I just red here the quotes and decided to sign up here. Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Poland
I also noticed spontaneous scarring 4 months ago. I didn't take accutane or retina or any other supplement and never had acne.
Enclosed a picture of my scarring on your cheek. It really looks like there are skin layers missing.
Two years ago I went to a naturopath which said that I am allergic against a lot of foods.. but I don't took it serious so I don't care about my nutrition.
I really think our issue here have to do something with the gut (leaky gut). Because of the perforations in the gut indigrients of our diet leave the gut which develops these scarring (autoimmune disorder)
Also nutrients can't be recorded because if this.
It is really annoying and depressing and I am noticing new scars that I think healing the gut is the clue.

Hi Spike, your correct to realise this is an Autoimmune condition, there is also a thing called "cross infection", your body is trying to deal with bacteria, viruses, fungus etc.... but without a strong immune system we are faced with all finds of manifestations of inflammation.
Your body needs to detoxify (becareful not to detox too quickly either), feed yourself the right minerals/Vitamins, build good bacteria for your gut flora to flourish, eat more organic/natural foods, go gluten free, wheat today is destroying our gut lining, its been genetically altered, causing tares, this is why autoimmunity is on the rise, ditch commercial dairy unless its the Raw kind, remove as many toxins out of your home/skincare, and change to grass fed, pasture raised meats. You can check out my comment above regarding lifestyle changes.
I hope to come back to update further, December is a crazy time for everyone.........
Just note, that sometimes despite you making efforts to your diet etc.... you can still flare up in your skin, our cells go through cycles, dont let this discourage you, it will get better, i just recently witnessed small areas of my skin caving in (shallow indentation, and some loss of fat Volume) and more scars appearing, which really confused and scared me, but after a few days, these same "new" scars/inflammation that had appeared had bounced back to its original state, I wasnt expecting such a quick miracle (in days), it also confirms that my body is healing and detoxifying again and fighting off infections. This is a journey, but once you start to look after your health, your body will reward you, and Im finally seeing the fruits of it. I believe being pro-active and for me praying for healing has been a huge miracle to me, considering my circumstances, Ive actually noticed Im healing at an incredibly fast rate compared to others I know who have autoimmunity.
Your on the right track Spike, if you can find a really good Naturopath that deals with cross infection/leaky gut etc... it will really help you jump start your journey. God bless 🙂
Hi everyone,
I have never used retinol nor accutane, but was on benzol peroxide for about 5 years.
I recently exfoliated my face harsh twice ( a week apart), and then I started to see random scarring.
Like most of people here, I freaked out and went to see a doctor and a dermatologist but they did not have an answer for me.
I have done lots of blood tests in the end and it showed that I have slightly lower white blood cell counts/low iron/suspected hyperthyroidism. Other than that, I was fine.
At first, I also thought this was immune related, but I cannot find any symptoms in other parts of my body but face.
Also, people who have suffered AMVC years ago have not claimed any auto-immune disease until now.
I was just wondering.. did anyone here start to see random scarring after they exfoliated their face?
I feel like over-exfoliating my face have caused this (on skin treated with benzol peroxide for years), but of course, I need more evidence to prove this.
Please let me know and we will find a solution together.
