I swear to god, just reading the first page of this topic is driving me insane. You have a perfectly healthy body, but just with some acne and acne scars?! Yet you complain?! It's normal to feel depressed about it. I don't blame my dad for my bad skin, I love my dad and I'm so thankful that he worked his ass off to support our family. Don't blame your mom eagerminer. Just dont.

Asshole.

@scarcrash - i use to feel like you. i was trapped into that hell you speak of. i felt completely hopeless. my scars had a very firm grip on my life and my mental well being. i started to get suicidle thoughts in my head because of the mental stress i was going through. i felt like a lost soul amongst all the others. i was going through a terrible nightmare for years. thats why my username is no hope because thats how i felt for a very long time. ive tried laser, microderm, peels, which made my scars worse.all though i was really hopeless i had a tiny bit of faith that kept me strong. deep down inside i would tell myself one day there will be something out there that can and will fix my facial deformity. now the good news!

i highly recommend you do a series of enerjet treatments. it is a method that combines subcision and filler for collage reproduction, i have very deep boxcars and some icepicks which are extremely hard to improve . let me tell you how enerjet has actually made a WORLD of difference in just 2 treatments! its a series of 3 but if your scars are severe you made need more. this method is brand new on the market. it's not out in the states so you would have to get it done in canada or the UK. its nothing like those other methods that are completely bullshit like lasers, dermabrassion, extc... check out the thread so you can inform yourself on it. if it gave me hope i definitely know it can give you hope too.

I went from almost loosing my sanity due to my facial scarring to gaining my confidence back and feeling free from this hell i was once living in. for those who are mentally stable i dont think a shrink or psychiatrist is necessary . i battled my own demons by myself through self motivation and discipline, if did it im sure as hell many others can too. good luck and remember there is HOPE you just haven't found it yet.

Scar sufferers have been saying this to themselves for hundreds of years...and the cure has always been just around the corner. Sometimes hope is just an insidious form of delusion...especially if it prevents the seeking of help in other areas because the "cure" will soon be here to take care of it.

it is a method that combines subcision and filler for collage reproduction

sunscision did nothing for me. Fillers are temporary, unless you want to live with silicone in your face and risk it getting lumpy over time.

Unfortunately, I would bet anything that your scarring will return to its original state eventually. Scarring has a strange tendency of resurfacing, sometimes years after treatments. Even people that have had wonderful results with lasers and believed that they had permanent results learned the hard way that there is no such thing. Their scars returned. An honest plastic surgeon will tell you that all scar treatments, save permanent fillers, only offer temporary improvement.

Work on your emotional response to your scarring. That is your best bet.

Lol, you are hurting everyone here by saying this but I still think there is truth to what you say. You lose nothing by trying though and that's what I suggest everyone here does.

My intention is to help, not hurt. Seek help for the emotional impact of the scarring.

You will lose something if you convince yourself that you cannot live without normal looking skin and invest all of your hope in treatments, because if they fail, then what will you do. You won't be able to live.

who said anything about silicone? if you got that done i can understand more why your living a sour life. thats the thing you did subcision alone without any thing else. its the combination that makes a big difference. enerjet has proven to leave permanent improvement behind. all the methods you have done are oldschool. i think you should lean to innovation because enerjet is a innovative treatment itself. this method is brand new so you cant say '' plenty of members alrdy stated it doesnt work blah blah blah blah''.

*PS* ill leave the working to you since i dont stress over my scars any more ; )

I mentioned silicone because it is a permanent filler. Other fillers are not permanent. No, I have not had any silicone filling done.

Please post a link to the clinical study that proves that the results are permanent. Long-term results can only be measured after a correspondingly long duration of time, yet you stated that "this method is brand new". Thus, no one has any long term experience with their results from enerjet treatments. I would see a red flag if my doctor told me that a brand new treatment was proven to produce permanent improvement. Really, based on what? Certainly not real-world empirical observation.

Shut the fuck up EagerMiner. You would kill your mom to get clear skin!?

Your scars are not obvious at all. They are between a 1 and 1.5/10 in terms of severity. The vast majority of people on these boards has worse scarring than you. The fact that you have stubble around them conceals them even more. Use a primer like smashbox (takes 30 seconds) or pressed powder and your scars will be even less obvious. The only lighting your scars would be noticed in is side lighting, like in clubs.

