hey! its been almost 6 months for me and i see no evolution, its in my nose, do you think this part of the body could maybe take more time to heal?

hey!
i had a shot in my nose, and it happened to damage all the side os my nose. not only a spot.was your only a spot or did it damage all the area around it?

They think it's comforting so say "oh it's not that bad" but that's easy to say when it's not on your face and you don't feel violated by a dermatologist.
I was on accutane for nine months. My final accutane check up was in April (2016) and during that appointment, my dermatologist decided to inject a bump that was under my skin on my cheek. The bump did not hurt, it was not physically visible, you could simply feel a little bump under the skin.
My dermatologist did not tell me there were any side effects to the shot (if I knew it could cause atrophy, I obviously would not have done it), I did not sign anything accepting any risks. That same night, I noticed the skin around that area turned white, it lost its pigmentation. Then a week later, the area began to sink. At first I just thought the skin was just getting darker but it was also starting to dimple. It has been getting worse and worse and my dermatologist kept brushing me off until I started asking for information about why I wasn't informed of side effects or given any consent forms to sign for the procedure. She even entered in her report that she injected a "large, painful, red, and swollen cyst" on my left cheek. LIAR. Finally she agreed to see me (June 2016). She tried to deny that the obvious atrophy was from the cortisone at all, she tried to say it's because there was a bump there, and now there's not. Simple as that. Of course that could have played a part but this dent is SUFFICIENTLY larger than the little bump that was there to begin with. It looks like someone put a cigarette out on my cheek. I am so devastated. I've been suffering on accutane and my skin finally looks amazing and then she deformed me on my LAST VISIT. I feel so cheated and no matter what I do, I can't be proud of my face. I was offered laser treatment (by a different and far more experienced dermatologist) as my best option. Since it was free, I decided to try it. I've had one laser treatment and there is no improvement yet but she says it could take three treatments. They said saline shots won't help.
I just want to know if anyone has had luck with laser treatment or just any luck at all with the atrophy filling in. I'm trying to hold on to some hope that this will go away. Thank you for reading my rant, this has been eating away at me (quite literally). Any response is welcome. Please help
hi! im having the same problem, did your dent get any better??
I'm really desperate to know how real people have healed over years of suffering from cortisone atrophy?
While I suffer from acne, my atrophy is actually in a surgical scar on my eyelid. I know this is an acne forum but I would still appreciate advice.
I have always heard the horror stories of atrophy happening when injected into a zit so I have always stayed far away from it.
However, due to an unfortunate accident I developed a webbed hypertrophy in my tearduct. I was so nervous about the injection. I specifically elaborated to my plastic surgeon that I wanted to be VERY conservative with the injections. Also, that it was imperative that the scar itself was injected, and to really dilute the solution.
After about two weeks post injection I suffered massive atrophy in the scar itself and surrounding tissues. It's unbearable. Not to mention it really discolored the whole area.
I will be carefully injecting saline myself in the oncoming weeks in hopes to dissolve remaining Kenalog.
After that, I am wanting a mild subcision followed by Restalyne. Restalyne is the least permanent filler you can find on the market which means less risk. I'm terrified of permanent fillers so I would never even consider that.
It has been two months since my cortisone shot and I haven't noticed any improvement whatsoever.
Please any advice is so appreciated.
I remember reading forums and thinking, "I would never get a cortisone shot."
Now here I am. Heartbroken.
I've had this happen in the past and am now seeing a new dermatologist who gives me less cortisone in each injection. Sometimes I have to go back for more. Give it time...up to a year I'd imagine. My derm suggested a filler for spots I'm self conscious about. Haven't tried it yet but will report if I do. Good luck and be patient.
Okay. Here is my situation. I don't break out often and have generally what people call "clear skin". However, in the last year I've experienced some cystic acne around the time of my menstrual cycle- this has only happened twice so far. Six months ago I got a quarter sized cyst on my cheek that lasted a month, and because I couldn't wait, I popped it. Big mistake. It left an indented scar which I have now learnt to cover with make-up. The scar isn't big, but for someone who has never scarred before, I was shocked that acne can do that to you. I was pretty depressed for a month. Flash forward to my newest and second cyst. It's pretty small (2x2mm) but very painful and very red. The surrounding area looks like a war zone and funnily enough, same area as last cyst. Popped up yesterday and I have no idea what to do. Really considering a cortisone shot but the indented scarring would crush me. How likely is it that I will get an indented scar? Also, what if I just tried some topical treatments like BP and a touch of hydrocortisone cream with a hydrocolloid band-aid? You know, let it be for a week and see what happens? Side note: I am already on apo-cephalex (started today) because of a shin injury at resulted in a horrific cut. So should I wait for the antibiotics To kick in? Scarring is my number one fear.
I have had the exact same problem as you. It's so frustrating. Once I get the cyst, I keep getting them over and over in the same spot. Funnily enough, I have it in the exact same spot as you do as well. Like you, I'm terrified of getting a hole in my face, so I have 2 majorly cyst prone areas but I'm too scared to get them taken care of. I've read up on this and for some, if a dent does happen it eventually goes away in 1-6 months, but sometimes it's permanent. Also, it's possible to get a saline injection to try and help heal the dent if it did happen to you.
You could always try the BP. Also, icing it really helps since it cuts off the blood flow supply to the pimple. Icing it for 1-2 minutes at time [with the ice wrapped in a tissue] a few times a day is a good idea. You could also try topical SA to dry it out. It's not actually as big and awful as you think, btw...I promise!

