think that's true. but i wouldn't use proactive just because i used it for like 2 years and it didnt dramatically change my face at all. i guess it just didnt make it better.

Pros:

got rid of smaller blemishes

Cons:

aggravated nodular cystic acne
expensive
smells chemically
damages skin
caused me scaring
dried out skin
made skin very sensitive

Did not work for me and my nodular cystic acne. The renewing cleanser actually hurt me because my skin was so sensitive, and the moisturiser i found just sat upon the skin and wasn't absorbed also the moisturiser was very oily, the toner was probably the only good thing. the refining mask didn't do a good job of helping existing acne. Honestly this product is for people with light acne at most. It stripped my skin of its natural defences and left it susceptible to sun damage. Im currently on retin-a right now and havent had nearly half as much skin sensitivity as i did with proactiv. false advertising is all this product is. ***completely my opinion this product may have worked magic on someone else with my skin type but i was not impressed at all with it.

Pros:

Controlled breakouts once they happened

Cons:

Didn't stop breakouts
Never fully cleared up skin

Proactiv is a decent product, but it's overpriced and definitely overhyped. My results from it were a bit of a mixed bag. When I did breakout badly, by using the product I was able to get it under control within 3-4 days. The problem was tho, that next week I would break out again. It never did a decent job actually stopping, or even slowing breakouts. Plus, altho it did make my skin a little clearer over the two months I used it, my skin never fully cleared up. It only works so well, but at some point my skin stopped improving and just maintained.

Pros:

Refining mask is a lifesaver

Cons:

Hassle to use
Other products from the line aren't dependable
Terrible for sensitive skin
Makes skin very dry after use
Harsh chemicals
Expensive

When I had this product I was always too lazy to go through all three steps so I mostly only used the refining mask which worked very well overnight. Other than that do not use this product if you have sensitive skin. It will make your acne 20 times worse due to it's harsh ingredients. I only recommend this product to people who have a light to moderate amount of acne and who will most likely only use the refining mask. The chemicals in this product are bad for any kind of skin in general and the entire package is pretty expensive so I recommend saving your money for a more dependable/safer product for your skin and your dollar.

Pros:

- Skin feels clean.
- No irritation.

Cons:

- Results don't show fast.
- May not even work at all.
- More steps than most other products.

Ive tried pro-active two times. Both different ages and both different skin stages in my life. I first tried it when I was 17 when I had severe acne. It did not work at all and after using the entire bottle I did not see one improvement whatsoever. Now, I am 21. My acne is very unpredictable when it comes to breakouts. It has been a very bumpy road, and right now is one of the more difficult times. I decided to try pro-active again. It still does not work at all even after going through the entire process for 45 days. I am very disappointed and now am on doctor prescribed antibiotics and topical products. Note: When I was 17 I payed the original TV price. But the second time a few boxes were given to me for free by another unsatisfied customer.