You should go on some anti anxiety medicine ASAP. Get genetic testing from 23andme.com and I guarantee that you have genetics that predispose you towards depression/anxiety. Get a spinal tab and I guarantee that you have a chemical imbalance in your brain at the moment. Now if your scars were actually mild (yours are less than that), then I would understand a bit more. Your natural shyness also indicates that normal people would not be affected by your insignificant scars to the point that you are.

People like you are a cancer to these boards and make everyone else feel worse too.

Dunno about other treatments - but co2 lasers have been proven to show long term results for acne scarring. Not 100% the same but around 70%.

Fractional co2 - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20166157 , http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10594623 (if you have access to these, this one measures up to 3 yrs) "Continued clinical improvement was observed as long as 18 months after CO2 laser resurfacing of atrophic scars, with an 11% increase in improvement observed between 6 and 18 months postoperatively." 3 years is the longest study, but quite a few doctors post on realself that from their experience with normal and fractional co2 the results a "permanent." I think Dudley on here had lasers like 5 years ago and his improvement is still pretty steady.

Regular co2 has been studied for ~20 years now as well - we know what to expect with them.

Keep in mind though that "most individuals lose about 1% of their skin elasticity and collagen content each year over age 40." Either way, temporary improvement for a few years > nothing imo. You can also get another laser once every two years or something as a follow up if you wanted until something better comes out.....

I've been suspecting that this might be the case with some treatments. At least that's how I found my (very modest) results of TCA cross to be like - the scars that improved did go back after a couple of years. However, I haven't got any proof necessarily that scar treatments would actually work this way, it's just my hunch. Do you actually know people who have had e.g. laser, dermabrasion or subcision and their scarring has eventually returned several years after?

I doubt surgical treatments would be temporary though. And I don't see too much harm in getting something like Enerjet done every five or so years. But I wouldn't necessarily put myself through very invasive treatments and then have to go back and redo those on a regular basis. It's easier (and safer) to just put on a bit of dermaflage on anything I can't come to terms with and move on.

Even though improvement after 3 years is impressive on its own, I would like to see improvement after at least ten years before I'd be convinced that something is "permanent". I think we have to go through treatments with the attitude that we'll have to have touch-up treatments down the line if we want to maintain improvement. Even if it turns out the improvement actually lasts. At least you wouldn't have exceedingly high expectations and think you'd be done with the whole scarring issue for good and then be utterly disappointed after a while.

Take heart. If this guy can heal his scars 100% (& still be positive after suffering greatly), then anybody can heal their scars 100% & should follow his positive example. Yes, it takes dedication, commitment, time and research to achieve healthy skin, but it is achievable:

_____________________________________________________________________________

Healing and removing scars by Danny England

"Many of you asked how I removed my scarring, so here is some information for you all. After my attack, I was left with slash marks on both cheeks and I had nasty marks on my forehead where the druggie had stamped on my head wearing boots. The boots left an imprint, tore my scalp and stones lodged into my forehead. I had horrid marks all over.

So I was devastated. Not just from a vain point of view, but every time I looked in the mirror I didn™t want to see the damage that had been done and be reminded of the incident. So I set to work. Now, I had always used skin care products and read up lots and lots about it so I had a good knowledge of skin and its workings.

I waited until my skin had healed. Well, I woke up out of coma 11 months after my attack. The damage had healed. My doctors had done a good job at stitching, the wounds, cleaning them and removing any debris, but I looked a terrible mess. I asked my Consultant to show me a scan of my face. I could see the cracks in my scull and jaw etc and he was able to do an ultra sound to tell me how deep the scarring went. Thankfully, most were superficial but they would not get any better due to being rips and forced trauma. One was raised and, well, it was horrid.

I started to read about peels and how to remove damaged skin. I also looked into dermabrasion, not the normal type but the kind done in surgery with a scouring pad. It made me feel sick and in the pictures I saw the skin looked so plastic afterwards that I decided to do it my way.