Thank you for replying. It really actually isn't that big at all but cystic acne really scares me. It's not the bump so much but the prospect of scarring. And then scarring from the injection. But I don't think the mini cyst qualifies as big enough for a cortisone injection, yet I don't want to leave it just chilling in my skin and have it scar my skin from waiting. I did try icing it. It actually worked and I do feel the volume of the cyst is diminished now; even more reason not to get an injection. The redness around the actual cyst has become terrifying from all the topical treatment. I've shrunk the cyst but done nothing for the increasingly scary redness. Any suggestions?

You're welcome. I feel that for people like us, the only way these marks usually scar is if we poke, prod and pop them. That's been my experience anyway, so try not to panic. The redness could also be from holding the ice, and using spot treatment that have an exfoliating effect on your skin. Just do not touch it and see what it looks like by tomorrow morning. If it's irritated, a warm compress could help soothe it.

So. The ice actually did nothing. In the morning it was back to its usual size and I had ice burns all over my cheek. Now not only spotty but a RED mess. Disgusting to look at. So I cut my losses and went in for a cortisone injection. I stressed my paranoia to the nurse who only used one unit (if you know what that means). No idea myself. She promised there wouldn't be atrophy. She told me she didn't even inject the full one unit. Now two hours later, I see a little of the redness gone and the cyst is about the same size. Full results in 24 hours? Let's see I guess. I'm concerned she didn't inject the right part of the cyst and She assured me she did. Let's see.

Well I got it done- two hours in I don't see much of a difference but it was quite small. The shot hurt like a bitch, probably because she pervaded the cyst walls I guess. Is it normal for the nurse or doctor to inject from the side of the cyst and work their way to the middle? I nearly cried when I saw the small injection hole was OUTSIDE the cyst area, but she assured me that the injection went in to the cyst from the side. I mean it did hurt like a bitch. I also made sure that she used the absolute least amount possible. I'm curious as to when I will see results!

I am really sorry you were in pain from the ice. I've never had that happen before. :-/ did you hold the ice directly on your skin or for a really long period of time? I do hope it goes away soon. I'm surprised it's the same size as it was before the injection. Mahbe it'll just take time.
I used two layers of paper towel to ice it, but sensitive skin I guess. Well I mean you're technically supposed to give it 24 hours. Don't feel bad about the ice, it wasn't your fault. I should've been way more careful. I'm very anxious/excited to see the results of my cortisone injection. I'm hoping for the best and somewhat prepared for the worst. My boyfriend said he saw a difference so now it's time to play the waiting game...

Yes, definitely avoid icing it in the future then...a warm compress would be a better option for sure. I am really hoping the best for you. Maybe there's more progress but it's only noticeable to others, sometimes we can be overly critical of ourselves and it's a good sign your BF saw a change. Hang in there.
