Does anyone have any idea what these things are? They're kind of jelly like and slightly stretchy. The tweezers just seems to take the head of them off more often than not hence the digging which I absolutely hate but it seems to be the only way to get them out and once they are out the sore will heal.

I™ve been trying to figure out what these tiny plugs were and I couldn™t find in any dermatology book or websites so I™m glad I could finally find some info here in this forum.

Anyway, the lesion started as one œpimple that never healed (around 3-4yrs ago). I would fade a bit with topic corticoids and antibiotics but it would never heal 100%.

At the moment I™m using fusidic acid + betametasone and clotrimazole. The lesion is a bit smaller and I don™t see the white plugs as clear as before. 

Did anyone try laser treatment or any other treatment that has cleared this nightmare?

Thanks for any info/ advice.

Ive been treating this for a year, after 5 years of spinning my wheels with completely unsympathetic dermatologists.

First I want to thank everyone for showing & being so open with their sores!! These plug have many different components, I read on another form a womans veterinarian sent these plugs in for her out of her own skin for testing & they came back having 3 different types of fungus in them. Since 2006 I have been looking for answers, because my skin looks like all of these pictures .. Though with more research & having to go to Alternative Drs i did find they also have the Lyme component in them & are part of the Morgellons disease. I have found three things that have helped 90%which is Amazing for me !! First I found the Low Dose Immunity therapy to be the best help so far!! Than definitely several different anti fungal creams -over the counter & on Amazon,because of the different types of fungus in them! But this last one The Ordinary for the keratin has been awesome!! Thank you Leesamo for letting us know about this product! Dont give up there is a bit of healing in these products.I hope that all of you can get some relief! Its definitely a nightmare.

June 2017 Post:
A photo from Google lead me to this Thread; because the "Fleshy Plug" in the photo looks a lot like what I have (and others posting here) from what started out as a feeling like I got punched in the arm (or a vaccine shot) let me explain...

About 5 months ago I woke up and my side arm/shoulder was hurting as if someone had punched me in it; more so it felt exactly like the pain I had after getting a Tetanus Vaccine Shot after a motorcycle accident around 2006... The area was slightly irritated in look (slightly tan red as I am tan skin tone) and hard to the touch in an area that was about the size of an oreo cookie...

I began to massage and skin roll the area (BIG MISTAKE!!!) and the area began to soften up and it actually began to come to/form a zit/pimple type head, this popped rather easy a small amount of puss like a small pimple came out nothing uncommon it seemed; and then just a bunch of clear (interstitial fluid or possibly the demodex mites secretion???) came out...

One thing seemed odd about the location too as it seemed like it was in exactly the same area I received the shot; like the pimple seemed to be right where I got that shot at and the pain was exactly the same and considering much of the medical industry has no clue how or where these pimples come or form from its my opinion that some sort of bio-toxin from the Vaccine caused it or that the mite is actually cross inhabitating humans from animals; specifically dogs...
My neighbor gave us a couch and he had dogs; however no one else in the household has any signs of these at all...

Over the next day or two it began to look as if it was healing like a normal popped zit; but then it just stayed a Hard Purple Scab Color but it was Not a scab it was a Very Hard Purple zit; as if it was a hard blot clot just under the skin...

At this point I went to work to get that thing out of me; think it was an ingrown hair as that is what it kind of looked like... I basically ripped and scrubbed the hard lump off down to what I thought was my raw flesh; but no in-grown hair... It then seemed to be healing like normal, but it never turned to a scab it turned to a white hard skin callus...

For me this was odd as all my life my wounds always healed well and in the same manner this was different...

I soaked in the tub and the hard white callus came off after some scrubbing... This is when I noticed what looks like white heads in my pores under this false scab, so I used the tweezers to pluck them out a few looked like small fleshy hairs; then I plucked one that looked like a tadpole but the size of an ant (have a photo of an extracted one, dont know how to post it)... Since then I have pulled over a dozen large ones and the layers come back with force thicker...

I then found this thread and tried a few things to see if I can rid them or get them into balance... So far not much has worked; it is however staying local to its original location...

