I really don't know anything about dermarolling or needling. Is there any simple step by step guides out there to get my started? I am at square one.
hey, i thinkthey are a few videos out there on youtube by a german source that actually explains on a step by step basis....but i would suggest also reading the whole derma rolling thread...because i think with the experiences of all the members...it opens your mind to getting the best outta yr treatemnt! cheers.
REBEL
I rolled for the first time today on my cheeks with a 1.5mm roller. It stung and there were a few small needleholes that let out some blood but other than that I just turned red. So I wonder if I perhaps didn't put enough pressure on it? How hard are you supposed to roll? Should the whole area bleed?
I just used my 1.5mm dermastamp for the first time. Two hours before the stamping I put Vitamin A+C cream with aloe vera on my face. Just before the stamping I cleaned my face. You can't believe how my heart was pumping, but as I started the stamping I noticed it didn't hurt at all. A minimal amount of bleeding. After the stamping I applied Vitamin C serum with L-Ascorbic acid on my face and my face turned very red. I took some pics of my scars before the session and will take some pics later.
I've dermarolled a few times since June with a 1.5 Dermaroller. I disinfect it and my skin with Povidone iodine. Iodine is the only thing I trust to really sanitize the roller-and I soak the business end of the roller in it inside a small cup for an hour before I roll. I use EMLA before hand and roll pretty aggressively.
I have a few shallow, rolling scars on my left check and one on my right. I'd say overall, my scars are only like 20% better than before I dermarolled-but I think they may improve more as I continue to build collagen.
But my pores are looking tighter and smaller and my skintone in general is alot better, more glowing and healthy looking. If I had to quantify it, I'd say my overall skintone is probably like 50% better.
Sarah Vaughter's website [removed] is a good place to get dermarolling supplies. I didn't get my roller there, but I will be getting my next one from her. I have bought single needles and vit c crystals from her and was very satisfied.
i don't want to sound like a downer or a pessimist but i tried it for over a year on different parts of my body from acne scars, surgical scars, ugly scars, stretch marks...i did it in different degrees from redness to a bloody mess, from the orthodox and unorthodox...after the redness and swelling is gone it looks good but in the long run it looks like the way it used to be.
Here is my dermaroller routine:
Items:
DTS 1.5mm Dermaroller (with 500 needles )
Betadine (Disinfect)
Spray Saline Solution (Disinfect)
EMLA cream
Witch Hazel
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser
Homemade Vitamin C Serum
Steps:
1. Wipe away dirt and crap from face with Witch Hazel.
2. Wash face with Cetaphil Cleanser
3. Benandine all over face
4. Wipe away Benandine with Spray Saline Solution
5. Apply Generous amounts of EMLA cream over rolling area (THen I cover the face with a plastic wrap)
6. Wait 45mins - 1 hour and then remove EMLA residue with Spray Saline Solution.
7. Allow skin to dry a bit then apply the Vitamin C serum or Copper Peptides
8. Start rolling ( I bleed alot on the forehead )
9. Clean whole face with Spray Saline SOlution.
10. Wait for skin to dry a bit, then apply more Vitamin C Serum.
11. Don't apply moisturizer yet, it might interfere with the Topical.
12. I drink lots of lime and ornage juice, and take about 3 concentrated Omega 3 FIsh Oils a day. Also drink lots of water and rest alot. Stay the hell out of the sun for the first 3 days.
That is sorta my routine which I try to do every 1.5 months. Hope this is helpful to someone and if there are any advice or changes i should make be more welcome to share. thanks
So can anyone provide some links as to where I can buy one of these. Might aswell give it a shot, nothing too drastic. Like a beginners set would do. Just to check it out.
Would be nice if someone made a decent FAQ/Guide about all of this. The first post doesn't really help at all.
I guess something like this seems alright:
Derma Roller Treat Scars Wrinkles
FYI I'm not on anything special. Just using BP and over-the-counter cleansers which seems to be doing a good enough job holding the Acne back, just the damn scars/red marks that never seem to go away.

Same here, I've dermarolled several times, with a 1.5mm roller, I too have tried both light and aggressive rolling, I have not seen any substantial improvement. I don't particularly suggest this method if your aim is to improve deep acne scars.
Hello!
