I have had acne since I was 14 and I am still having to struggle with it even now being almost 20! Bottom line is topicals that are endorsed by celebrities on TV do not work for people who have moderate to severe acne. Systems like Murad and Proactiv give off the impression that they are going to solve your acne problems for good but the reality is that your best bet is visiting a dermatologist. Murad DOES NOT work! I used it religiously for 6 weeks with no improvement and my skin actually got worse. I can tell you that the oral medication called Solodyn worked wonders but using it over a long period of time can cause liver damage as any oral medication can but my results from that were amazing! I'm on once a day Epiduo, which is a prescribed topical gel from my dermatologist and I've only been using it for two days so I can't review it yet. But for all the gorgeous girls and handsome boys out there struggling with skin problems you're wasting your money with Murad because it doesn't work. I encourage you to visit a doctor and stay positive! Acne is so disappointing so why waste your money on one more product that is going to disappoint? Your acne will go away, but Murad is not the cure!

I will never touch this stuff again.
Back in March, I quit my birth control, and my skin exploded like none other. I guess I had mild acne as a teen, but for the most part, I had clear skin. Anyway, I was mortified by how bad my skin was, and nothing seemed to be working. My sister's friend is an esthetician, but I don't think she's a very good one; the one time I had a bad breakout my senior year, the stuff she recommended gave me a rash and didn't help at all, and then she told me to use this kit, which, let me tell you, made my skin 100x worse. Fast forward to May. My skin was still pretty bad, so I was desperate to try anything. I initially started with the Murad anti-aging time release wash, which didn't do so much. My friend told me that my skin was actually looking worse. Then for my birthday, my sister got me this kit. At first, it didn't seem to be hindering or helping, but then all hell broke loose. My skin was very dry, red, and the cleanser and toner just seemed to make my skin even more inflamed. My skin was so, so dry, and the moisturizer didn't seem to be helping at all. I was literally peeling. I got huge, bumpy blackheads on my cheeks, and I broke out all over my cheeks, too. I've never gotten acne on my cheeks before. I tried the spot treatment too, but it just made things so worse. My face had gotten so agitated, that I pitched the kit. Best choice I ever made. I say crap to the 'purging' period. Apparently that's a myth too- just look it up. If ANY product is reacting badly to your skin, I would never advise to 'stick through it'. Yeah eventually your skin's equilibrium will go back to normal, but to me, it's not worth the suffering. How long the reaction lasts depends on the person. The way my skin looked was so awful, it was embarrassing. No person should have to go through that. I went back on birth control, and am using Mary Kay's Velocity facial wash. After 6 months, my face is finally almost completely clear. My skin had no adverse or negative reaction to this wash when I first started it. It only made my skin better, which I know is an excellent sign. Seriously, if you've got sensitive skin, stay away from this.

I agree.... Went to a aesthitian , did a facial, went in with mild acne. After trying this product, which was highly recommended by them my face went Cray Cray ! Rash , pimples, horrible. I curse them everyday for screwing up my face. Now had to see a dermatologist.

Pros:

cleansed well
toner was nice

Cons:

spot treatment left terrible marks behind

used this when i was younger... still have scars from the horrible acne and scabs it gave me. i used it for a couple of months, and at that time my acne was moderately severe. the spot treatment is what caused the burns, scabs, and now scars, they have faded, and are gone with some makeup, but i have one above my eyebrow that i have cut bangs to cover. I did not apply too much, it just caused a horrible reaction. also, my skin never stopped "purging" even though i was on it for a little under three months.

Pros:

Reduced acne for about 2 days (not by much)

Cons:

Cystic acne
Horrible breakouts
Oily skin

I used this acne kit for about a month and a half and it basically destroyed my skin. I went from having a couple white heads and regular pimples to big, red cystic acne. I still have scars from what it caused. Don't use it.

Pros:

Available in stores
No benzoyl peroxide
Most products in the kit last a long time

Cons:

Doesn't work
Somewhat expensive
Some of the products smell bad

I have tried many acne products with little success. What attracted me to this product was its availability in stores (vs. having to buy online) and the fact that it doesn't contain benzoyl peroxide (therefore doesn't bleach my pillow cases and towels). The product did not work for me. I had moderate acne before starting the kit and now have worse acne than when I started. The spot treatment smells bad and the tube ran out after a couple of weeks. The other products have lasted me several months and I still have not run out; however, I am discontinuing use because of the poor results. This product may work for others but it did not work for me.

Horrible product, will ruin your life.
This product made my skin blow up with acne, and for the first time in my life (I'm actually past my teenage years), I was nicknamed pizza face. I started this treatment when I was applying for a new job and since my forehead made me look like I had leprosy, I had to cut my own bangs to cover up my forehead. I switched back to Proactiv and now the damage from this sh*tty product has been reversed. AVOID MURAD AT ALL COST!

Pros:

Feels refreshing..

Cons:

Little bottles, Expensive, MAKES SKIN WORSE!!!

I bought Murad two weeks ago , i used it for FIVE DAYS and the first day it felt refreshing then the second day my face started itching like crazy.. I though it was normal but then the third day i got a LOT of white heads in spots IVE NEVER broken out.. then i called and they said it was normal and part of the "purging process" . The forth day i saw my face and Makeup couldnt even cover the bumps i literally started crying , my mom saw my face and said it made me get a rash..Im still waiting for my face to heal.. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS , GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST . Ive been using my old skin routine and its helped a little. DONT PAY MONEY TO MAKE YOUR SKIN WORST PEOPLE.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Broke my skin out worse then at anytime in my life and it is expensive.

I started using the product and everything seemed ok for the first 2 weeks and then my face starting exploding in zits. They say it is a purging process but I kept using and my face never cleared up. I had to go to the doctor and get put on antibiotics to stop the breakouts caused from this. Dont waste your time or money.