I want to note too I noticed my friends 17 year old son has one still in the first hard purple pimple stage; he said hes had it for going on 3 years now, they have a dog...
A couple other people I know also had them one on the scalp and stomach others on their shoulders and backs; all also dog owners or in households with dogs...
Vaccine status isn't know for the other parties at this time; however they all had to get them cut out and sticked up surgically...

A neighbor of mine got a Tetanus shot in the arm about a week later he had the exact same symptoms painful hard purplish lump which turned callus hard after popping/picking...
The Doctors prescribed him 2% "Mupirocin" Ointment; it worked for him after a couple weeks, mine was well over a year almost 2 years in now... This Ointment works somewhat but never really got rid of it in the sense that it would heal like a "Normal" wound would...

A few months ago another neighbor friend got a wart on his hand and his Grandmother is like 80+y/o she told him tear it out some and put Crushed Aspirin in the wound and cover it with a band-aid...
He did that for about a week or two and it went away....

After seeing that I decided to do the ever painful but relieving callus rip out which usually results in plugs being yanked out or exposed enough to yank out...
I found that soaking the area in tub helps loosen up the Callus and if you use Hydrogen-Peroxide it will fry the callus into a white soft flesh that usually is easily torn off... So I would use a combination of soaking and holding a cap of Peroxide on the wound to get as much of the Fleshy Plug Callus to surface...

After this "cleaning" or Plucking Session I packed it with crushed Aspirin; put some of the Mupirocin cream on the Band-Aid and put it on...
I have been doing this now for going into the 3rd week now; If feels as if all the Hard Callus area is now gone and the center no longer Calluses up overnight and the wound is healing in a normal fashion...

My advice now is to soak & tear the Callus off, then soak the open wound with Peroxide pluck and clean some more (I often wipe my hands and area with rubbing alcohol too) and then Finally pack the wound with Aspirin... I did this Twice a day in the AM after sleeping and in the evening before bed... I do it more often if I feel like it but usually no less than Twice a day until I began to see results and all the hard Callus was gone...

General Routine:

Steps to Remove Hard Callus w/ Fleshy Plugs under in Pores:
1. Soak the area in warm water; usually a nice long hot bath does well...
2. Tear off and remove the Callus surface to expose the deeper flesh area which often times the plug head can be seen...
3. Soak area in Hydrogen-peroxide this will cause the effected Callus area to turn to a soft dead skin white color and easier to remove from the body...
4. Apply Crushed Aspirin to the open wound & cover w/ Band-Aid...

Please note that I also used 2% Mupirocin Ointment for some time with slight results for my long term lesion; results really took place after the application of Aspirin to the open wound...

I repeated this Twice a day for about 3 weeks until all the Hard Callus area was gone and the wound felt and appears to be healing like a normal wound on my body does...

I too have suffered from this for years. Ive been to a few dermatologist and they couldnt/didnthelp. One dermatologistsuggested I was schizophrenic. Anytime I get a pimple or some kind of skin trauma (cutwhile shaving) I would slip into a depression knowing I could get a sore that will last 2 or more months because of the keratinplugs that refuse to allow the sore to heal.

I have the solution (it works for me anyway)!!! Wash the infected area and apply Lotrimin Ultra at least 4 times a day. I just had a sore heal in about 4 days using this method. Im not saying it will work for everyone, but its working for me. Youre not alone if you suffer from this. Stay positive and try my suggestion. What do you have to lose?

Eight years of face wounds. I finally realized I was a couple years post-menopausal and my belief that I had some late-life hormonal acne going on was just wrong. The search for answers began.

Thank you to the brave people who bared their pain and posted pics. This site along with simpleslincarescience have helped me figure out and successfully treat my skin problem. I'm at 80% healed up at the start of week4 of treatment.

I think there might be a few different but similar skin issues being talked about here. One of my big symptoms was a deep down itch that had me clawing at the wounds in my sleep. The inflammation, the burn and the pain are all gone for me.

First time out in treatment was a FAIL. Four months ago I tried treating with topical ketoconazole. Gentle cleanser, sterile as I could be...it got better some, then worse...rinse and repeat. I sorta gave up on that theory and kept reading.

