Re: Hydrating mists & nourishing serums
FYI Remicade & Others,
Just thought I'd post a general recommendation that has helped me & others...it is vital that skin is kept supple & moist to keep it from scarring...so if your skin is acne prone, try using a natural spring water based hydrating mist like Evian, or if you need something more hydrating, try one that is a proper hydrating facial mist. I've used Sukin's Hydrating Mist with great results. But there are many more... if you don't like oils or moisturizer, get a hydrating face mist. Btw, you can use a gentle natural dry shampoo spray on your hair if you accidentally spray the hydrating mist in your hair (NB don't have excessive showers or wash your face excessively, your skin needs it's natural sebum as its protective skin lipid barrier).
Does anyone recommend another good facial mist? e.g. Is Jane Ireland Facial Mist a good one etc?
PS This also looks good, anyone tried Vital-C serum by The Body Deli? http://beautybybritanie.com/2013/06/21/review-the-body-deli-vital-c-serum/ & https://thebodydeli.com/Products/Face/Serums/Vital-C-Serum.html
PPS And this too, Nutra-Peptide Serum by The Body Deli...has anybody used this? https://thebodydeli.com/Products/Face/Serums/Copy-of-Nutra-Peptide-Serum.html
PPPS This facial Liquid Vitamin Hydra-Mist spray looks great (but pricey) https://thebodydeli.com/Products/Face/Moisturizers/Hydra-Mist.html
They write Misting the face is the missing link for maintaining optimal levels of hydration and maximizing all other facial care products, said David Parker, co-owner of The Body Deli. Regularly spraying the face with a micro-fine mist is the most effective way to reduce the signs of aging and overall impart a dewy, youthful look."
FUNCTIONALITY
-increases skin hydration
-produces a dewy, healthy glow
-reduces fine lines and wrinkles
-increases absorption of all skincare products
-revitalizes make-up
-also an excellent after-shave tonic for men

Anyways, it's been days since i read that story but im pretty sure you guys will be able to find it on google. Just type, facial massag ruined my face. You'll eventually find some. Because i always search the negative together with the positive. But anyways, im excited to try this massage! I agree with Aquasea. TRY IT ONLY and ALWAYS listen to your face ans skin! Stop if there is negative effects immidiately!
Thanks for your input. There are indeed negative reports of facial massaging, but i think most of them are coming from a "Carole Maggio's facercise" program which doesn't seem suitable for just scars. In any case, the positive effects of facial massages in general seem to overwhelmingly outweigh the negative ones [Edited image out]
I wish i could afford those serums you suggest aquasea, but I'm a broke college student at the moment, and shippings to Mexico are not cheap [Edited image out]
Hi Miko Yan
Yes, they are expensive, but I'm sure you can source many of the key ingredients cheaply and make your own DIY serum...lots of people are into DIY skincare...just research online...or, perhaps, even better than the serums, just make your own face masks using fruits/ veg etc...i.e. avocado is suppose to be very good on the face...and rubbing strawberries on the face is said to be very healing too...and then there's raw honey...some even say that raw organic brown sugar is a great hydrating scrub...I've never used it, but I will in future....just research these natural face mask recipes online...I'm sure these are waaaay better than the expensive serums anyway...nothing beats 100% natural topicals!!!
As for the facial mist, maybe you can look at buying a cheap atomizer bottle/ spray bottle and fill it with one of the following: spring water mixed with a little raw honey; rose water; spring water and a little vegetable glycerine; spring water and a few drops of frankincense/ sandalwood essential oil etc...I'm sure there are many great DIY face mist recipes online...just research...
Cheers
Btw, the Sukin brand face mist is about $10 and lasts a long time if you use it once or twice a day...i.e. it should last at least 3 or 4 months...
AghhNe,
It is my understanding that the beta glucans in oats are mostly in the bran, which is about 25% glucans by content. If you look at oats in general with the whole kernels, then the content is about 5%, which is still pretty amazing. In other words, you can get quite a good dose of beta glucans by eating oatmeal. Companies take the bran and concentrate it up to about 80%. Then this is used to make the 1% solutions, so you would have to add about 1.2 gm of concentrated (80%) beta glucan powder to 98.8 gms of water to make a 1% solution. From what I have read it seems that 1% solution is pretty optimal, with little value for higher concentrations. Of course, it is also necessary to add some preservatives to maintain the solution for longer periods of time... and this is also in the solution so it will last for long periods of time without biological degradation. I know that vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is also a great preservative. It would be nice if somebody made a 1% beta glucan solution with vitamin c as the preservative. It would be a very simple and pure topical for skin care.
