I can't believe that even with that net on you still look beautiful lol! Fingers crossed for you I really hope your pleased with your results when you have healed

Thats very sweet of you babe !! Ohh i would be shocked if i wasnt red after the way it felt! It wasnt like UNBEARABLE it was just really uncomfortable.. and i had numbing cream and local anesthesia.. it just felt.. vicious? I think thats the word lol. Doc reckons i dont need any more subcision and maybe 3 to 4 more dermapens. I spoke with her about the tca peel and she said its also an option. Just gotta wait the 6 weeks now and see if its going to be worth doing again

Oh ouch lol. Well they say no pain no gain haha! I hope you are pleased with the results. Look forward to hearing your update:)
Day 1 - these pics dont really do the redness justice. Im still quite red (not like yesterday) and it feels almost like, scabby i think? Very dry and crusty in some areas. I wasnt prepared to have this procedure done so i havent been using serums or anything as all i have is my sunscreen and moisturiser which is all ill be using for the next 1 to 2 weeks (besides my makeup which the doc gave the ok to start applying starting today)
also in the pics on the left side theres 2 places that look like i have active acne as they are darker. I dont, so im not sure why these places are darker than the other areas? Kept ice on lastnight and this morning. I wont be suctioning as i dont think it would be suitable with the dermapen procedure?
Looks good, you look much better than your initial post fyi!!! No don't suction, ... just for subcision. Redness is because your fair skinned, should clear in about a week. You can try antihistamine if your wish, ice, and your paulas choice retinoid in a few days. Keep up the the good work, your definitely a scar treatment success.
You can spot treat the acne if you get a pimple.

Thank you! Im not concerned about the redness at the moment, more so the 'lesion' type spots? Theyre not pimples, they're very odd.. just raised skin? Not painful or anything. I can handle redness (i actually like it when i put makeup on it makes my skin look healthier haha) but these lesions make me look like im dealing with acne again... annoying! They'll probably go away soon i have a work event tomorrow though which is why i didnt want this procedure yet.. but bloody hell, my doc is persistent!! Havent used anything but moisturiser just fyi - wish i was more prepared for this treatment.
side note: make up goes on sooo well with the swelling at the moment haha, gunna miss it in a day or 2 when it all goes back to normal!
Day 3 is pinkish, like a sunburn that's wearing off. Dry & flaky!
@91babyI wont say much but going through your posts seemed as if my heart is speaking. Image of me in mob screen, car shadows, morning false hopes for scars, social isolation omg the same is with me (although i have much deeper acarring). I have done 5 co2 lasers and 2 dermarollers (with no improvement acc to me) and got my first subcision a day before. Lets hope for the best.
check out vedios of [removed] on youtube, may be those help, she Is a hope. Good luck.
@Alia khan im sorry to hear that lasers arent cheap either! All my treatments have been relatively cheap so im lucky in that aspect. Subcision will help where it can but only to a certain degree. Ive had subcision treatments as well as one dermapen treatment. Im tossing up whether to continue with dermapen or try the tca peel. My doc said she would perform the peel but the downtime will be a lot different than with sub and dermapen. As i work from home now it shouldn't matter as much. Im still hoping and praying for smooth skin so i can enjoy the rest of my 20s to the fullest. X
@Albaneso oh thanks that's nice of you to say different lighting and different angles show different things thats for sure. Im still not where id like to be, im trying to hang in there and stay positive. Comments like yours help, so thanks! X
these pics are with makeup - each day im leaning more and more towards wanting filler for an 'instant improvement' kind of look.. but i know that will halt anymore subcision treatments.. gahhh! Does anyone on here think i would benefit from any more subcision treatments?! Or should i just start moving forward with other treatments?!
I don't see tethering, time to do subcision and filler together. Then when your filler wears out you do your next subcision. It makes a pocket for the filler, and no it will not stop your body from healing, whoever said that is silly, it actually helps.
Also time time to start the peels. Your skin mainly has surface texture issues now, it will take many tca peels.

