Green Tea/sea Salt Toner. Effective And Easy To Make

ManFeelings, something you can do for the morning is to not do anything. At night, do a thorough job of applying the toner and make sure you are using clean pillow cases every other day (since you can flip the pillow over for a clean side the following night) But yeah, as long as you shower at night, you really don't need to again in the morning. You can just get up and go

Or...

You can get some distilled water and make a toner with the same amount of sea salt, but with about 1/4 of the tea you usually use. Should be much less pigmented on your skin. So basically, you'd have a lighter version for the day, and a more concentrated version for the evenings

Yeah I might just not apply anything.

But what do you use to exfoliate? I've heard papaya is a good natural exfoliator.

I totally agree that you should not put anything on your skin that you can't eat, im also thinking of going all natural, ive decided to use this as cleanser, and the acv diluted in water as toner. any suggestion on an all natural moisturizer? by the way thanks for posting this! eusa_dance.gif

Why not just follow the original post? It's kind of annoying seeing all the people posting here saying how they're going to do this except completely different without even trying the OP first.

Here's a couple natural homemade recipes i found online. I'm sure there's more

Also have you used ACV before, or are you currently using it? It's hit or miss. And it may well be a hit for you, but the idea behind the green tea toner is that it's sitting on your face the whole day. There are other natural face washes you can make from home and i'd be glad to share some ideas with you.

I'd strongly consider using this as a toner tho. If you want to wash with it first, and then apply it as a toner as well, i think that'd be a great idea too. Ultimately it's up to you, but just keep in mind that my success, and many other people's success using this has come from allowing it to sit on your face for the whole day/night.

Hey ManFeelings,

A great way to exfoliate is to take the ground up tea leaves from the green tea bag and add them to either yoghurt, cooked oatmeal, small amount of raw honey, or anything else you can think of and rub it all over your skin. The ground tea leaves are a softer alternative to using something like sea salt, sugar, ground coffee (depends on your skin type) I've tried baking soda to exfoliate and it left my skin very raw and irritated. It's very strong stuff, and if you've had success using it awesome. For me it was a bit too harsh

Im thinking i'll use the green tea as an overall cleanser for my face and ACV toner in the morning then the green tea toner at night, what do you think about it? rolleyes.gif

Sure, try that out for a while and see if it works for you. Even just having it on overnight should help you out. And it's a great way to cleanse your skin as well, so i say go for it. Many people swear by ACV, so i hope it works for you

Well, personally when I woke up I didn't notice a difference, but I think I used too much water. However, a colleague did comment on my "glowing" complexion without me mentioning using anything new! That has NEVER happened before! Maybe I just didn't notice an immediate difference because I'm looking for the flaws. Will carry on and make a less diluted batch :)

You may have to give it a bit more time cindybuzz. You might notice some immediate results, but anything substantial should happen gradually over a period of a couple weeks to a month. That's great that someone commented on your skin though. But for sure give this some time before you make any assessment as to whether or not it's working

I'm fairly pale, this made my skin LITERALLY dark green. A friend said it looked like I had terrible fake tan on, it was actually a perfect moisturiser & toner, but oh well.

How about trying white tea which has a light brown tint?

You could only use this at night, and then use a much smaller concentration for the day time. Try only using around 4 tea bags for the day time toner, and stick with the more concentrated for nights. Another user had this same issue in regards to the pigmentation being to strong

Just updated the original post

Realized how this (in it's current concentration) can be too pigmented for daytime use. Even with white tea. A simple solution is to make a much weaker batch for the daytime, and that's basically what i discuss in the edit

soo i guess this is an update...

i've switched from using bitter gourd tea to the Moringa oleifera plant (since we have like three trees of it in our garden)...

has a lot of antioxidants and vitamins and really good for you......

i just brew the fresh leaves, then i add a little salt, vit c , and clindamycin and that's basically my toner which i use 2x a day.

i also try to cleanse with with the brewed tea at least 3-4x a week.

it's been soo helpful..... and i don't have to pay for it!!! i just pluck out leaves from our garden whenever i need it.....

hope you guys are all doing great!

I think this might be stopping me from going to sleep. I started this in the summer when there was no school so maybe I didn't notice it then, I can't remember really, but I applied it tonight after a long exhausting day and couldn't fall asleep. I felt like I would after taking caffiene basically. I know caffiene can asborb through the skin and this has tons of caffiene...so I hate to say it, this might be keeping me up at night. Anyone else have this problem? I applied it about another before bed too so maybe it had more time to kick in.

I'd think that you'd have to be sort of sensitive to caffeine for it to be keeping you awake from absorption but I'm not sure.

Try switching to decaffeinated or (even better) caffeine-free green tea. I've been using decaf green tea since I started with this and haven't had any issues with sleeping. You're still getting all the green tea benefits if you use decaf so it's worth a shot 🙂

Yep ManFeelings, it can have that effect. I think (hope) i mentioned that in the original post, i'll have to double check. But i switched to decaf green tea a long ways back because it was keeping me from getting deep sleep. And like you said, i'd be tired but my mind wouldn't let me fall asleep. The same thing happens when i try to drink regular green tea.

But for sure, it gets absorbed through the skin. Same way the nicotine patch absorbs through the skin. I'd switch to a decaf green tea

Or...

Numi brand makes a green rooibos tea, which is supposed to have even more antioxidant power than green tea. Rooibos is typically red in color, but i've seen the green version in stores. I'm sure you could find it online as well. I'll probably make another update to the OP discussing this.

Awesome Margox, great idea to use it as a mask. Is this something new you've been doing? I know you were making a toner using something other than the green tea, but i'm not sure if this was the same plant or not.

Just updated OP again. For those of you sensitive to caffeine, there's actually what i'd consider to be a better option available than green tea. It's called Green Rooibos Tea. And actually, it may be worth trying out even if you aren't sensitive to caffeine. It's supposed to have even more antioxidant power than green tea. Here's a quick explanation i found in regards to the difference between red and green rooibos tea

The difference between red and green rooibos tea

Typically, rooibos leaves are oxidised before they are used to make rooibos tea. This process, which is not exactly the same as the fermentation process used in making black tea, gives them the familiar reddish-brown color and the slightly sweet taste. However, unoxidised rooibos tea is also available, if you know where to look. The color and taste are quite different; I personally prefer the red version, but green rooibos tea is not bad either.

Like in the case of regular tea, the oxidation process also affects the flavonoid content of the tea. Unoxidised rooibos tea contains more about twice as much total flavonoids as oxidised tea and 10-fold higher levels of aspalathin and nothofagin. In the studies that have directly compared the two, the unoxidised version seems to generally come out on top. For example, unoxidised rooibos tea seems to protect rats from liver cancer more effectively than oxidised tea. The antimutagenic activity of the two depends on the mutagen in question, however.

So lately i've been drop kicked off my high horse, im getting more and more small spots all over my face. Which is such a godamn shame as my skin was fiiinnne just a couple of weeks ago, then for no apparent reason it just decides it wants some godamn attention. If only i knew why. I just wanted to know is it ok if i use normal table salt because i'm all out of funds. If it makes a difference, i'm using loose leaf sencha. How is the concentrated solution supposed to smell by the way?

Thanks for your reply ;)

I was using the bitter gourd tea at first a couple of months then ive switch to this new plant ive been using...... The one im wearing as a green mask on the pictures above....... Ive noticed when i use the moringa oleifera plant as mask and cleanser i feel my face being lifted a bit... Haha a mini face lift and it also feels fresh when i apply it....

Its been helping a lot....... Still have the occasional breakouts.... Hoping everything will turn out for the best
