Yeah i'm not sure Ghost. But like gingergirl said, this is supposed to replace the need for BP. If you're experiencing burning, you might have to pick one or the other. If it were me, i'd drop the BP. But ultimately it's up to you
And as with oils, many people report either great results with ACV, or bad results. I feel like it's hit or miss. That's basically why i keep the toner so simple, but experimenting is a great thing too. Just know that starting simple and working your way into something more complex is probably a smarter approach, as you will know which ingredient didn't react well with your skin
Hi guys, long-time reader, first time poster. I just never saw much reason to post and had little motivation to do so while my acne was going crazy.
Anyway for a period of 6 months I gave up alcohol, all types of meat and fish, dairy, grains anythign remotely bad, you name it - I gave it up. My diet was pretty much just water, quinoa, broc, carrots, courgettes, and tempe. Oh and fruit, but I gave that up in the last 2-3 weeks to see if cutting all sugar had an effect. And I also gave up smoking (woop! still have btw..). Anyway none of this crap worked, also did the whole lemon juice drinking, bit of water fasting for 6 days, drinking ACV, putting on ACV... lots of effort - very little return.
I digress. I just want to say thank you OFG. This toner was a godsend. I've completely given up on my strict diet because it pissed me off to no end. I eat 200g blueberries every morning because I love that stuff and have some veg with fish or meat in the evening for dinner, but otherwise my diet is high in ice-cream, butter, bread, cheese, and all sorts of junk food (just not McD because that shit truly is vile - only if drunk).
This toner has cleared me up about 95% and I've been using it about 2 weeks now, hopefully in the coming weeks it'll work even more - touch wood. The only things I'm doing in conjunction that may have an effect is about 60-90 mins jogging per day but I did that before anyway, and I've recently started doing IF but I didn't notice a change then either. The way I prepare it is just put a boat load of loose green tea leaves (bancha if interested) literally my mom went apeshit on me when she saw something like half a bag (not teabag but a bag) of leaves in the pot. Put about 500ml cold filtered water (some will undoubtedly evaporate) and then heated up it up slowly to 80c, let it sit at 80c for 10 (low fire) mins and then turned off the heat and let it soak in for another 45 mins while it cooled down. Put it in the fridge, let it cool some more, mix in 1/2 tsp himalayan sea salt as instructed and then I just press a 1/4 lemon (pH strips put the acidity at 3-4 on differing batches), and some 10-15 drops of tea tree. Works like a charm. I get about 300-400ml worth.
Thanks again. Literally, thank you. To be able to just do things again, it's liberating and the best part of it is that it is dirt cheap and literally you know exactly what you're putting on your face! My only worry is that leaving the lemon (albeit diluted) on my face during the day and having it exposed to sunlight... so far no problems, but I do rinse my face before going to the beach as I daren't sunbathe with it on.
Lastly, my manuka honey came in yesterday which I was going to use if this failed, but maybe don't need anymore. I'm tempted to mix in a tbsp into this concoction and see if it will enhance it, or maybe just do a weekly mask of some sorts, will haven't thought that bit through.
Thanks OFG!

So glad it worked for you man. Thanks for sharing this with us
And in regards to the honey, if you do decide to try adding any to the toner, it'd be best if you added it when the tea was warm. Not hot, but just warm. That way none of the beneficial enzymes from the honey are destroyed by the heating process. It might be better just to use the honey as an occasional mask, but it's up to you. Personally i'd give the basic toner a little longer before trying to add anything else, you know? That way you're 100% sure that it was what you added (honey) that made any negative or positive impact to the original toner's affect on your skin
If I put green tea on me and it gets on clothes it looks like piss on my clothes and it doesn't go away even if I was the clothes in the machine.
Any idea?
I've noticed it can stain too - luckily It's only been on towels that I don't care for anyway. I think the best suggestion is to just take care when applying it not to spill or drip it anywhere. Maybe apply it when wearing old clothes that it doesn't matter if they get stained?
I didn't put salt in it because I was too scared. It's just mint green tea.
Maybe you shouldn't have the green tea and BP on your skin at the same time. Perhaps you could alternate them. I guess it is also possible that the mint could be interacting negatively with the BP.
so should i add apple cider vinegar to this and how much? i stopped the one cleanser bc i think it was breaking me out. i was thinking of doing this and then an apple cider vinegar and sea salt mask at night. does this sound good?
Did you try using the diluted ACV as a cleanser, rinsing, then applying the green tea?
Just get a bowl big enough to dip a wash cloth into, fill with water and add a little vinegar. Dip your washcoth into it and pat your skin with the washcloth. Wring it out and repeat once or twice. You can hold the washcloth against your skin for 10 seconds or so. You may want to finish with a clean rinse. Then apply your tea.
Another method is to keep some ACV in an eyedropper or spray bottle. Wet your washcloth and spray some ACV on it using similar steps as above.
I'm sure there are other ways and you may even find a one that works best for you depending on whether you use it in the shower or over a sink.
The ratio of ACV to water should be around 1 part ACV to 8-10 parts water, or even more diluted to start.
He's using it as a cleanser. It also acts as an exfoliant because of the acid content.
As for exfoliants, I personally like ACV and/or yogurt.
Check out this link about exfoliation methods: http://www.dermalins...xfoliation.html
I just found out that you can purchase distilled water from the grocery store. Gallons for $0.99 each. I guess i've been living under a rock
Anyway, it's a great option to use in toners, or to wash your face with. Not to mention drinking water, which i am absolutely going to use this for. In case you haven't heard, fluoride is not good for your body. Nor are the other chemicals and metals found in most water supplies. There are multiple threads discussing this issue in the nutrition section, as well as numerous online articles