So I am a bit confused on how to use this properly. I was planning on following this regime and could you guys please tell me if this is how it is done?
1) wash face
2) apply CP
3) needle certain areas
4) dermaroll
5) wash face
6) reapply CP
so here comes the questions..
> Do I wash the CP off after the 2nd application?
> How often am I supposed to apply the CP? Daily? Weekly? Monthly?
> Am I supposed to single-needle before the dermaroll? Or am I supposed to single-needle a few weeks after dermaroll? If it is after, wouldn't it affect the newly forming collagen from the dermaroll?
Thank you very much for your help!

I know where to buy the good derma roller, well how can i contact you here?
hi,
You can buy a roller on ebay, just make sure you get medical grade surgical steel......
I bought a 1.0 roller and a 1.5 roller. I have started with the 1.0 roller first and have only used it twice 1 week apart....The first time i barely pushed at all and got zero blood......the second time I was a bit more comfortable with it and pushed a bit harder and got a bit more blood....after the second round my face was bright red and i immediately applied retin-A micro all over my face, the next day there was no redness and i actually can see a positive results, my overall skin appearance looks smoother, maybe it is the micro swelling but whatever i will take it...i will roll again in another week and push even harder and apply vitamin c serum after i think, and the next week after that i will use copper peptides...I dont think i will ever push really hard with the roller and generate a lot of blood, i would rather press lightly and just do it more often, in my opinion you dont need blood to get results. I think the reason dr's are pushing so hard is because it would not be cost effective for people to be coming into the office every week for a light roll. I think derma rolling is cumulative and prolonged lighter rolling can give results. One note to make is that my scarring is not very deep and I havn't seen obvious results on my cheeks where i have some slight rolling scarring, and a pinprick on the bridge of my nose actually appears a little larger but i think that is only temporary, my skin in general just looks a little better the day after the roll, maybe its because the retin A was absorbed more fully because i applied it immediately after the roll, even if dermarolling alone doesn't help scarring but coupled with topicals it is going to help them work better. and i am going to continue rolling once per week, once my face has grown accustomed to it i will move to the 1.5 roller and who knows maybe push harder, I guess it all depends on what you feel comfortable with...I dont use any numbing cream and i find the roll quite invigorating. today when i applied bp it burned a little more than normal, i think its because i rolled last night and am a little more sensitive, i think its time for a day off tomorrow, just moisturizer and some vitamin c serum, my dermatologist told me you can just buy some ascorbic acid from a health food store and mix it in a spray bottle with water and just spritz your face with it. Anyways thats it for my long post, maybe i'll call it my journal entry..lol...
Hey guys, I'm kinda new here, although i've been reading alot of the threads here to see what could help me with some scarring but i've only just now become a member. The only reason i'm a member now is because i've found a combination that has worked for me and im hoping it can work for u guys too. I've been using the dermaroller (1.5) pretty aggressively and then applying trilastin stretchmark cream right after. For some strange reason, the trilastin never worked for my stretch marks but it's realllllly helped with the scars. A couple of years ago, i tried the dermaroller with no cream or serum and it didnt give me any results but the trilastin has helped alot. Just wanted to let you guys know. Let me know if you have any questions

This is Claisen response to someone else's post re: I really wonder why there is NO recommedation of needling/dermaroller to treat acne scars in many official international medical sites..?
"...The scientific community (who is interested in verifiable truth, would give a rat's AS# about whether doctors make more from CIT or latest laser machines) have never validated the effectiveness of needling other than the one or two articles keep being rehashed by the needling companies and their advocates. I'm just saying if the people who keep posting 'scientific evidence' supporting needling spent a fraction of time researching other modality, they will find a more credible mountain of evidence that gives better results.
In the end, I would caution people not to believe any internet posting. Not even mine. Use it as a guideline and be sure to talk to as many professional as possible. A lot of misinformation are out there, it is up to you to sort out what is BEST for you. Some people would like to poison the well by suggesting that doctors have a vested interest in not introducing needling - well, that is such a convenient & self-serving argument. If I had to trust my face to the medical/scientific community or some unknown poster on the internet, I would pick the professional who spent 8 years of their lives understanding my skin any day of my life."

