I'll try take a pic now after my shower but they're sort of hard to notice until you get the right lighting If I could describe them..Some look like tiny shallow ice pick scars and others can be like oval indents you can see the shadow and shading of..and then there's just straight up lines that look like I was cut and it left a line... I know they're not caused by anything because #1: the spots weren't even in that area.. #2: even if it was it wouldn't be linear scarring!! I don't even leave my house anymore so they're not cuts and I sleep on my back so I'm not cutting myself while I'm asleep.. I go to bed at like 7am and wake up at like 2 so my family would know if I was sleep walking...II drink lots of water... honestly this is depressing the shit out of me! Waking up every morning seeing a new scar!
This is exactly what happened to me, except I was using Retin-A topically. I'm not sure how to describe this, but from my experience it made my skin "mushy", the lines you mention after waking up sound similar as well - one day my girlfriend accidentally "finger nailed" my forehead and I noticed her finger nail impression wasn't going away, I still have those, and other marks all over my face, including HUGE pores and broken capillaries. This was two years ago and life has been a nightmare since, to say it has "diminished" my quality of my life would be an understatement, it has all but ended it. I had great skin prior to all this, but I'm in my late 20's and I was tired of occasional breakouts. I wish I could tell you that it gets better, and for you - maybe it will, for me, it didn't.
This sounds similar to me. Does the texture of your skin look uneven and rough looking? I have so many scars that are not really noticeable unless a bad lighting catches me but my skin texture looks awful. I have 2 wide but sort lines on my left cheek that I can't understand where they came from. I used to squeeze any tiny bump on my face but I definitely have scars on my face all over from where I never had anything to pick at.

Most of my scars are from Retin-A. After a couple of months of using it, literally the smallest pimples would leave scars. If I hadn't used it, I would probably only have 3-4 scars.

yeah that's exactly it! My skin texture and colour look really red and dry..I'm getting patches of rash looking tiny tiny headless spot clusters on my face too..I don't squeeze bumps or pimples but I can tell there's new scars from places I never even had spots to begin with.. It's extra strange to me because I had bad cystic acne and wasn't left with noticeable scars.. it's only now I'm starting to notice my skin looking wethered with more creases, indentations and shit! Hopefully we can get this thread some attention so more people who are suffering from these strange symptoms can comment.
Update : That sleep crease I was talking about yesterday on my left pec still hasn't healed..I'm starting to worry that my skin has lost all ability to heal itself.. excuse my language but it's a f%king sleep crease that should fade 20 minutes after you get out of bed and yet it's STILL there like 24 hours later! It's legit starting to look like a scar too!
Yeah I feel the exact same tbh...I'm 19 and have the skin of a 91 year old leper! Might aswell be Spongebob at this stage with the amount of holes appearing on my face! I legitimately think my healing ability has completely stopped! I have a few tiny pastule type spots that just went down and I can ALREADY see the scar!! This is SOOOO depressing knowing any slight scratch or cut will permanently scar my face for the rest of my life!!
I havethe same issues, I think it's been described as "micro scarring". I have loads of shallow lines and pits as well which gives my skin an orange peel look. I never used accurate but I think retin a was to blame. Prior to retin a, I still had pitted skin, but less pits and the overall texture was a lot better.

yeah seems like we all have the same condition so at least we're on the right track to finding some sort of remedy haha I think it has something to do with high doses of vitamin A..whether it's accutane or retin-a.. but I think it's safe to say we're not imagining this...
Woke up today and I have a giant long crease looking line scar on my left cheek! FUCK if there's ever been such thing as a nightmare thread..This is it!
I can't see my derm until next month or the next!!!!!!! I'm gonna look like Freddy Krueger!!

just out of interest are these scars only noticeable to you? I can see hundreds on my face in the right light yet my other half can only see 3 or 4 deeper ones and doesnt seem to have any idea what im on about with the rest of them so i do wonder if this is something that doesn't show up to others when you are talking to them face to face.
Yeah like I would have to be in the right light to see them, none of them are like deep deep scars..more like I can see the shading and shadows of them, know what I mean? If it's a sunny day they look a bit like rolling scars tho I haven't left my room all summer apart from the gym at night because of them..