That's great information John777, thanks for posting it !!!
Yes, beta glucan is a terrific ingredient to help heal/ remodel your skin...please seriously consider getting this key ingredient into your daily mesotherapy routine...here's a blurb about it:
Beta Glucan: A Skin Care Ingredient Everyone Should be Using
What is it?
Beta-glucan stimulates macrophage activity, which plays a crucial role in the skin by scavenging scar tissue and debris, removing bacteria, stimulating immune repair and providing a wealth of growth factors that feed, renew and remodel the skin.
What does it do for the skin?
- Increases macrophage activity to clean up scar tissue at the dermal/epidermal junction. This helps to remodel the skin by clearing up pathways of communication between the epidermis and dermis.
- Supports the skins healing process.
- Improves and supports immune function of the skin.
- Can be used to treat burns or wounds.
What skin type/conditions benefit from Beta Glucan?
- Acne skin benefits from Beta-glucan greatly because of the macrophage activity which helps to support the healing of and works to decrease scarring from breakouts by increasing skin immunity.
- Aging skin benefits from the removal of scar tissue, remodelling the skin and making room for new well formed cells and increased cell communication.
- Hyper pigmented skins benefits from the removal of scar tissue at the dermal/epidermal junction making way for improved cellular crosstalk which can help improve melanocytes (and general cell) function.
- Rosacea skin conditions benefit greatly as it allows for easier communication between the epidermis and the dermis resulting in improved skin function while reducing redness in the skin because of its anti-inflammatory properties.
Products with Beta-glucan:
Osmosis Products:
- Acne Blend, Anti-aging Blend
- Vitamin A Serums Clarify, Correct, Renew, Calm
- Enlighten
- Refresh, Refresh PM
Treatments that utilize Beta-glucan:
- Osmosis Nourishing Facial
- Advanced Acne Facial
- Rosacea calming facial
- Needling Infusion Treatments
- Medical Skin Needling
PS Try and source the purest form of this ingredient...John777 suggested Garden of Wisdom (btw, this brand receives great reviews online!!!)....I'm using New Directions Beta Glucan Liquid (which has helped my skin immensely), but is contains additives which are not great at all!! Still searching for a perfect/ all natural/ high potency beta glucan product !!! Please let me know if anyone sources are a great brand!!!
Hi Aanabill
Beta glucan, overtime, will greatly help improve the overall health/ condition of your skin/ tone...and yes, it will assist to improve/ heal acne scarring of all types/ all skin conditions, as it encourages/ stimulates healthy cell growth & renewal. (It's especially important for healing 1st & 2nd degree burns - it absolutely helped my 2nd degree burns heal and my skin to regrow back as it has 17 natural growth factors that encourage new healthy skin growth... ).
However, IMHO, to significantly induce new skin growth/ collagen in scarring/ wounds not "open" or recent, mesotherapy will be needed too (i.e. skin needling/ massaging/ cupping/ vacuum therapy etc). As far as I know, beta glucan can help to encourage new cell/ skin growth and repair damaged skin/ cells/ DNA, but I'm not sure it can trigger complete (100%) acne scar revision alone. I could be wrong though!! But in my experience so far, it seems only a localized dermal injury activates damaged skin tissue's innate healing mechanism to completely remodel & heal (NB retin a/ retinaldehyde/ retinoic acid is also vital to re-organize skin cells on the skin's surface to appear smoother/ resurfaced).
Please research beta glucan studies etc for more info....
Cheers

u see i am not a fan of big medical techniques they do for scars, primarily because i am concerned about just one scar that i have on my left cheek.
i am not an expert on scars but someone told me its a box scar.
so i am more inclined on natural easy-to-do remedies but since there are less experimentation and scientific researches on those it seems ,i feel a lil' disappointed.
here u could see the pic of the scar -
do u think massaging will wrk on it?
i do massage that area while i cleanse with my cleanser btw.
not for 30 minutes though!
really less.1-2 minutes.
this if off topic but since this thread does discuss natural stuff good for skin in general,
does anything work on huge pores?
i'd ask u kindly follow the link for pics -
Hi Aanabill
I suggested something above for your boxcar scar, please see post #103...
