How many weeks did you need after dermabrasion before you could go to work?
Oh it depends if you are comfortable going to work looking like a tomato or a geisha lol I didnt work around 6 -8 months I think, thats just me bec I wanted time off from work anyway but youll be able to go back to work comfortablybut looking weird in a month. easier to pull off if you are a female I would think it will harder for a male
recovery meaning looking normal again maybe around 10 months to a year the scab will be all gone I believe around 10-14 days but youll be red for another 1-2 monthsthen your face will be white that turns tomato red for even the littlest of thingslike heat, laughing , exertion, and your face will be noticeably lighter than the rest of you, prone to hyperpigmentationbut face will benoticeably smoother . ofcourse youll still have your scar but blended and less noticeable 35-40% better each time, just my guesstimate but of course it is highly dependent on the skills and experience of your doctor.
Dr weiner has a video explaining why subcision w/ filler is a myth, academic papers also highlight that subcision works but the rate of reattachment is very high, both of these things have reflected my experience. Having done a bit of research subcision followed by suction seems to be the only legitimate way to see progress from subs. To quote one success story subcision is useless without suction The key is finding a doc that will be thorough with your subcision to get the most out of the protocol.

I thought Weiner also said in his video that retethering isn't a significant/common issue? Do you believe him, or the papers you've read saying that the rate of reattachment is high?

Ill bump a post showing an unsuccesful story with suction after subcision

Definitely the papers. I think even the smartest guys in the room are wrong about some things. He also says you dont need more than 3 subs but as long as this board has been around people have been getting upwards of 6. The initial paper on subcision said 6-10 and when docs started moving to cannula it went down to 3-5. This seems to track with some people saying he doesnt do a thorough subcision. Hes essentially an rfm guy, I like that he does subs before energy I think thats innovative but my own personal experience subbing without suction and the papers that look at sub and suction mention reattachment as real

Please do but Im willing to bet that has more to do with a doctor not doing a thorough subcision. I just went through one myself, not all subcisions are created equally, and then introduce the variables of whether someone is consistently suctioning etc. At the end of the day subcision is a pretty new procedure and it seems the vast majority of multiple subs and less than satisfactory results have been indicative of the fact that even if you sever those tethers some/most will reattach. If filler spacer is a myth as weiner showed with ultrasound then suction is kind of our only option to intervene in that reattachment phase. In trials that are somewhat controlled the results have been clear, suction after subcision works better than sub on its own.

Who do you think does a thorough sub?

Rullan does IMO and I can vouch for that, he does this tumescent thing that allows him to see tethers and according to his 2020 paper on his trio he goes just under the skin and also into the fat dermis junction. Im sure there have to be others that are as thorough, it would be nice to get a list going of good doctors because I think the old list might have featured people that used to be good but then realized there was more money in energy devices, hair loss, and being Instagram influencers instead of actual scientifically driven medical professionals. All I know is I just had one by another 1% from here and didnt even hear popping where having had it done by rullan my ears were ringing from the popping.

Did yours look worse after rullan? Mine did.

I dont because when I went to him I was mostly worried about one side of my face that had deeper scars but he did full face subcision and the side I didnt think was that bad got worse and the right side also got deeper because I had a Reaction to the filler

Mine look better I *think*, never did a great job of taking photos but as reported by others in my life, some unsolicited, I do look better than when I started. My subs were combined with CROSS, laser, and sculptra, hard to tease out what did what.
Going to try juvederm volume before dermabrasion

Hm that's good to hear I really hope it's permanent. Not sure why some get worse results and others get good results. Is it the filler, type of scar, doctor's ability? All 3?

I forgot which user, but they said they got 3 or 4 sculptras before they saw good results. And it's expensive so...
My dermatologist says she does lots of sculptra.
One doc said that juvederm need to be injected superficially on my scars. Is that true?
9 hours ago, Acnescarssuck123 said:What about visiting rullan do you think made the scars worse ?
I took photos but it wasnt in identical lighting so it's hard to tell. It definitely look worst.
But after seeing seeing another user posting his subs result getting worse before they got better...maybe it normal.
It's been 10 months after my last treatment and I'm seeing a difference now.
Just got juvederm voluma done. It was about 40 mins of just injecting droplets, the doc took his time.
We'll see how this goes.

Totally correct, took me 2 months of red, another 10 months of various levels of pink. I was young and skipped a year of college basically to do it. Didn't want to go out much. Scab falls off in 14-16 days but it's one heck of a scab. CANNOT pick it at all never, treat it like it's very sacred. If someone doesn't mind pink skin like a pink sunburn then you could probably go out in a month, two, three I guess, I personally wouldn't hold it against anyone if I worked with them. By month 7-10 your skin really starts to look almost normal, like just pink tinge. A year out you're totally normal. I think we both got ablative dermabrasion judging by the timeframes and that's probably the most successfuly reason. Doctors now seem to think dermabrasion fades in a month or two, suggesting there's "ablative" and "sort of weak" I guess.
I remember when I was 22 I went to this really old but monk vibing Chinese dermatologist after the dermabrasion still unhappy that "some" scars were left even with significant progress, and I remember his words back then long ago "most people have to do several dermabrasions". To this day I have no clue if that would help or hurt but I remember it and he took $100 for the visit lol.
I was scared to do another because I wanted to keep the progress but I still wonder if I did 2 would I be almost flawless or would it have reversed some. No clue. The craziest thing about this is that I talked to 2-3 that still do dermabrasion and none wanted to citing different reasons. I still don't really know why since back then I could've done another so who knows. Maybe doctors are weird now. Their attitudes now are like "no you're expectations are out of whack" and back then they were like "yes you could do more most people do 2 or 3". lol
It's been two weeks since my juvederm voluma. It's help with the deepness of the scars, but not the edges. Am I ready for dermabrasion or should I get a Taylor or b sub first?
