Just had the phenol peel done in the past week. Overall, it's not that bad except for the first 3 days (skin constantly on fire). Now it comes to the question for aftercares. In Dr. Rullan's post procedure guide, it says the less facial movement the better the result (layer down new collagen). I've kept my mouse shut up all the time and been drinking Soylent for living in the past week. I am getting close to get the mask removed, so I am wondering when you folks, those who did phenol peel started to eat normal food after that? I am still planing to move my face muscle as little as possible even after the mask is removed, but definitely want to quit Soylent soon. I will probably eat food without chewing. Also, I saw from an old post that BA said using retin-A after the phenol can achieve a better result. When should I start doing that?

Heh, I think we must have done it around the same time. I heard there were 3 other full face phenols being done on my day 1 (which was last Monday). I'm getting the rest of the mask removed today and getting an oxygen facial....in about an hour. Edit - For clarifcation, I am on Day 9
Honestly, I healed extremely quickly from the procedure... which shocked me after seeing some of these threads. I wonder if it's because i've done so much laser in the past? Dr. Rullan also advised me to not reapply the bismuth powder when it got dry or cracked but to water spray and apply aquaphor. Maybe because he knew I was keen to get an oxygen facial today AND i'm flying back out tomorrow to Canada.
So honestly...most of my mask has even fallen off (majority began falling off yesterday which was my day 7 but even beginning day 5...). lol. I'm already thinking about doing another one. Please tell me you're going to post a thread for the community/me about your experience with pics (or let's DM)? Either way, I plan to post a thread about my expeirence. I've been taking photos on a daily basis. I've had soups (which Dr.Rullan has okayed) and smoothies. I'm pretty sure you can eat whatever you like after the mask comes off.
May I also know your age (ish?) and skin type and scar type? just curious

I healed quickly as well. I only hate the first 3 days. After that, it's mostly just like an aggressive laser resurfacing. Actually, if I remember correctly, the more frequently you clean the debris the more quickly you heal. I've done a lot of laser/Genius + all kinds of treatment before. And I am very used to TCA (I can do at home 30% and peel off ~ 3 days). I've been back home at day 5. Btw, how's oxygen facial going? I probably won't do that but instead use skin cares to let the redness fade away.
Overall, the experience isn't as bad as I thought. Pretty much the similar to an aggressive laser resurfacing. The redness doesn't look that bad, at least not as red as a tomato. I look similar to how the pictures in @f 93 d's post look like. A little redder after shower. It might be due to the fact that I am used to seeing my skin a little red as I've been using 0.1% tretinoin for years lol?
A second phenol peel? Well, it feels good and the 3-day experience is not the end of the world. But it still takes a while to completely get rid of the redness. I am planing to stay at home for the entire next 2 months at least, not even consider going out for a single minute at the day time. So I guess I won't do the second one any time within a year. But I'd really like to see the end result of this one first. I trust this procedure and (only) Dr. Rullan. Btw, one big thing I learned in the past years is DON'T DO ERBIUM FRACTIONAL. At least don't do it without combining with CO2 (many doctors combine them together). Erbium is a cold laser, it only drill holes on your skin without shrinking. Your skin probably won't be able to close up the holes even after a long time. The more aggressive you do Erbium, the worse skin you will get.

ooO interesting. Are you able to see any of your scars yet or still too swollen? I'm not looking forward to seeing them emerge lol

I can see all of my scars. Nothing has changed so far. Btw, I have diffused shallow ice picks. Overall it's like orange peel skin, but with some places having slightly larger scars.
Hi,
I am interested in following your treatment with Dr. Rullan (the deep phenol peel) and wanted to ask if you have a thread that I can read? I am planning on getting the peel myself, had a consultation already, but havent scheduled a concrete appointment with the office of Dr. Rullan yet.
How is the recovery process coming along for you? Has the redness faded away more or less, or is it still easily detectable?

Just go get it. I am patient enough to stay inside for a year to let redness fade away. I am not worrying about hypopigmentation or anything. 100% trust with Dr. Rullan.
