@MikyMor no filler has been used :) my doc only ever mentioned combining subcision and dermapen. I would have done fillers by now if i was done with my subcision but because i still want a few more subcisions i cant have fillers done as the subcision needle needs to be able to break up tethering beneath the skin and if the filler is sitting underneath the skin too i don't think that would work very well!

My doctor believes the opposite since, in theory, the filler would last for months and prevent the scars from reappearing after the bruising has gone down.

@Albaneso @QuanHenry thank you thats very kind. I believe it is helping somewhat, but i need to do more :) im getting around to it.. slower than id like but still :)

Yes ive thought about filler but not until im finished with subcision. I wont be able to continue with subcision if i get filler. Have you had a personal experience with fillers? Man, 100% improvement.. a girl can only dream!

Just so you know, fillers like Restylane are temporary, and there is speculation that it can help with the collagen remodeling process. There are people on this thread who  have combined Restylane with subcision and have been happy with their results. I haven't done it due to $$$.

@Starlite thanks i am definitely aware. I just want to get all my subcisions done first :) plus the retinol cream im using giving me some improvement i think! I want to get prescribed retin a though for (hopefully) more noticeable results :) it definitely helps make everything somewhat 'smoother'

Ps - i am wanting to use fillers as a very last 'icing on the cake' type method :) we'll see though!

I thought i might add, also, that when i went to the chemist earlier today the pharmacist (who always serves me) said 'things are looking a lot better than last time you were here'

so there must be noticeable improvement in person even if the photos show minimal :)

Thanks guys! Had to postpone my subcision due to $$ but will be booking in once i start my work-from-home and doing the tca peel the day of the subcision so i will keep everyone posted.

Its scary thinking about peeling when you're starting to get happier with your skin! I think the peel will help more so with my right side as the left side has wider scarring - will probably need filler for the left side im thinking?!

@Albaneso - Paulaschoice 1% retinol - have a look on the website. Not as strong as retin a but a good start before getting prescribed the retin a. I find it is helping :)

After being on dr david lim's website i really want to fly over to brisbane for subcision/filler as his results look great. Problem is, the nurses who triage all the emails are saying the dr wont know anything until im face to face with him to have the consultation.. which means i have no idea what he'll want to perform, how much money to save, how long ill need to book accommodation, what dates ill need to book flights etc.. so difficult :( brisbane isnt cheap either!!!

You could always Fly there have your into appt, ask if they will make a follow up appt for the same week as you are flying in. Possibly do a peel if Dr. Lim will not treat. Be prepared that Dr. Lim specializes in lasers. As such I do not know if he will agree tosubcision only. You could do a peel with the nurses same day that you have your intro appt maybe.

I spoke with a nurse who said they wont do same day consult and procedure for scarring.. which sucks. Oh really? Im not interested in lasers one bit.. he has before and after pics with just subcision and fillers so i was hoping i could go down that road too.

last night i was reading up on him and he actually has so SO many bad reviews from 2012/2013/2014.. i wonder what changed since then? Patients found him rude and arrogant and spoke to them like they were idiots.. rushed consultations and not listening to the patient etc.. i would be soooo mad if i spent a bunch of money to see him only for him to be all hype !

I heard that only consultation cost like 275 aus dollars which is insane. And ofcourse he will show impressive pics on his website. That is just marketing. Even his informative videos on youtube are marketing. He can give advise on that, but basically, it is worthless. Scars needs to be seen before planning any treatment.

So yeah, Davin Lim is for me an overhyped doctor who is very smart.

Dr. Lim is smart and at the forefront of the energy device field / acne scar field. But remember the tops doctors get devices and flashy new things so they can do speaking engagements/ conferences and research funds. Almost like a celebrity. Energy devices are a gamble remember so there is bound to be some bad responses to them and they are concerned about the research. I also believe these doctors gain experience on patients. They may not have time for good bedside manner. He does not do basic procedures often doing multiple lasers and things at once. Subcision and filler may be part of laser procedures, it's a combo meal. While we can learn a lot from "thematerials" they often get information before it's released to the public and pushed as treatments, it's always good to side on the cautious side. You can get subcision and filler around you. Call several dermatologists and ask. It takes homework. I would imagine there would be more options in SYD (Adrian Lim Urepublic). I would avoid filler and subcision on the same day as there is swelling and often hard to fill the right amount, some have to do it because they fly into a place. You can get filler anywhere around you... med spa, dr, nurses inject all day long and are often better than Drs. So you may split up your treatments with subcision and find someone local for filler. I really don't think it's worth flying for sub, but some people do it as it's hard to find someone. Plastic surgeons do this type of thing with their surgery's they may not call it "sub."" I don't see you need filler in your recent pics your looking really good with the retin a. I do think a peel or two would help you and can be done at any med spa, or at home. Please read Sydboi recent post.,there may be information we may not know from the experience like filler in the face during energy devices.

Hi guys :) having my fourth subcision today. I wont be getting dermapen as i have a work event saturday and im not sure about the downtime. But i will be suctioning and seeing if that makes any difference :) ive been doing some 30% glycolic peels at home to prep for when i finally have the downtime to go ahead with the tca peel and avoiding the use of the retinol when my skin is dry from the peels. I wait until my skin returns to normal then start using it again. I might enquire with my doc about prescribing me retin-a and see what she thinks. Wish me luck! :)

So folks, i told my doc i have an event on saturday and she did the dermapen anyway!! She did minimal subcision  (which im super mad about)!! And then went over my whole face (minus nose and forehead) with the dermapen on max. I didnt like the feeling at all. Felt like needles being dragged through my skin!! Rather than going in and out. In recovery now. Have a gander lol.

Did it hurt? I use the derminator which doesn't seem to even slightly sting or make me red which is confusing when I see people having dermapen sessions looking red.

I can't believe that even with that net on you still look beautiful lol! Fingers crossed for you I really hope your pleased with your results when you have healed :)
