Hello

I've been on Accutane since June 2023 and currently on 60mg.

On October 9th, I noticed that I had big red lines on the corners of my mouth. This was concerning so I visited my doctor and he prescribed Clotrimazole. I tried that for 2 weeks with no success.

So now it's October 23rd and I got a prescription for Nystatin & Triamcinolone Acetonide. I tried that for 2 weeks along with taking vitamin B supplements, changing to SLS free toothpaste, and massively increasing my water intake. Still no success.

By this point, I'm getting worried. It's November 6th and my dermatologist tells me to stop taking Accutane for a while and see how that helps. Well okay. So I completely stopped taking Accutane and here we are on November 15th.

Does it look like I have permanent scarring on the corners of my mouth?

The picture was taken October 9th.

Accutane is so hardcore. It's crazy sometimes.

Just from one layman to another, no, it doesn't look permanent to me. I have a feeling you'll heal up well over time. But it might take a little time.

To support that healing, ask your doc just in case first, but fish oil helps with healing. I take literally 5 or 6 pills every day myself. There's good evidence that it helps heal people after surgeries and stuff, so hey, can't hurt. Also, try eating low-inflammation, so low carb, whole foods, not eating processed stuff...at least until you get back to normal.

A little more info on stuff you can do.
