Yeah it might be trapped or the receptors are "retinol resistant" Regarding cholesterol my levels went dangerously high when I started mega doses of retinol, but they are now normal.

Would this be gut receptors? might explain why I can tolerate a huge amount of retinol.

Thomas76 I take retinol to increase dryness not reduce it, be carefull retinol feels very similar to being on accutane.

Also want to point out I don't get bronchitis as much as I used to, so maybe I didn't have enough retinol in my lungs aswell, or it could be just a coincidence.