that seems like it would take too long. i dont have that long in the morning to do that.
Fuck this vinager stuff why not just use lemon juice to lower the PH?
And what do you guys do to exfoliate on this? I haven't exfoliated once since starting this but I think it's time.
I'd also like to know what other people are using to exfoliate. I had been using an AHA based exfoliant but it was part of a gift and I've found out it's super expensive so I don't think I'll be buying myself all the time! I've heard people mention baking soda as an exfoliant but whenever I've tried it It's been rather irritating.
If I remember correctly - this toner had been working really well for your skin right? How's it going for you know?

My 15 year old son wouldn't dream of doing this in the morning either. It would be done at night.

I pretty much don't get new pimples anymore, I'm just dealing with the red marks now. They seem to be slowly fading but I've had small gaps of a few days where I don't apply the toner for whatever reason or leave it out of the fridge and my diet is still pretty shit, though I'm going to change to a better one in the next couple days. So if I was more strict with applying the toner the red marks would probably be even more faded.
One of my problems though is that I'm really pale so even white tea leaves pigment which looks like a bad fake tan. Schools starts soon so I'm not sure what I will do in the morning, if anyone has ideas that would be great.

That's great that it's still working pretty well for you.
I was going to try the white tea myself because of the pigment of the green tea but it was more expensive so I'm sticking with the green. Seems like it wouldn't have made much difference though as I'm very pale too.
Because of the pigment, I usually only apply this toner at night because I have uni most days. This would probably work even better for me if I applied it twice every day. The only thing I can think of would be to somehow apply less of it? Not sure sorry.
Good luck with it - and let us know if you find a way to make it work.
it depends on how pale you really are - the white tea is definitely less pigmented than green tea.
I thought about applying it first thing in the morning and then leaving it on for an hour until I shower but I'm not sure if that would have any effect. I also run first thing in the morning so does anyone know if sweat and toner would be a bad combination?
onefatalgoose, is there anything you can recommend for mornings?
One thing I noticed that works just as well or dare I say better, is not picking.
A few weeks ago I posted here saying omg omg I'm pretty clear, fast-forward a few days from there I had a picking session on some tiny tubers and one the one pimple I had left, anyway the next week it was pretty obvious I had acne again (whiteheads, inflamed zits, etc), even though I continually used the green tea toner. The day after that picking session I told myself I wouldn't pick anymore, I cut my nails so short I can't even pick up a coin from the floorboard, and result is now I'm back at the same as when I first posted, got one small pimple on my forehead and otherwise it's a bit of residual redness from pimples past. So maybe I just didn't notice I wasn't picking the first leg before I posted this?
Anyway, I'm no expert but thought I would share my experience, I'm still using the toner anyway, will experiment not using it in a few weeks time if this keeps up to see if it was solely the act of not picking or a combination of both.
ManFeelings, something you can do for the morning is to not do anything. At night, do a thorough job of applying the toner and make sure you are using clean pillow cases every other day (since you can flip the pillow over for a clean side the following night) But yeah, as long as you shower at night, you really don't need to again in the morning. You can just get up and go
Or...
You can get some distilled water and make a toner with the same amount of sea salt, but with about 1/4 of the tea you usually use. Should be much less pigmented on your skin. So basically, you'd have a lighter version for the day, and a more concentrated version for the evenings
If I put green tea on me and it gets on clothes it looks like piss on my clothes and it doesn't go away even if I was the clothes in the machine.

Try white vinegar for tea stains. Start with diluted, then move to full strength if needed. I lean way over the sink when applying green tea or apply it in the nude!