My skin needed gently coaxing into letting go of those layers that were scarred. So I devised a regime of peels to be done every 2 weeks. Yes, every 2 weeks, but they were very mild so healing was quick and rapid with no down time. I went online and found a most lovely lady who helped me in every way. I™m not sure if she has been mentioned in the forum before but her name is Julie Robbins and she makes retinoic acid peels in different strengths. I emailed her and she recommended a few products. I needed a peel that would help with the damaged DNA and at the same time increase my skin™s ability to rebuild my the dermal matrix. Retinoic acid was my chosen ingredient due to all of rejuvenating factors. I had used retin A before and had seen its benefits but I wanted something that was less artificial in a base that would nourish my skin at the same time. She was selling it, so I was sorted.

I also needed a super serum to heal the skin and support this rebuilding so I went online and bought some copper peptide and pure low molecular hyaluronic acid serum. I was prescribed some strong epidermal growth factor normally used for burn patients and I had read about L-proline and its benefits for collagen and skin so I got loads of that powder. I also got some centella extract for its healing capacity and, erm, what was the other, oh yes, beta glucan powder, ferulic acid and carnosine to help with the new cell production.

I got a bowl, mixed them together and there was my potent rebuilding mixture. I made it in big batches and kept it in the fridge. I used a variety of deep moisturizers and cleansers at this time to nourish my skin, including Sarah Chapman™s Oil Cleanser and Oil Serum at night.

Next the peels. I applied them every two weeks, as instructed, using cotton buds to apply directly to my face and massaging the really bad areas. Three days later I peeled just a teeny paper-thin amount. I used tons of my mixture with those disposable face mask things. So that was my regular routine. I peeled and then healed and peeled and healed. Only small amounts of skin came away so I had no down time or redness or irritation.

After three moths I saw a massive difference. My skin was brighter and some of the scarring was flatter and less noticeable. Also the color of the scarring had started to even out and match my normal skin tone. But I still had more to go.

I got a slightly stronger retinoic acid peel from Julie and she blended it with some HA and other actives and it was amazing. It allowed me to peel very gently but more frequently. The epidermal growth factor was so strong I almost healed overnight.

A year later things were looking better. I had undergone lots of surgery in that year but I kept to my plan and did my peels I even instructed the Nurse how to do it whilst I was in Intensive care for a while. She thought I was mad, but she saw the results and I get it for her now!!

I had four holes in my face from stones that were kicked in. They were pitted scarring so I spoke to Julie and I bought a Cross TCA kit and I gently applied a teeny drop of TCA into the marks. I did this every month. My skin was a lot smoother now and I noticed I was line free. Totally. How amazing was that! I was able to get some concentrated collagen amino acid cream with GABA from Julie and mixed it into my serums to keep the skin from wrinkling so the new skin layers being produced would remain line free. It worked a treat.

My skin was a bit dry as it was working overtime to make new skin so on the advice of a dermatologist added grape seed oil and camellia oil to my mixture. She also told me to get a very short needle dermaroller and to use it carefully on the area that needed more attention than others. Wow it worked so well.

Now many of you have heard of the Hayflick limit or what ever its called, I was so worried about over doing it and losing the ability to make new cells that I approached a rather famous dermatologist and explained about my treatment and mixture used and he said I would be okay as I was using potent actives to keep the cells coming.

If you imagine a piece of wood in which there are small grooves that you have to sand down to make it smooth. This is what I did to my face, but not by taking away loads of layers at a time just teeny amounts at a time whilst producing new layers deep down.

After two years, the scars were gone. The deep marks had filled themselves in from the cross peels and the rest had sloughed away slowly but surely. Everyone said I looked so well and so much younger, I had an ultra sound on my skin and it was really healthy and thick. I had no lines at all which was so amazing.

Now this may seem like an aggressive treatment regimen but because I bathed my skin and saturated them with nutrients I had no problems at all. Someone could have had this type of scarring removed with maybe two or three deep peels or one wire dermabrasion peel but the massive amount of trauma caused to the skin would have played havoc and left a weird waxy look to the skin.

So now I help lots of people to remove scarring after trauma and I have 6 people who I treat every week now as I want then to get over the accidents fully and get back to normal life again. I also help Julie out on her website and advise people who to remove scarring and marks on their faces. I guess experience is the best way of learning. I™ve learned that we need to treat the skin kindly and not have massive deep resurfacing treatments that traumatize the skin and make vast amounts of inflammation in the skin Our skin is an amazing thing and it shows you what can be achieved.

