Good luck with the healing gbl!

Quite frankly, you look fantastic with or without your scar but I really hope you get as much benefit from Recell as possible! A favourable outcome on your part would be the driving catalyst for me to book a Recell treatment.

Remember it takes months for the swelling to go down completely. Therefore it will be a while before you can objectively assess how much improvement you did or didn't receive. I can't stress this enough, as someone who has been reading this forum on and off for 6 years and followed many mini-treatment-blogs like yours. Conversely collagen production continues for months afterwards as well, so don't be disheartened if you don't see much improvement initially.

If life becomes busy, I would be grateful if you could revisit this topic in say 3 months from now to give your final verdict on Recell.

Good luck :D

im told that full results arent seen for up to a year. so i'm not expecting that much straight away, in fact I'm not expecting much at all because i dont want to get my hopes up. I'm planning to post up pics after the dressings come off, after 1 week, 4 weeks, then 3, 6, 12 months. And being super-critical I'll be the LAST person to claim its worked, if it hasnt. I've got email notifications for this thread so if i disappear off the radar it should be easy enough to alert me!

Oh and I also just wanted to say, that your're VERY pretty with or without the scar. I'm a guy looking for solutions to my acne scars(there ain't much pretty about that!) --but you have great features and honestly, your scar makes you look kind of badass --in a fierce and sexy way.

HA HA that actually made me LOL. I appreciate you saying it, of course I dont feel the same way!!!

My husband calls me Harry Potter. Yeah he's really sympathetic LOL. It doesnt bother him

For me, its like a slow motion panic everytime i see it, even after 15 years

I dont really want to talk about how i got the scar, sorry

However i can empathise with acne sufferers as i had acne and adult acne way up into my 30s- was on various medications ( mainly lymecycline) and in fact it only cleared up when i was pregnant 4 yeas ago. Im lucky my acne didnt scar me (I used to get the huge red painful lump type) so even though my scar isnt directly from acne, dont think i dont understand the psychological impact of acne!

Best wishes. Hope it works!

The US Department of Defense is using ReCell for a trial on treating scars: www.avitamedical.com/?ob=3&id=238

I spoke to Aussie dermatologist Greg Goodman who's done some research using ReCell. I have acne scars on my chest, and he told me that his experience is that ReCell doesn't do much for "full thickness" scars like I've got. But then I look at this case study which shows massive improvement to scars similar to what I've got on my chest and think there's some hope: www.avitamedical.com/index.php?ob=3&id=279

Please do keep us updated. Despite what Dr. Greg Goodman told me, I'm still hoping ReCell could be of some help to me.

Also, I doubt it makes any difference to you at this point, but I thought your scar looked fine before treatment. It just looks like an indentation in your forehead, which is a lot less off-putting than, say, acne scarring, which totally messes up the texture of your skin. I hope the treatment works for you, but understand that there's a reason it doesn't bother your husband (it doesn't look bad to me either.)

EDIT: Dammit, why doesn't this site let me post links? They always vanish from my posts. I had to remove the http:// prefix before they'd show up.

Hey Jake,

Did he refer to Recell as a standalone treatment or paired up with another treatment (ex laser). Recell alone might not give much results, but paired up with another treatment could produce synergistic results.

i wrote a thread on recell and I'm gonna update more information soon.

surely you would have to do it in combination with another treatment. You cant put the solution onto unbroken skin, there would be nowhere for it to 'take hold'

dressing has fallen off the donor site (behind ear) All there is , is a small clot of scab less than 1cmx 1cm. There's no sign of the 2cm square cut so i dont know if the edges have shrunk into that small circle, or if its truely healed that quick. I'll update photos tomorrow when both dressings are off and cleaned up. The treated scar area appears to have dried up well aswell and I dont even think there's much scabbing there, some bits of scab have been falling away from under the dressing as the edges of the dressing are getting battered. I'm not getting too optimistic though because i think the indent will still be there at this stage. Just because it heals fast, doesnt means its healed different

I have never heard of the laser they used on you, but i doubt it makes much of a difference for such a small area. Im not sure why he told you wait a year to see results. it should only be a few months to half a year.

i think the full extent of pigmentation improvement can take quite a few months. Hopefully it should look better texture right away though

Good to see people experimenting with treatments and sharing results, nice gesture.

Please keep us updated.

P.S. Don't pick scabs, best to keep it covered.

GBL, hope you're doing well. I'm a bit concerned also about the indicated timeline of this taking up to 1 year for full results --surely 3 months will get us close to the final result. I'm really praying for the best for you!

Well the dressing fell off my forehead last night and I'm cautiously pleased with what I can see so far...got a follow up visit this morning and hopefully will be allowed to at least dab it clean after that and take some pics for you all to debate over!!

Bit up and down right now.....the scabs have continued to fall off through the day and now is almost all new skin.

Here's the good:

From the front, it looks great. Really, really surprisingly great. Pigment looks restored, the siny texture is pretty much gone

The donor site - for those concerned about scarring there- seems no need to worry. Mine has healed like something out of a superhero movie LOL

Here's the two positive pics...will continue in a minute with the not-so-positive

Ok here goes. I took these photos and then wanted to cry. This is the same conditions as the before pics, and you can see that the indent is clearly apparant especially in the worst light

I shouldnt get upset because i knew it wouldnt 'cure' the indent, plus its early days , hardly the final result!!! But still , I almost didnt want to post these because i was so disappointed (in spite of telling myself my hopes werent up)

for aftercare, ive been supplied with

Vit C serum

Milk cleanser

Herbal pigment oil

Betagel

Although i had been using copper peptide products for a month prior and felt it was helping, and ive also noticed smoothing of a couple other scars i was using it on. I asked if I could add that in but the dr said stick to those products above that they sell. I really would rather add it in....so..doctors orders or follow my own research findings!???!
