Hi I deeply regret getting punch excision. I got 7 scars removed and the majority seem to be healing pretty well and 1 has even completely disappeared after 4 months. Ive been applying silicone spf every day and during the night Ive been applying this scar gel I actually saw recommendations on here for called contractubex not sure if I spelled that wrong or not. I know either way Id like to get a full ablative laser but there is 1 scar that really concerns me and it looks like its only getting worse. It looks like it has split when they took the stitching out. Im not sure what to do I regret ever going through with this procedure it looks significantly worse than the scar ever did in the first place. Any advice would be very helpful. Ive even reached out to people on Reddit and a user has recommended a procedure for me as they have been in the same boat and I looked into it and it seems promising.

That's interesting that most of them worked great except for one. I wonder what happened with that one. Have you spoken to the doctor who did it? I would start there.

@dan I got these done at a plastic surgeons office and what kind of scared me was that it seemed like they were sort of training on me because there was a girl there my age who did aid in the 7 scars that I got removed. A week later, upon removing the stitching the assistant mentioned that she was gonna check to see if the stitching on that one opened up and she never checked for it. Im afraid of repeating the process on that one because Ive heard horror stories about the scar getting even wider after the second round of punch excision. I have set up a consultation at advanced laser aesthetics for December 7th Im going to talk to them and see what they recommend. Regardless I know Id like to get fully ablative laser done .

I actually love hearing how much of an advocate you're being for yourself at this point. This is what everyone needs to do with scar repair. You have to be really on top of things and make sure you are under the care of someone super experienced and with a great track record. It sounds like you're making sure you're doing that moving forward, and that's more than half the battle.

@dan I just hope I make the right choices. Like I said before any advice is incredibly helpful since Im very insecure about these scars even more than I ever was in the first place-before the punch excision procedure-it affects me to the point where i refuse to go places.

Take a deep breath. We notice things more about ourselves than other people notice about us.

And proceed carefully moving forward as your own advocate, which you now know you have to do, and that's great. Stay on top of it!