So I™ve had a kidney and liver transplant as a result of the accident, as well as dozens and dozens of surgeries and masses of medications. I™ve had a Spinal Cord Stimulator Implant, (4th machine now as they kept on breaking). But my face looks kind of cool now so when I look in the mirror I see the old Danny smiling back at me.

Any questions please fire away. I could have made this article 20 times as long but I™m aware of space so I cut it down to this.

PS I healed not only my significant acne scars, but horrific 2nd degree burn scars!!! So please don't regurgitate lies about acne scars not being treatable...SCARS CAN heal 100% with the right treatment. I'm living proof!!!!

PPS If you don't eat a highly nutritious, mostly raw, vegan, organic, wholefood diet/ drink spring water/ fresh super green juices/ freshly made fruit-veg juices; don't get optimal vitamin/ minerals; don't completely detox from artificial substances and toxins; and don't exercise and don't get lots of natural direct sunlight (without getting burned), then any treatment you attempt will yield minimal results. A healthy diet, lifestyle and positive mindset is 80% key to healing scars, The rest is an effective treatment (i.e. controlled dermal injury to activate the skin's natural wound healing response i.e. needling/ single needling or as Liquid _Ocelet has testified, Intracel; and using key effective TOPICALS).

ACNE SCARRING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GENETICS. OUR FOODS & WATERS ARE POISONED BY INDUSTRIAL WASTE, GMO, VACCINES, DISEASE, HEAVY METALS, PLASTICS ETC (PURPOSELY & ACCIDENTALLY). AND OUR SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE IS TOXIC TOO!! ~~~THESE ARE THE REAL CAUSE OF ACNE & SCARRING. AND SO TOO OVER PROCESSING, OVER WASHING OUR SKIN WITH HARSH CLEANSERS & USING TOXIC CHEMICAL ACNE TREATMENTS LIKE BENZOYL PEROXIDE ~~~ THESE SEND OUR SKIN 'OVER THE EDGE' BY STRIPPING VALUABLE NATURAL OILS WHICH PREVENTS SCARRING!! YOUR SKIN NEEDS TO BE SUPPLE & HYDRATED TO PREVENT SCARRING AND HEAL SCARRING!!!!! SO EAT WELL, GET DIRECT SUNLIGHT DAILY (WITHOUT BURNING), EXERCISE, DRINK WELL, WASH YOUR SKIN RARELY AND USE A VERY MILD VEGAN NON-TOXIC NATURAL ORGANIC CLEANSER . (SWIM AT A CLEAN BEACH TOO AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE- GREAT FOR BODY/ MIND/ SOUL).

NOTE: Retin a/ retinaldehye is also great to polish the skin. Vitamin c serum or lemon juice is also great for collagen enhancing, so too beta glucan and hyaluronic acid for healing the skin. Reputable products with B3 also helps the skin recover.

NOTE: For acne, try applying lavender oil directly on spots (or tea trea oil all over skin). Also, wash your face with sea salt once a week. Niacinamide ointment is also very effective. And so too thyme tinctures.STAY AWAY FROM CHEMICAL TOXIC HARSH ACNE products. But remember, if you're not eating well, you skin will still get acne. You might have a leaky gut syndrome or allergy too that you need to address. Toxins are also stored in body fat. Thus, if you lose weight, these toxins will be released in your blood stream/ skin. So you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle/ diet to heal your gut, body/mind/ skin. Saunas are great for detoxing. So too exercise, burdock/ dandelion herbal non caffeine tea and edible clay drinks/ face masks (see your health food store).

That's a nice anecdote about Danny England. The mechanism and etiology of particular types of scarring does make a difference. Traumatic wound scarring is very different from scarring due to infection. One is due to an immediate exogenous force, the other occurs endogenously over a protracted period of time. Add to this the fact that his scarring was very recent and likely still healing and not "set"when he began, leads me to believe that they had not become fully matured scars. So, it is more likely that he was able to prevent scarring by accelerating the healing of his wounds, rather than actually removing scar tissue.