Hey everyone. I had the same exact thing happen to me. I was on accurate as a teenager and now I'm 27. Out of nowhere I got indented scars all over my cheeks without any acne to cause it. My derm dismissed me and said it's large pores because of aging. I'm so glad other people have gone through this because at times I feel crazy! Microneedling may be an option too, but yeah it seems a bit cruel and unfair especially when most people don't go through things like this. Love to anyone going through skin issues, it's truly horrible
On another note, I've found it helpful to try and turn my mind off. Life isn't fair and things happen for no reason. I'm a nurse and I work with kids who are less than a year old and get diagnosed with terminal cancer. There 's always ALWAYS things to be thankful for and your skin imperfections aren't the end of your life. I know it can be hard TRUST ME but trying to throw yourself into a hobby or passion helps. And knowing that who you are on the inside is the most important thing. People who really love you will love you no matter what, scars and all. I also have decided to cut all harsh treatments and stick to raw honey, rosewater and hemp oil. I also take fermented cod liver oil, zinc, vitamin c, l-lyseine, and probiotics daily. I cut out dairy and drink tons of water and green tea. Your body cannot heal without the right environment. Coffee is still my one vice 🙂
I too have this problem from last 1 n half year..in past i had acne..but the areas where i never ever had any acne there i notice these scars like in middle of my forehead..i dont take any fish oil..neithr any other supplements..want to know the reason for this atleast..its very upseting when u dont have any clue n suddenly u see anothr scar appering on ur face..if anyone knows anything i can do for these scars..then plz help

I think its becoz of benzol peroxide..i too use the same and i too have now got the prblm
Can someone PLEASE explain why they think OMEGA 3 causes this? I have some shallow indents after accutane but I think thats because 1. You cant see scars with active inflamtion/acne, and 2. Scars are more visible with dry skin. However, I am baffled at how Omega 3 can cause this. I really need to know why. I have been doing research and found NOTHING on this besides THIS thread. No studies, nothing. Is the whole thing an idea perpetuated by "lammar." Did one dude just say something random and it snow balled? Omega 3 fish oil is not the same as cod liver oil which has vitamin A. So i simply want an answer to WHY fish oil does this and MEDICAL PROOF.....Is this honestly any more then a guy with about 2500 posts on this website (hypochondriac) simply just saying something? Jesus Christ. Also, Im pretty sure this problem is considered VERY rare..... as in like 100 cases world wide....... can a rationale human being please explain this to me
I'm shocked more of you aren't considering your diet..I can't tell you enough how our lack of nutrition will cause skin problems (I am a licensed esthetician) wheat / bread is horrible for you, alters DNA and actually makes you unable to absorb other nutrients from other food..it's a lot more to it, but consided dropping fake chemical processed foods and eat only Whole Foods - real foods - ditch refined anything!! The body let's you know that it's lacking important nutrients to thrive by coming up as skin problems / body pain in many sorts (headaches , stomach aches, cosntipation diarreaha etc etc) consider parasite cleanses, colon hydrotherapy flushes, fasting , liver kidney etc cleanses ..we are all so pollutedfrom environmental toxins ..if everyone started making connections of what we put into our body has a very very important role to 90% of ailments..good luck (ps starting to seeAtrophia Maculosa Varioliformis Cutis a lot more in young children bc lack of nutrition and it's heart breaking ) let thy food be medicine . Also anything we put ON our skin is absorbed within 30-60 seconds...ditch all the chemicals via makeup soap etc ..it's so coincidence we have more hospitals on every corner ..along with fast food chains ..

What happened to scarring
Goto the dermatologist please, these posters have not been back in months. This is the best person who can help you. I would post in the normal acne sub or if this is to do with Accutane / Retin A the prescription medication sub forum as they are the best to deal with it and others are taking the medication. You can also ask this question on realself.com for doctors to answer.

Dear SollySolly -
1st) Please do not go and do something like this to yourself, you will get through this, most of us have gone through it and are recovering from the scarring, it is all immune related, when your immune system is compromised, mast cellsarereleased in some cases in excessive amounts, which cancause havoc on our system, this is just a side effect of what is happening on a deeper level, we are then forced to look within, and realize there is a deeper issue that needs fixing, you need to start rebuilding your gut/immune system, in time, this will balance itself out, don't stress about it too much, as it raises cortisol levels, which then causes another cycle of scarring as it attacks your skin,we have all learned to relax a bit more and look in the mirror a bit less while we are going through the healing process, you will get through this. You need to ride the storm, you are obviously pro-active to be seeking answers and have gotten this far to find sites like this with real testimonies of abnormal scarring, this means, you have the ability to keep seeking, applying what you have learnt from others, and do some research along the way.
2nd) When in this frame of mind (I know I'm going to sound preachy here), but reach out to Jesus for help, he will shield you from these suicidal thoughts, his the best Savior!! I have a testimony, and I should of ended up inER by now, but I had several anaphylaxisattacks, and prayer really did work, was a miracle!!!
3rd) Remember diet is key to rebuilding immune system, then use some mild active skincare products that will help activate good skin cells and slough away the dead cells, go slow and use mild skincare as your skin is still re-active and sensitive atm. What I did find worked super fast was borage oil (better than primrose oil), I would apply it topically day and night, within a month, I noticed an improvement in my scarring, some areas are non existent now, and some still need a bit more time, however, its evident that healing is taking place. Be patient, be kind to yourself, don't stress, have a good healthy diet, and apply some skincare that will help speed uprecovery time.