A month ago I started again. When I looked at the pics of those fat keratin plugs that were popping out of each lesion non-stop, I knew it had to be the same problem.

New to the treatment plan this time is the understanding of the fungal food chain and how many of those gentle, organic products I was putting on my face were FEEDING the problem. Lots more reading, it's a daunting list of cosmetic ingredients that are lipids, i.e. fats which feed the beast.

[removed] is a great website with easy product lookup, filter for products that are fungal acne safe. I put every product with bad ingredients in a tote and into the closet. I now wash with Vanicream and then smear my face with Nizoral shampoo twice a day. Do a test patch, some skin is sensitive and Nizoral can make you react. Then I moisturize with a fungal acne safe drugstore cold cream.

This time the itch left quickly and I could feel a real change. The first week it felt better but I kept having the white plugs and the weeping from the wound. Week 2 was less plugs and less inflammation and little itch. I'm at the end of week three and 2 of 3 lesions has healed over -still rough texture, flaking and peeling to get past, but this is huge for me. Lesion 3 is on the run.

I don't have health insurance and don't like docs treating me like a mental case (shame on you! only validating patients with easy problems). I wish I could have a physician relationship where oral antifungals were an option. Maybe someday....

The weather is getting cooler so the sweat factor goes down. I'll keep slathering shampoo on my face and hope for the best.

From the looks of other photos the OP (ColdHoneydew), Leesamo, Anne84, & myself all have very similar if not exactly the same thing...
My hunch is that it is a Viral By-Product of a Vaccine; kind of like getting Shingles when your old from having Chicken Pox when young... 

Regardless; the only thing that killed these things off for me and stopped the growing/digging feeling these things create when alive and active is the Crushed Aspirin put directly into the wound... 

Its my belief/opinion that because Aspirin is really Acetysalicylic Acid which (is Salicylic Acid & Acetic Acid put together) I think the Salicylic Acid ingredient kills the Organism...  

Here is a photo(s) of the area now that it no longer flairs up painfully in the center anymore; the Aspirin burns the layers of the organism away until it gets to your natural flesh & the white spots in the middle go away killing off whatever is left in the outer ring scar can be tricky but simply plucking any area (that pimples/flairs up on the ring scar) open and packing it with Aspirin dies it right up in a couple days and begins to heal normal again... 

For the few that I mention above whos photos are similar you have very little to lose at this point by slapping some aspirin in the wound...
Also I have a friend whos dad works at the Recycling Plant and he said he has had them/this in the past and the Dermatologist hits it with Liquid Nitrogen and it freezes up and falls off after a few days leaving a similar scar...

Aussie Scientist thank you so much for sharing this. Me and my Girlfriend will try and see what happens. We have it bad. Real Bad. She has it really bad in her Hair and I have on my stomach and arms and occasionally in my hair. We both have taken large amounts of Antibiotics and I think we keep passing this fungus back and forth along with already having high amounts of Candida andmalassezia.

SlickClick- thx for the aspirin treatment. Your description of the outer ring is exactly what I'm going through now. I've been packing the aspirin powder on after I pluck out plugs and have a raw spot. It does seem to dry it up in a good way.

Fighting this is not easy. It's better! Hooray! Well crap, now this spot that had healed over but still had fat plugs under the skin has erupted again....not as bad as before, but back to an open wound.

I feel like once it's healing over, my topical ketoconazole is not getting deep enough to kill 100%

Elbee; yes after packing the spotted (White plugs in Pores) open wound w/ aspirin the area will turn raw (for me at least) to a Natural healing state... I packed it with aspirin for about a solid month and then off & on when plucking the ring area...
Applying2% Mupirocin Ointment (Bactroban) until my body seemed to have it under control and healing normally...
I still apply it here and there just in case; but its starting to level out to a normal skin/scartissue these days...

Again what I noticed was after applying the Asprin the white plugs stopped forming in the wound but it went to an open raw wound and then healed like if I pulled a thick scab off normally...