Many of us are well past the wound phase and dealing with actual scars that are years, if not decades old. Mine are 15 years old.

If you don't eat a highly nutritious, mostly raw, vegan, organic, wholefood diet...then any treatment you attempt will yield minimal results.

It's utterly reprehensible, in my opinion, to be offering this advice. I understand you mean well, but please leave scar treatment to the medical professions and studies. The government does not have some massive depopulation plan and certainly isn't trying to poison you (FDA?). Your scars have little to nothing to do with your diet or if you have eaten non-organic, non-vegan. If you could provide any peer-reviewed papers to provide proof, it would be much appreciated.

Detoxing is a myth - quoting Frank Sacks, MD here: "Your body is designed to remove toxins efficiently with organs such as the kidneys, liver, and colon. You don™t need detox diets, pills, or potions to help your body do its job."

You have some good advice - Retin-A and needling can work for scars. Washing your skin less - maybe, if that's what works for your skin. Moisturizing is important.

Daily sun exposure will pretty much negate all the positives of scar treatments. Sun exposure without protection will make your scars worse because it breaks down the collagen that you are trying to build up - sun damage and wrinkling isn't just a myth.

I can speak from personal experience and say diet is not 100% the cause of acne. I have friends who are morbidly obese, eat horribly and have gorgeous skin.

Finally, your genetics have a LOT to do with whether or not you will scar. Simple example: keloid scars. African Americans are much, much more prone to them than other skin types - do you think that's just a coincidence? It's pretty insulting, in my opinion, to imply people's diet and lifestyle choices are the causes of their skin problems - as if people with acne don't have enough problems with the misconception that they're dirty and unhealthy. It's totally possible to be vegan, exercise, not overweight and have bad skin.

Take heart. If this guy can heal his scars 100% (& still be positive after suffering greatly), then anybody can heal their scars 100% & should follow his positive example. Yes, it takes dedication, commitment, time and research to achieve healthy skin, but it is achievable:

You dont need detox diets, pills, or potions to help your body do its job."

Most of what we are is genetic. It is psychologically abusive to blame people for their physical problems. Case in point, I eat 3 large meals a day and snack in between and I'm almost 30 and I never put on weight. I am 145 lbs, the same as I have been all throughout my 20's. I have had horrible skin problems and allergies all of my life, and I have lived under vastly different circumstances; varying diets, amounts of exercise, geographical locations, skin regimens... I have never had a girl be attracted to me. I have only been able to watch girls from a distance show affection to other guys and wished for once that it could be me. None of that is my fault. I have been crafted to a very specific form by meticulous biological forces controlled by my genes, just like you.

The real solution is in our genes, and it is obvious that we will eventually control these mechanisms. Our bodies and minds are separately evolving organisms. It is unfortunate that in this time our minds are still the prisoner to our diseased bodies. (read Richard Dawkins - The Selfish Gene)

All people detox through their skin. It's the body's secondary detox route (the first route is the digestive system). If you don't detox effectively through your skin, you'll put your liver & kidney through hell... acne is your body telling you it is allergic to something toxic/ artificial you ate/ absorbed/ inhaled etc...people with clear skin that don't have leaky gut syndrome or detox mainly through their digestive tract will instead be susceptible to heart-attacks, heart disease, cancer & other diseases if they choose to eat junk/ drink junk. The lesson is, if you put toxins, vaccines, heavy metals, GMO, aspartame & other junk food/ junk drinks into/onto your body, you will eventually pay for it later, whether it shows up on your skin or in your deteriorated, rotting organs.

I think anyone that thinks nutrition isn't key to good health/ clear skin (as well as using key topicals & needling etc), is kidding themselves & just loves junk food/ lazing about more than having clear healthy skin.

PS I know when I ate terribly (i.e, junk food/ typical western diet high in meat/ dairy etc) I had severe acne and when I used harsh acne cleansers/ benzoyl peroxide etc, I got acne scars. However, when I become a healthy vegan/ used mild cleansers (rarely), drank fresh veg/ fruit juices/ super juice, exercised, skin needled & used key topicals, my acne scars disappeared. If you can't see the connection between healthy diet/ healthy body/ healthy lifestyle/ clear skin then you're either in denial, like your junk food comfort zone or are intellectually challenged.
