Hi! I dont have acne scars, but i have steroid atrophy on my face after using topical steroids. My skin is very thin, it's like a paper.
Had anyone isolagen or LaViv treatment here? Derma said that it can help to improve my skin. She said that my skin can become thicker and much improve quality.
Is it true?
Sory for my english.
Hello V
I am sorry you haven't had many responses. I don't have any experience with LaViv treatment, I hope somebody with experience can give you some advice. 9000 does seem like a lot of money for a single treatment, I presume that is not dollars?
How long ago did you stop using steroid cream? Was it long-term usage? Do you bleed/bruise extremely easy and if so, do the bruises take a lot longer than usual to heal? I ask this because this can happen after taking steroid treament both orally and externally long-term. Having an intense treatment right after stopping steroids is not advisable while the skin is still in a very fragile state.
I would talk to a good Derm about all of these issues and do your research online. You really do need to allow enough time after steroid usage and make sure your skin is ready for treatment.
Vzhik- What steroid were you using? You've been quoted much less than I have been for treatment in the US. Where would you get the LaViv done? Did you use the steroid over your entire face? If not, do you have damage over your entire face? I have scarring (straie) from the steroid I used (Betaderm). I was given it by a derm who did not tell me it was in the cream she made for me. How many treatments will you get for $9 000? Thank you for the information. This has been devastating for me. I hope it all works out for you. Jennie
I have been researching LaViv and it looks promising with regards to its safety. It seems to work similiar to fillers, but does not carry the associated side effects these may cause. There are not many reviews on this as it is a relatively new procedure.
The only downside is that it does not seem to be a permanent solution and lasts six months to a year. Unless you are Richard Branson's favourite grandson, this would be very expensive to maintain!
I would still talk to a few derms for different opinions and treament options, it's such a lot of money.
Whatever you decide, good luck and keep us informed on your progress.
Hi! Thanks to everyone! I had my first injetions today, it was very painfully. It was 80 000 cells, next time it will be 60 000 ( may 13th). My face is red now and has bruises.
I will write tomorrow.
Vzhik- how long did the dermatologist say the LaViv would last? I thought it was only approved in the US. Where in Russia are you getting it done? I hope it goes very well for you!
I have tried dermarolling, I eat well, and moisturize with nourishing oils, including rosehip. My damage is extreme and at a cellular level due to the steroid. It is devastating and I do not see anything but dermal substitutes, LaViv, ReCell, etc. helping in any substantive way.
My derma - Shokolova Svetlana. She works at "Raylife" clinic in Moscow. She has over 30 years experience in medecine and i think she is very good.
http://9251925.ru/ - she works here (Raylife), it is on russian. If you have questions i will answer on all.
Thank you so much. I wanted to ask you a few questions. If you'd rather not answer, that is fine. May I ask why you used the Bethamethasone on your face for so long, and if it was continuous use over the ten months. How does your atrophy present? Does your face burn and become red (flares)? Do you have any stretchmarks/fat loss/muscle damage? I would love to be able to contact your derm. Do you know if she accepts emails in English? I really hope this works for you. I feel your pain completely, and so sorry this happened to you.

I had rosacea, and derma prescribed to me this cream. And i became like a drug addict. I hate this derma, she have to know that steroids cream doesnt work for rosacea. I used it so long, it is my fault.
Yes my face burn and become red, my skin is very thin and sensetive. I can see blood vessels on my cheeks.
Svetlana Shokolova works at Tuesdays and Thursdays. I can call her next week and ask about email on english. Where do you live?
Mine skin is the same. It is NOT your fault. It is the derm's fault. They are supposed to know about skin. Betamethasone should never be used on the face, and steroids should not be used for rosacea. And steroids are addictive. They cause a physiological addiction to the skin. I live in Toronto, Canada. I have bad scarring from the steroid as well (stretchmarks). The derm I went to did not even tell me about the steroid in the cream she made me. Please take care. Think of all the new fibroblasts repairing your dermis.
Hi Vzhik, my skin is exactly the same. It is as though moisturizer does not sink into the skin. I tried some half-hearted dermarolling myself, but that was before I knew about the steroid....I spent about eight months being sent from derm to derm and doctor to doctor to see what had happened as the original derm played dumb and said she had no idea. Since knowing about the atrophy I have done red light treatment (Omnilux), Vit C serum, and one round of Selphyl. My skin is constantly red with white "panda" eyes. Is yours like that? If so, did your derm say the Laviv might help with the redness as well? I have no idea what to do. Did you have any subcutaneous fat atrophy or muscle weakness/atrophy as well? I pray this works for you. I don't know how I will ever afford it. I had to have jaw surgery and braces. My chewing muscles collapsed during the time I used the steroid.....I think it triggered something auto-immune. I have contacted a surgeon in the US and hope his foundation might offer to pay for my LaViv. My life is so different now.

I have a small hole under the right eye. Derma said that it will not disappear, but can improve and become better. My skin is very flabby and my fase looks went down like i'm 40. Other people dont notice it, but i know how my face was before atrophy and i see changes.