Also taking borage and primrose oil internally is indeed very effective, it helps fight against inflammation. Atm, I'm only taking one primrose oil a day, I also use borage oil, Iprick the end of the borage oil capsule, and apply that on my skin as another way for my body to supplement (as it goes straight into the blood stream), and the side effect of that is also good strong, healing skin.I only use half of that capsule per day.
4th) I don't believe Retina-A or lasers is what is scarring the skin, I have had both lasers and Retin-A's (peels) in the past, and believe me it was not using these tools thatcaused the problem I have with my skin today. If anyone is using these methods and are scarring from it soon after, this is a sign your immune system is severely compromised and can not heal like it would if it was in peek condition. I had to recentlystop electrolysis while I'm in the healing stages, because my immune system can not heal my skinproperly after having this treatment, and therefore causing scars to form becausemy skin can not heallike it used to when I had a healthy immune system, I never scarred once with electrolysis in the past, its only now that my immune system is compromised, so I need to wait a little while longer in my healing journey to try again for hair reduction treatments.
Accutane though probably does have a role to play in a compromised immune system, any kind of pills/drugs do destroy the gut lining, and 70% of our immune system lies in our gut. However you can rebuild and restore damages done to the body, the body has an amazing way to heal, if we give it what it needs to start its healing.
I hope this helps? I know you will be ok, once we get over the anxiety of what is happening and start to apply changes into our lives, you will become empowered and you will see results in healing.
Hi JohnSmith21:
Sorry for some reason I cant tag you guys individually, so I will need to reply to some comments individually. Look into Pyrrole disorder (also related to mast cells), another key to a compromised immune system, majority of the population has it and its not been brought to light because Pharma can not profit from this, as the main issue isvitamin deficiencies, plus rebuilding of the gut lining (leaky gut), leaky gut causesvitaminsto leach out of the body. You will find those thatdo bring Pyrrole awareness to light, will also mention GLA (borage and primrose oil) also being an important nutrient the body needs, also with pyrrole you need to stay away from fish oil, an unbalance of omega's candistruptthe body when the ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 is out of wack. Get some healthy omega 6's in your diet and keep away from the bad ones that are in our conventional foods. You can still get omega 3's from certain foods, just maybe avoid fish oil at this point, besides most fish oil is either got high quantities of mercury in it, or possibly radiation, depending where they are fished from, or some fish oils come fromfarmed fish, which is really bad for you, because of thehigh contents of GMO that are in the fish (from grains they feeds them), if the oil is not pure, it does change the chemical structure of the oil, which then can harm us as well. Its really difficult to find a pure quality oil, and if you do, your best to avoid it for now and just heal your immune system with other omega 3's that are found in various vegetables. Just my opinion and from my journey in rebuilding a healthy immune system.
Ps: Also a few other vitamins that are key for a healthy immune system is Magnesium, Zinc, B6, GLA, are a great start, which is also the key vitamins most pyrrole sufferers are lacking in. I would try to find a nutritionist who knows about leaky gut and pyrrole to better guide you, incase you are on other medication or taking other supplements, if you do use these vitamins, make sure you start of with small doses and work your way up to the full dose, you can not just getany zinc or b6 supplements, they need to be specific kinds that help absorption.
31 minutes ago, Sollysolly said:Findind health .. thank you for your support but unfortunately it cant be true as cancer patients and hiv ones have a mich more immune compromised body and they do not experience any scarring .. can you tell me your experience
This is not true. HIV patients get sick with all sorts of things, including facial wasting (below) which is much worse than acne scars. He used filler to correct the issue. Scars can also occur from nutrition, auto immune, smoking, drinking, other health issues, family history, stress,, and hormone imbalances. Bacteria can make acne like scars. Look at the below it's from Staph. Acne scars while they are bad , are not as bad as many people have it. I suggest you see a therapist. There is a smartphone app called Talkspace which you can do from home or see someone face to face. Often acne scar surfers have unrealistic expectations (I am many others have had this) part of our healing is through therapy. You can get cheaper therapy at colleges as well, even if you don't goto one. If people in wheel chairs and all sorts of things can live life, so can we. It is the media and Movie Stars that make us buy into the perfection and fake photoshop for small things that seem life altering.