I'm honestly scared to leave the house because of the sun possibly making my marks worse.. I only go to the gym even with that I go at night. I'm literally so depressed right now and just wish I could go back 3 months ago when my skin was clear af!! I haven't even got a haircut in 3 months because I don't want to see my reflection in the mirror.. I go to sleep at like 6am because the night is the only time I feel comfortable and I wake up at like 4pm..AND THEN THERE'S THESE FUCKING RANDOM SCARS!!!
A guy called Lamar on here had a thread on here. Here is what he messaged me a year ago :
When you say spontaneous scars, do you mean like in AMVC? as in scarringWITHOUT any acne causing it? if so make sure you aren't taking loads of omega3 (usually fish oils or flaxseed are theculprit!)
Dr Chu is good yes and tbh I don't think there is anyone better for acne scarring as far as I'm aware!
I had a thread onacne.orgcalled 'ok guys' or something along those lines, details what I did for my scarring and lots of people have done the same since with good results, all the info you need is within that thread so check it out!
Good luck man and stay consistent with things you can slowly chip away at them!
I've got the same problem! I have been on Accutane for 5 months (60mg per day). And nowskin has a bad the orange peel texture, enlarged pores all over my face ( I didn't have open pores before) and a lot of tiny scares. Also my acne hasn't improved. It looks much worse actually. I look like an old lady whereas I had pretty skin before treatment (I had just a few pimples because of hormone imbalance I think).
I've got 2 ideas:
1) Maybe our skins look like that because they are just dehydrated? I hope it is not pernament.
2) Is it possible that either Accutane or Retin-A causesrosacea disease? Because we all haverosacea symptoms, including red and irritated skin.
Sorry for the late replies everyone, was away with no Internet. I'll reply to everyone when I'm home but just checking in to show everyone my skin..
I think I'm on the brink of suicide.. pigmentation is one thing but FUCKING INDENTED DISGUSTING LOOKING SCARS I can't deal with.. I had perfect skin just 2 months ago and now my face looks like I have leprosy.. I can't get scar treatment because I'm still getting spots and low dose accutane that DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING AT ALL BUT GIVE ME DRY LIPS!!!! I can't live like this indoors all the time living day to day hiding from the rest of the world.. I'm pushing all my friends away and I just can't deal with this.
Omg!! I have the same scars and I don't even have any acne!! and they just keep popping up, they are so weirdly shaped all the time. Idk if it is because I use to take a lot of antibiotics or maybe birth control? But please if you found out why that was happening to u, let me know!! Thanks!!
I had a similar problem and after a year I finally did a skin biopsy. It showed I had demodex mites and nothing else. I have tried a lot of things to eliminate these, including ivermectin pills and the only thing that helps (but not resolve the problem completely) is accutane at high doses. I have tried to stop it a few times but the condition becomes worse in no time. I still get random scars in new areas every time, but are not the superficial-icepick-lines type that bothers me the most, but more of the diffuse-deep rolling type.
1) Stay away from GMO foods, these are DNA altering and is designed to kill not heal, research, also watch the Documentary called "The Seeds Of Death" then you will see what has been spoon fed to us is a lie, its not for our health but for those higher up who seek control and profit.
2) Try to eat more wholesome foods, home cooked meals and snacks, so you feel less tempted to buy on the go fake foods, which is only highly processed, refined, chemically laden dead nutrition.
3) Replace chemical products from green/natural items, from laundry detergents to skincare, the list goes on, this will do your skin and immune system a world of good, not just that you will start feeling better, the mind wont be so burdened with an overload of toxicity. keep persisting and you will notice changes in your skin as time goes on, remember, it has taken years for your health to deteriorate so dont expect things will change instantly, but be patient and you will see results in all the things you start applying to your life.
4) Start learning how to heal your gut, there is many articles that teach you how to introduce traditional foods back into your diet, that help heal and restore your gut lining, this is the key to eventually healing your skin. Check out Dr Daniel Pompa, Dr Josh Axe, Dr Perricone, Dr Eric Berg, so many awesome well rounded Doctors on Youtube and online in general that can educate you on how to get healthy and how to boost your immune system and heal your gut, plus they have advise on array of other issues as well.
5) Replace your grain fed meats, to organic, free range or pasture raised, this will help your body to gain the nutrient it needs without the added chemicals, hormones, steroids and medications that they force on our animals, then what happens to our system when we then consume the meats with these un-necessary toxins?
6) Filter you water, buy a Brita Jug if that is all you can afford, they are not bad actually 🙂
7) Exercise, at least get 3 to 5 days a week of walking or light cardio or do some burst training.

