I am a new member here. I have severe acne scars on my cheeks and temple area. I would like to know which scar treatment is good for me? Any tips / recommendations are appreciated. Here are some pics of my scarring.

I'm guessing TCA plus laser might do the trick. Maybe a little subcision and maybe even a few punches here and there. But you'll need to work with a doc for an exact plan.

Most important is to get in the hands of a good derm or plastic surgeon who specializes in scar treatment. Get a few opinions and go with your gut.

Thank you for the reply. I guess my scarring severity would be about 6/10? Do you know which type of acne scars do I have? I think i got mostly boxcar and icepick scars and fractional CO2 laser, subcision + filler and TCA Cross suit my case. Am i right?

I think 6/10 is fair.

Looks like boxcar and rolling mostly, yeah, but some icepick too. TCA can help with smaller boxcars and icepicks and then laser can help with rolling. Why fractional? If it were me, I'd look into ablative, but fractional can help too. And yeah, filler can help, but I personally like the idea of doing other stuff before filler. Something weirds me out about filler. But that's just me.

You should do subcision + filler (or subcision + suction). Multiple times, spaced 3 months apart. TCA is for texture and won't really improve those little craters, which look bad under overhead lightening. TCA/PEELS/LASER only after these are more leveled with the surrounding skin imo.

Haven't updated for a while. Trying to replicate the angle and lighting. I've done
1 fraxel laser treatment - i think there is no improvement for the scarring.
1 subcision + filler (Rejuran Scar) & 1 fractional CO2 laser - It helps. Maybe 5 to 10% improvement.

I have done my scar treatment in April. Trying to replicate the angle and lighting. Here's the result. So far,

1/12 - fraxel laser treatment - no improvement for the scarring.

2/10 - 1 subcision + filler (Rejuran Scar) & 1 fractional CO2 laser - 5 to 10% improvement.

4/15 - 1 subcision + filler (Rejuran Scar) & 1 fractional CO2 laser - 5 to 10% improvement. Skin tone is brighter and the texture is smoother.

Hi, was Rejuran S also used for your temple scars? Also, may I know clinic and the doctor who performed the treatment? Thank you.

@templescars Yes. Rejuran S was used for my scars. For me, the result is acceptable. The scars on my temple are less noticeable. It is worth a try i think.

I see. I am hoping to do the same for my temple scars. May I know which doc and clinic you went to? Dropped you a pm in case you dont want to disclose here.

You're looking better! For the temple area, what worked really well for me was bellafill and CO2 laser.

@wwcj yes, I wasted time doing a bunch of microneedling sessions and fraxel but then went to Dr. Qazi in Orange County who I definitely recommend. He told me the best for my atrophic scarring in the temples would be subcision, bellafill and CO2 laser and it definitely improved a lot. Really happy with them finally. At some point i will show and share on a post here since I did my full face and it was well worth it.

@whatabardCan I ask you how much did you pay for subcision, bellafill and CO2 laser? I heard bellafill works pretty well and stays many years. I'm looking for a good and efficient doctor in Orange County. I'm having many box-scarring on my cheeks. Thanks in advance!
