Hi, I am currently looking for acne scar treatment in nyc and wanted to know how treatments with dr nelson lee novick went. Everybody says he has a good personality and everything but he doesnt show before and after pics and most people who went to him dont post updates. I want to know if his treatments really did work. Any other acne scar specialist suggestions in nyc would be appreciated as well.

i went to see him a little over a year ago and he was very knowledgeable. he spoke with me for a good 45 minutes about my hypertrophic scarring and ended up doing kenalog injections on my raised bumps. the bumps got flatter but not totally flat. i would love to see him again for more injections and then eventually doing needling but its too hard for me to get back to nyc. one thing i like him about him is that he isnt into laser at all and will be very honest with you on what might work and what wont work. you can email him pictures of your face and he will write you back very quickly on what he might be able to do for you. i saw about 10 different docs and derms and he was the only one that was able to tell me exactly what type of scarring I had. good luck!

Hi, I was just on here looking for reviews on Dr. Novick. I just went to see him for mild/moderate acne scarring on my cheeks and left temple. I also have a new, deep scar on my forehead from acne. I thought he was going to do subcision and microneedling but he ended up doing something different. He said he couldn't touch the scar on my forehead because it was still infected and inflamed. So he injected it with steroid. He then used fillers in the scars on my cheeks and temples. I am happy so far with the results. My scars are less deep, but still present (I've had on Infini treatment before at another location and that did also improve the scars a bit). In certain reflections where they looked really bad, like in the car window, I see they look less bad. The fillers last 1-2 years. I am seeing him in January to do subcision on the forehead scar and some of the more persistent ones on my cheeks. I know it is a process and I may have to go back for more subcisions and I eventually also want to do more microneedling or Infini (although Dr. Novick doesn't do the Infini -- I'd go somewhere more locally).

@mariemomthanks for the reply, I hope your treatment goes well with him. I am considering going either him or Dr. Ron Shelton(heard he's well-known for nationwide dermatologist) but his consultation alone is 450. May I ask how much was the consultation fee for Dr. Novick and how much he's planning to charge for the treatments? I would also love hearing further improvement in treatment from him so please do update me on your condition! Thanks in advance!

@tracy521 I am glad to hear the positive results from your treatment with him. I have a few boxcar scars, icepick and 1 rolling scar on my temple which I am hoping to improve and is really on the verge of checking him out because Dr. Ron is pretty expensive.

yeah i liked that he didn't charge a consult fee so for him to inject my 3 hypertrophic scars it cost me $350. if i do get back to see him i want him to work on my indented scars as well.

I'm probably going to use him for subcision and possibly TCA cross next spring. He has a great resume and has been doing subcision since 1994. I haven't heard anything bad about him.

Does anyone else have experience with Dr Nelson or other doctors in NYC for scar revision?

I saw Dr Shelton. He's very nice and knowledgeable. The consult fee goes towards the treatment so its not too bad really.

I went to see Dr. Novick in late Dec for ice pick acne scars, he was very knowledgable and explained the different treatments. After the consultation, he treated couple of my scars with TCA cross and RF needling as test to see which method works for me. I am going to back to see him in mid-Feb for follow up. Currently, I am a bit disappointed as it's been 2.5 weeks and I still haven't seem significant improvements in the spots he treated. Does anyone know when I should start to see improvements with either TCA cross or RF needling?