I am still finding scars pop up, and Im about 8 months in with my health overhaul, I have seen my skin and health get worse before it got better, I was also breaking out in acne, however the good sign was my body was finally detoxifying, it just so happened it had to come out of my skin first, this lasted on and off for 6 months, now my skin is smooth, I still have the occassional pimple, but something inside has shifted and its showing on the outside, however, I do still see some fine marks appearing, and I can only say, that my journey with my health is still not over, my body is still fighting for healing, you can not fix a damaged gut within weeks, it can take months or years, but with each progress your skin will also show signs of healing, some pigmentation has faded, there is some areas I see healing, but Im not fully there yet, do not get discouraged, keep fighting your way to good health and your skin will eventually reward you.

Our Gut/Liver can not work fast enough to eliminate all the toxins/Chemicals our bodies are consuming on daily basis. We are also not consuming well nourished foods as our ancestors did, everything is quick, processed or foods that have been altered, giving us nothing more than dead nutrition, we need to go back to basics, start taking out the chemicals out of your homes first, this is a great place to start and replace everything that is of commercial product to natural/green alternatives, even down to your skin care which is loaded with cancer causing agents, making these changes along the way will help take a HUGE toxic load off your immune system, and allow it to build itself up and allow the body to start healing and expelling these destructive chemicals through the liver, when your body stops detoxifying itself properly, this is where illnesses and all sorts of health issues arise, these chemicals are not only affecting our skin but is altering our DNA, corrupting our hormones, and destroying our gut which is where health and healing begins, think about it, your skin is the largest organ in your body, what is not right inside is going to "scream" to you on the outside that something terribly wrong is with your system "inside". The body is an amazing tool, it speaks to us when we ignore all the signs of things that are not balanced from within, if it goes years unchecked and we still dont heed to the warning signs, it will expose its sickness to us from the outside, and unfortuantely that seems to be the only time we take notice. So these are the manifestations of your health deteriorating, but now manifesting itself outwardly, from acne, wrinkles, dint and dents, discoloration etc...... great way for us to pre-maturely age and scar because we are neglecting our health. We need to stop focusing on the skin, and look within to what is truly the underlining cause, be proactive in saving your health first, then your body will work in harmony and go to heal the outside once the inside has been restored, this can take time, but making changes now will get easier to transition and make a permanent way to live a healthier lifestyle and see the fruits of it there of.

Great post! Very informative and quite accurate. I discovered all of the above while working with a naturopath. Keeping your skin healthy takes a multi-pronged approach-- diet/nutrition/gut health is first and foremost. But it is often overlooked, and people turn to skin creams and cosmetic products. My skin is glowing from the inside out now that I've addressed my internal issues. I hope the people on this thread that are experiencing spontaneous scarring use the above information. And I really hope it helps them. I cannot imagine the frustration they must be feeling especially since they aren't getting answers. Knowing you can help yourself is very freeing. Taking charge of your health and feeling in control of it can be quite empowering.
I was wondering if anyone has any updates. I recently had some mysterious scarring, and I'm freaking out! I took accutane 7 years ago for 4 months and I've also been experiencing symptom similar to of an autoimmune disorder but all test have come back negative. Please let me know if anyone has any advice or has had success slowing the scarin down. Thank you!

Hey Eioo, how is your skin going thus far? It can be quite frightening when this happens, not knowing where to begin, i posted on another thread, about how you can overcome this, as i am also on the road to recovery myself, this is a histamine issue, here is a link about histamine overload: http://c7c.37f.myftpupload.com/reacting-to-everything-this-could-be-why/ which is caused from a compromised immune system, unfortauntely when the body is this out of balance and unable to cope, it can actually attack the skin cells/connective tissue, which in turn results in these random scarring. Dont try doing anything aggressive with your skin yet, its very fragile in this period of time, what you want to do is calm your system down, this can take time, but be patient. When your body is a bit more stable you can look into alternative skin solutions, you need to target the root problem, so then once your immune system is strong enough it can cope with some mild Derma rolling and or microdermabrasion etc.
Here is the link to my post about healing the immune system, there is alot to go into, so this should be a good starting point. Also look into Pyrrole disorder, here is a link: http://www.vitalityandwellness.com.au/pyrrole-disorder
i believe this is all related, those that are producing high levels of histamine most likely have a pyrrole disorder as well, so some vit deficencies could be what is causing the unbalance. The rabbit hole goes deeper though, so to not overwhelm you, just focus on healing and restoring the gut integrity, esp when on heavy medications, or drugs for long periods of time, this can compromise the gut lining, this can happen to anyone, so its important to heal the gut, this takes time. Here is my previous post:

