Hello!

To start off I have used accutane before when I wasnt about 16-17 for 6 months. Now my skincare routine is moisturizer +vitamin c in the morning and sunscreen. At night, I use 0.5% tret and moisturizer. I am taking fish oil supplements as well.

I recently got some cystic acne from creatine use and it made tons of boxcar scars (I think) on the left side of my face. I think I have a mixture of rolling and boxcar scars on my right side too.

With that being said, I was wondering what I should change or add to my routine as I read a lot about benzoyl peroxide and glycolic acid.

As for my scar treatment. I have done 1 round of microneedling and am scheduled to do 2 more, although I am not so sure about my dermatologists experience. I live in a small town so good derms are quite a bit away. I was wondering if I need to do some subcision.

Most important is to stop acne so you don't get more scarring. Yes, benzoyl peroxide and glycolic acid (after 1 month) work amazingly well. That's what The Regimen is based on. My suggestion would be to make sure you get your acne under complete control first and foremost.

Also, I tend to doubt creatine caused acne for you. That's unlikely. You should keep your mind open to other things that might have caused it.

You have lovely skin outside of the inflamed areas so I know this might sound like a cop out but people will mostly look at the whole context. That said some people swear by TCA cross. I don't know how that affects Asian skin though, and also TCA cross widened my scars but others have shown improvement. Might just be a gamble.

With Asian skin any ablative treatment has to be really investigated because of side effects to that color skin. Microneedling can't really hurt but I doubt it does anything for sharp/deep scars. I think if it works, it's probably for texture/superficial stuff. You don't have all sharp scars so maybe microneedling is worth a try. Some suggest PRP microneedling but idk maybe it's a gimmick and more expensive, lol.

I never benefited from a routine of like moisturizer, but eating healthy really does help imo, I take all kinds of supplements.

As Dan said, get the acne/marks under control, then explore treatments for Asian skin ranging from TCA cross, maybe scar revision, or ablative lasers. Again with Asian skin it's trickier. Side effects are more common. Please test an area first no matter what you do. Worst case if it worsens, it's one spot.