I've had 3 subcision treatments. Aug 2016/Jan2017/June 2017. I think i'm ready to move on. I've considered fillers because i dont think subcision truly yielded the results i desired. Improvements yes but not where i thought i would be. Still an option but i feel i'm ready to move on. Fillers or Fully ablative CO2 laser for me.
@beautifulambition hello again! When i emailed my doc about subcision and filler she said she wont do it in the same go as the subcision causes my face to swell and therefore making it harder to be precise with the filler? Should i push her or just find someone else? Im really comfortable with my current doc, i would hate to have to go elsewhere so tca peels will be fine with filler under my skin? So i should book in for filler and then wait how long after that to do a peel? @ChildhoodDreams - im not good with percentages but theres definitely been improvement in the depth of the scars and all over texture.. not enough to be satisfied though. Mind you, ive only had 3 subcisions and one dermapen treatment. And i didnt use the suction method with my subcisions.@mr.wantsgreatskin yes, youre right. I think subcision does a lot of the work under the surface, but the top of the surface doesnt change much. Fillers will be my next step
with tca peels!
Go with your doctors recommendations, do subcisions and a few days latter fill without swelling. I would tell her your ready to fill now.
I would start on peels after your filler is done. You can go back and subcise if and when your ready to top up latter. I don't know her feeling on peels and filler, she treats you but for me it's fine to do this. I do it to myself. Peel A month or two after filler.
Or if she thinks it's better peel a few times and then fill, that's also a option. Consult her. I would stop with subcisions alone.
@beautifulambition- im going to purchase a tca peel 12.5% and do it myself and see how my skin takes it. If all goes well i will layer it to 25% and then speak to my doc about fillers when i have the money. Do you suggest using anything (preferably australian) in the peeling/healing stage? Or is the skin best left bare in this phase? And can you wash your face after using the peel? I feel strongly that tca will be good for my skin texture after reading reviews. Also, would you know if its safe to use under the eye area? Thanks in advance for any advice!
I would buy a stronger peel and water it down to your 12.5%. 12.5% won't do that much for scar remodeling. We start there to see how you heal and then progressively bump up the percentage higher and higher. Layering does not make 25%, people are mistaken. When you layer yes it's a bit stronger but does not reach double the percentage. It must truly be a higher percentage.
Australian haha I wish I lived there, lovely country and people. I can tell you foreign stuff to buy online but not many AUS products. After peels and laser I use biafine personally, but Aquaphor is also great to keep things moist. Some use vaseline, but others can't handle this. I forget your big brand there sold at the chemist / drugstore. You bascially want something that you would use post laser resurfacing (which also has down time). Ask the chemist. You want to keep the skin moist and put a towel on the pillow as you heal. You'll be reapplying a few time a day. To clean the skin you dilute white vinegar and pat the skin (do not rub!) and reapply. No washes, scrubs, exfoliants, no picking or pulling, let it fall off naturally. If you shower splash on the face, do not let it stream on your face.
Under eyes you must be very careful, some skin there is thin, it's delicate, do not double up here, I frankly never double up and instead do higher percentages with one pass. If your scared about the eyes, dilute some acid weaker for this area, 12.5% should not be a issue, but higher could. Remember you can test spot a tiny area by the ear and even do higher than 12.5% to start with if your test patches are ok / heal well.
@beautifulambition i honestly thought layering would mean double the percentage?? Weird! Can you suggest a good percentage to purchase please?? The reason i didn't want to get a higer percentage is because i dont understand how to dilute it haha! And i have read some horror stories about people burning themselves eeek!
so keeping the face moist is the goal, great, i will do some research on aquaphor (never seen it in our chemists) but ill try and find a substitute thanks for the info!
@91babyI know it's a bit strange. It's chemistry stuff. PH changes and all that. Once the TCA has done it's work on the tissue it changes the environment and uptake a bit.
Get whatever you can 25, 30, 40 , 50% TCA. Dillusion is so easy, half of whatever with water is half the strength. Eg. 50/2 = 25%, 20% is where things really start working. We start low for our test spot to see how we heal. It can be a tiny test spot by the ear the size of a coin or less. you could even bump it up to 15% on another test spot and if that heals ok do your cheeks with that percentage. IT's about how you heal. your body will get used to stronger percentages with time. Read the FAQ - top of the acne scar sub, first post, then tca peels, and all things peels - there is a link there. I know the post is huge but there is a great experience by a member of how he peels and the real process. Your using your retin a which is good right as a prep to peel.
Prof Greg Goodman is not far from Adelaide, he was at one stage one of the World leaders in acne scarring. I know that in you case he would use a fine needle to subscise the scars on your cheeks, and use a fine HA filler. Will get better improvement. Goodman is in Melbourne, so flight is only ? 1.5 hours away? Look him up with his publications - over 50 of them on acne scar revision. He taught most of the Australian dermatologists scar revision. Just a suggestion. You have received good gains, but I think you can get better improvement, just be wary he's somewhat brash, and expensive, but he does deliver results. Im not advocating him, but giving you another option.

thank you for your suggestion but going interstate would be really difficult at this point - melbourne is not far at all from adelaide that is correct but i would still need to pay for flights and accommodation ontop of the consult and procedure. And then continue to go to and from in the future. I have high hopes for my tca peeling to show further improvements and then i will be looking into filler as a combination procedure with the peels. I think this will be the easiest and most cost effective way for now
thanks again!
2 hours ago, Sam said:91baby,sorry if you have mentioned this in your posts. Why didn't you suction after doing subcision.
I wouldn't recommend doing subcision on it own.
I was just too scared i think because i was already so swollen. I think subcision alone does help. Just not to extent you would probably get with suctioning or combining another treatment
I just ordered off make up artists choice 2 30% sample bottles. That plus the shipping was $90 AUD.. !!!! But australia doesnt seem to supply it? I couldn't find a single website. Boooo. Oh well. I should get it within the next 2 weeks and then ill do my test patch. If anyone could help me with diluting that would be great? (Will probably take the advice and do 15% for my first peel) They're tiny sample bottles, im not sure how to mix with water??