SollySolly.............. BeautifulAmbition is pretty spot on, some of us could be battling with nutritional issues, Alcohol, medications, toxins, bacteria and viruses (some of us don't even know we have them), which can way heavily on our immune system. However all is not lost, we can rebuild and heal again and the body does have an amazing way in restoring itself, time and consistency is the key. As BeutifulAmbition mentioned, even those that Have HIV will have there own battles to face, everyone's body will react differently to the next person, but not all HIV sufferers have facial wasting either, and some have it very severer, however like any illness or disease, what you may expereince in an area that bothers you, someone else will expereince a different type of battle that you are not facing, for instance, those thatare diabetic, in some caseslimbs have to be amputated, so its important that we don't compare ourselves to others as we are fairly lucky not to experience something of that severity,That's why in a bizarre way, these symptoms we are seeing outwardly, are a blessing, it helps us to see what ishappening inwardly, we can take those signs, and be proactive, in changing our way of eating and lifestyle, and in return our bodies will reward us by
beginning to heal. And yes there are some cases that are so extreme, most would think its irreversible, such as those carrying HIV, that have actually beenhealed completely from their disease, there is a few testimonies I have come across that have extraordinary stories, just depends on howserious we are in healing ourselves, bysupplying the right foods and supplements our body needs to rebuild itself and fight off diseases.
As for my journey, I believe I'm dealing with Lyme disease, leaky gut (both also linked to Pyrrole Disorder), usually leaky gut is what causes other diseasesto manifest. But I'm on the journey to recovery, and time and consistency has been the key to healing. I believe I had Pyrrole for most of my life, not treated with the right diet, plus my eating habits where not good in general which didn't help the cause, eventually this caused more problems (followed by leaky gut), which then lead to lyme diseaseto finally come out in full force. Looking back now, had I changed my lifestyle and eating habits, I don't think it my health would have gotten this bad, but I believe everything happens for a reason, and now I'm more passionate about what to eat and avoid andlearning to rebuild my body and teach others. We also need to be aware that some foods that appear healthy, such as GMO foods, can actually be DNA changing, causing majordisruption in the body/immune system, so I'm keen now to remove myself from man made poisons, it takes some research to filter through the lies we have been conditioned to hearing, and finding how to avoid such poisons in our pachaged foods or when shopping from fresh produce. I added my thoughtson this a few pages back. When you get time, do go through everyones story and input on what helped them and what they researched, and do some research along the way too, a lot of the pieces of the puzzle will start to fall into place, and you can then see what works for you, apply some of these tips and add your own twist to it, you may go through trials and errors, thats ok, its part of the journey your on, our bodies are all different, but the main key would behealth and lifestyle changes, thats a verygood place tobegin 🙂 hope that helps
Hello! I think I have the same thing and everything started after 3 mild chemical peels (1xmonth) and a microdermabrasion session.. I started noticing big pores out of nowhere.. I started getting more acne because of the stress and anxiety so every dermatologist see my face as an acne problem.. but the thin lines, holes and pores connecting into lines are in places where acne never existed.. and really out of nowhere.. everything is on my cheeks.. the new scarring looks like if I scratched with my nail.. thin lines.. has anyone here found a solution? I'm eating well, taking supplements, using mild cleanser, niacinamide solution and moisturizer.. my problem is I'm still dealing with mild acne, post acne red spots and holes/scarring in face and I think anything at exfoliates make it worst..
@MARYPDZStop all exfoliants, all acids, peels, scrubs, everything. The only thing you should be doing is restoring the skin. Goto a derm, have them do superficial HA injections called skin boosters. No lasers, you can put on anything natural and mosturizing that does not break you out. Vitamin C serum is a antioxidant. Use more antioxidants.
I want you to go get collegen supplements, and eat lots of meat / protein and healthy fats/
Please make a account and post here about your issue https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction they are really good at skincare and topicals
This has been happening To me for years mostly the result of light peels or exfoliation. A derm first dismissed it over a decade ago. You would think I would have learned my lesson...I always go back to these light peels because at first they make my skin look great. It's when I do too many close together that I have an issue. My skin texture definitely gets worse, pores open and I get spontaneous scars. The good news is they seem to spontaneously go away and well but exfoliation can make them come back.
I've been getting spontaneous scarring (looks like fingernail indented prints) on my forehead during around my 4th month of Accutane until now. I just took my last pill (5th month) last night. I had just one very noticeable line for awhile and then one morning recently I woke up with 2-3 more. I'm lost.