And as for massaging, you could try 1 or 2 minutes of massage...but I don't know if that will make a difference...you can test it yourself and let us know if you find it beneficial.
Re for pore size, I believe they will return to normal size once you have established a good natural lipid barrier to your skin, given your skin the nutrition it needs, stay away from tap water and harsh topicals and ensure you have enough healthy EFAs in your diet...it will take a while though...
Others report success with:
- Retin a/ retinaldehyde/ retinoic
- Beta glucan
- Fresh lemon juice
- Copper peptides
- You could also try a dermaroller (i.e. a short one like (0.25mm ) for greater product penetration and to activate the skin's natural remodeling response & innate growth factors.
Essentially, once your skin becomes "healthy", the pores should likewise be a healthy/ normal size.....
Does anyone have other suggestions for Aanabill?
i believe in a 'balanced' diet and it does include fish, eggs and lots of veggies(of various kind),green leafy ones and fruits in good amount
i live with my parents and so i have curries and dishes that uses less(than usual) rice-bran oil.
i also have EVOO, lemon water, ginger cinnamon, green tea.
i am trying to start with pumpkin seeds(i'll have to do some more study on that though).
what i am trying to say is keep my diet good for skin and over all health.
so i hope i get enough FAs and vitamins/minerals.
lemon doesnt suit me.
i dnt breakout crazy but i get numerous white heads and small size zits.
i've tried it more than once for testing purpose.
as for massaging, yes,i will do that twice regularly and let u know in say, 3-4 mnths.
thank u for the help.
This looks interesting - Jess Organics http://www.jescollection.com ....has anyone used this brand/ product ??
STEP: 4 (Correct) Treatment Serum+ with Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) DMAE,Carrot Oil, MSM, Hyaluronate, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C
http://www.jescollection.com/bepeagse.html
I'm trying to source a good organic daily topical containing B3 niacinamide (and as many other beneficial ingredients as possible in one product) ... does anyone have any suggestions?
So far after 1 month no change.
could you tell us about the technique you've employed? i've been doing massages since mid May and i'm certain i've gotten at least 20% long term improvement over the area i treated.
I've taken a rather extreme approach compared to aquasea's methods; that is massaging everyday with a %0.05 tretinoin cream up until the point that my skin is just about to bleed as a result of mechanical abrasion. no oils, no mosturizers, just leaving the tretinoin overnight. timing varies from 10-70 minutes depending on how vigorous you are (i don't think that matters much). I don't recommend this unless your skin is used to retinoids (5 months at least; ive been on %0.05 tretinoin for more than 2 years).
Well after my last post there is improvement, it's very hard to tell if it's 10% or 15% but DAILY MASSAGE WORKS. It seems fibrous bands of rolling scars loosen. I massage only 2-3 times/week 10-15 minutes.
Yeah man .Massage works. I dont understand why people are bashing natural and effective methods.
What oils do you use?
Well according to latest studies vit E it's not good for scars. Sorry
.
Thats scam study!!!!!!
Vitamin e is very helpfulll!!!! Olive oil and avocado are so helpful in tissue healing and they have all of them vitamin e!!!

are u doing anything for the pores?
try keeping a track if the process is helping the pores as well.
i am not very sure about scars.
but i am told that i have this box scar.here there's a pic :
will massaging(with say,my usual cleanser while cleansing) help it in anyway?
Hi Aanabill,
This scar is very simple to remedy. You just need to single needle (& possibly use fresh lemon juice as well) to stimulate collagen...just do this once or twice a week for 4 to 8 weeks & then stop (i.e. prick your scar 3 or 5 times, leaving some space between the pricking to ensure skin is left in tact). You can also consider suctioning/ cupping/ vacuum therapy for more stubborn scar areas i.e. See http://shop.owndoc.c...les-pid172.html & http://shop.owndoc.c...ars-pid212.html . Also, you might want to trial massaging your scar for 5 minutes after pricking it. I know when I pricked/ needled my skin and massaged I noticed better results.
Cheers
Aquasea, why do you say to needle a couple times a week; I thought we were supposed to only do it every 6-8 weeks. That's a big difference; where did you hear otherwise?
Thanks