Usually takes weeks to months after exposure to notice the infection.The treatment is itraconazole 200 mg per day for 4-6 months. A skin biopsy is usually required to make a definitive diagnosis before treatment. Topical treatments mayhelp some people with existing wound healing but won't cure the infection or keep it from reoccurring. Hope this helps someone.

Most people here do not have the aforementioned... A simple google search shows disgusting flesh eating type of Organism...
This thing is mostly dormant under a hard purple callus like bump...
The photos you see of the "fleshy white plugs" are views AFTER the person "picks" off the Hard Callus area...

I dont think there is anyone in the world who has not picked off a scab; this Organism basically converts the normal scabbing process into this hard skin-like callus...

If the guy who commented above actually took the time to look at the Organism being pulled out of the pores; early stage ones look like white worms and full grown ones (like the one I posted a photo of; which in fact was the first most painful one I removed) look like a pregnant shrimp head or a tear drop barb...

I believe the effects of Modern Day Vaccines are changing the Human DNA which is making the species more prone to Organisms that usually only effect animals; but because they use animal by-products in vaccines those of us who have had the serum put into ourveins are seeing the long term effects...

Ive spent alot of time with horse breeders and vetinarians, I asked them what is the numebr 1 killer of all animals, they all answer the same, worms!!!! then ive asked, how is it all our animals die or are debilitated by these worms yet we are immune?

Ive been posting this on different forums recently, You guys problem with these tiny plugs are coming from severe EFAs deficiency! Go get some healthy EFAs for god sakes!! Typical western diets are loaded with unhealthy omega 6s! But what about omega3s!!? You need a ration of 2:1 ( omega6:omega3 ) and you need it from natural healthy sources! I developed the same, with the plugs, shortly after ten years of hormonal therapy for breast cancer.

I have had clear skin my whole life until a month after the decade of estrogen blockers.

My lesions look exactly like the pictures.

Nodular acne- my sebaceous glands went into overdrive when the Androgens increased. My scalp filled with sebum. Constant headaches.

I am in sixth month of low dose Isotretinoin, and plugs are gone, or fall out. Face is 90% clear, one arm still has four large lesions. Hydrocolloid wound patches heal them in two weeks.

I am 100% confident of a cure, and some low dose maintenance can also keep sebum under control. New, soft skin is an extra bonus because the drug accelerates skin cell turnover, and shrinks the sebaceous glands back to normal size.

Side effects are very manageable at low dose- the press exaggerated the toxicity of this Vitamin A derivative. Still, liver and cholesterol tests are recommended every 2-3 months. Upon reaching full level based upon weight, or achieving 70 % clearance, I am done.

Morgellons is a disease of the mind, a psychosis.

These plugs are nodules, filled with sebum. A disease of the skin.

Nodulistic acne results from the same source as all acne- too much sebum ( your skin's natural oil, produced by microscopic sebaceous glands, which are part of every pore/ hair follicle on your body.

Many things can trigger sebaceous glands to overproduce. Usually, it is a fluctuation in hormones, and the male hormones, Androgens, are the food for the sebaceous glands.

I still believe it is also some kind of micro-organism transmuted into the Human Genome system via Vaccines...
Again one day it felt like someone punched me in the arm or just how it felt after getting a tetnis shot in the exact same spot did this thing form into what I thought was an ingrown hair...
But it turned into a hard purple callus...
Ive never had skin or health issues, never used any drugs other than smoke pot, never had any acne or skin issues...
I do admit that my diet stinks and that it likely is a small factor but because it is on my arm and a surface skin issue; one that has not moved or spread is hard to lean towards some disease...

I think its some kind of wart, mite, or mange strand... I do agree that sebum overload is likely a cause to it too...

Without taking any medications other than smoking weed; Ive found the best way to fry these legions off is with the Crushed aspirin directly into the wound after tearing the callus off& hitting it with peroxide...

As I see more people with these it make one wonder how so many people are getting them...
My Neighbor got a booster Vaccine and a day or so later in the exact same spot he too got the exact same hard purple lump...
And if he tears it off its got the plugs inside... Say what you want but I think its from Genetic Gene transformation via Vaccines...