Ps: some tests will come back negative, I have done the rounds for the past year from DR to DR, tests to tests to work out what i have, everything was coming back negative, I had to do my own research and educate myself, as you can not trust the system to care for you, sad days we live in. It turned out when i found a Doctor (who also is an integrated practioner, Bonus!!) who specialises in mast cell activation, he was able to request the right tests, which showed up that i had high levels of histamine in my blood stream (He requested a full Histamine Blood test), found I had copper overload, so there is some heavy metal toxicity showing up, also another test shows that i have pyrrole disorder (this is a test done through urine only, called Kryptypyrrole), no wonder my immune system is so disfunctional, However, I will be seeing him soon, through what i have compiled, I also believe it could be all connected to Lyme or morgallons disease. I believe this all can be reversed, you just have to be dedicated to make a whole lifestyle change, through diet, eliminating certain foods and chemicals from your home, exercise etc... See if you can find a reputable functional medicine doctor, that can help you with your unique issue, sometimes it can be a hit or miss there as well.
If you live in USA, you can find a range of Doctors that have worked with or have studied under Dr Bill Walsh's Institute, for those that live in other countries there are several doctors listed there too. These Doctors have a better understanding of autoimmunity regarding mast cells, histamine Intolerance, pyrrole disorders etc etc.... this is probably the roote I would have gone, had I known this alot earlier, lots of time and money waisted, but the information I have incurred has been invaluable. http://www.walshinstitute.org/

I just wanted to report back after so many years that vitamin D2 has been an enormous help, if not the cure.
I suspected a deficiency (low lab levels) but D3 form never helped (took D3 form for 15yrs).
I finally decided to try the old fashioned and hard to find Vitamin D2 and feel I have found my answer. I now I no longer have to consume calcium supplements to keep my skin strong. I do however have to consume greens such as kale, spinach and chard otherwise my teeth start to hurt (I suspect vitamin K is involved here).
D2 lowers my magnesium considerably (various symptoms) so I have to take a magnesium supplement twice a day (too much at the same time and it causes loss of magnesium with loose stools).
I still can not consume large quanties of omega 3( dries out and thins my skin), but I no longer require large quantities of omega 6.
D2 plus magnesium seems to have reduced 15yr old icepick scars about 30% in three months. First few months skin turnover was quick and I had some flaky skin plus few whiteheads that were different from my normal acne. Now my skin sloughs differently (normally!) and seems to renew from the bottom layers. I also no longer have dry heels or scalp build up/dandruff. Pores have reduced to nothing and texture is finally pretty! Nails are super hard and grow quickly. Lips dont peel anymore. Skin is normal skin tone instead of inflammed red. Oil has reduced 90% but now I have a healthy glow.
Gut issues have improved as well.
D3 (lanolin form-99% of d3 supplements on the market, even the 'dry forms') breaks me out with oily waxy skin and scalp (lanolin is a wax) with huge, deep blackheads.
Discovered that citrus and tomatoes were cause of my cystic acne so perhaps vitamin D deficiency is involved with citrus allergy/acne. (?)
Both my child and I have same reactions from D2 and D3 on our skin, scalp, heels so I suspect a genetic component. Since D3 also does not work for my child Im worried about the phasing out of D2 supplements in preference for D3 form which is considered the more 'active' form of vitamin D in scientific literature.
Hope this helps. =)
Would love to hear any feed back if you try D2. I could tell within a week that my skin was different and that I needed to stop taking my calcium. I also started dreaming more vividly during this time as well.
To Finding Health..
My childs food allergies have been clearing up since taking D2.. I believe vitamin D lowers histamine and decreases allergies as well. Vitamin D is very involved in immune system.