Your response is much appreciated. However, your assumption that most people who needling or are interested in needling havenat tried and if they tried other methods would see better results, is not founded. Iave been reading through the forums and have come across more forums and posts of people who HAVE tried almost everything under the sun offered by a dermatologist to correct acne scarring to no avail. Most people, including myself are attracted to the idea of dermarolling because all other methods and combination of methods have proved less successful or complete failures altogether. It is true that no all treatments will work for all skin types based on a variety of reasons (i.e. genetics, ethnicity, dermatologistsa abundance or lack of education, skill (techniques), and equipments/tools, or a boatload of other reasons). But the purpose of this site is to compare notes and contribute to what worked or failed. Giving as much information as possible to allow the reader to...
I donat understand why there isnat an overwhelming flow of data or evidence published by the medical community regarding dermaroll but I guess the same could be said about the various laser and phototherapy treatments that are now very popular among dermatologist that wasnt years ago.
Side note: I had a "punch" excision done on one deep ice pick scar. The idea is to carve out and around scar and pull out the meat/skin, then allow your body to take on its natural course of mending/bonding the skin and healing. Some doctor's use stitches to help keep the skin together depending on the size of the excision. This worked for one scar but I have many and do not plan on having a million holes cut out of my face that are 1 to 3mm wide. But when you think about this process (punch treatment) it makes sense. This treatment is very similar to the dermaroll but in a less dramatic way. The dermaroll creates very tiny punctures in the skin, promoting collagen production and also alerting the skin to take on this same mending/bonding effect to heal itself. ...just my thoughts.
I am African American and certain treatments arenat recommended for people of color. So all that I have tried was dermabrasion, pixel laser treatment (very low level), punch treatment, and very low level peels (again due to my skin color). So dermaroll is the next thing for me to try. I purchased my roller from New Spa via Amazon but have been doing more reading and research before I actuall use the device. Dermarolling is also available at a local (San Francisco, CA) doctor who allows an anesthesiologist to perform the treatment. I was told he is the only one (in the area) who can create great results because he administers anesthesia to his patients, allowing him to go really deep with the roller.
I got this from one of the links posted in the first post.
Innocent consumers are often the targets of ruthless copy pirates. These days more or less everything is forged a from a Rolex, car spare parts to medical devices, and unfortunately this applies also for the Dermarollera. Curious persons want to buy the ORIGINAL but also want to aoesave some moneya and once they have paid and received the order, it is too late and they are disappointed victims. No doubt, the Internet is a fantastic tool to obtain information, but it is also a platform for pirates. They even have no scruples to misuse protected Trademarks , may it be on their copy products or websites. They sell, abscond and the consumer holds the short end of the stick.
From our point of view to copy a medical device, offer it to the public on Internet platforms and to invite people for self-treatment is a crime. The copiers often claim their product is MADE in XXX, but matter of fact most originate from some backyard outlets. They also claim and imprint on their packing it is FDA approved or CE-marked. All this is totally wrong and actually a criminal act in the USA and European Countries.
aoeCan I use the FDA logo? The FDA logo should not be used to misrepresent the agency nor to suggest that FDA endorses any private organization, product, or service. Misuse of the FDA logo may violate federal law and subject those responsible to criminal penalties.a
They also claim their product is sterile a but have no validated proof. How can a consumer be sure that this copy was not used before and that it is not contaminated with a dangerous virus? a He or She simply canat. Even when listed with the FDA this does not mean the device is in accordance with the governmental regulations. Any medical device made or imported in the US must comply with the FDA regulations Part 820. If they donat they are considered as an adulteration.
We know it is very difficult for a layperson to figure out what is right and what is wrong. And in order to guide you to the ORIGINAL the GENUINE and to bring some light in this jungle, here are some useful hints how to differentiate the copy from the Original.
Never buy a Medical Device Class I or II (needle roller):
When the packing indicates that it is FDA approved or if it carries the FDA logo. If you are in doubt, contact the FDA. Ask the vendor to show you a copy of the approval.
When the packing has no CE-mark followed with a 4-diget number. This 4-diget number indicates the European Notified Body that approved the instrument as a medical device that can be freely traded and is in conformity with the European Regulations, Annex V. Ask the vendor to show such a Certificate of Conformity issued in the name of the manufacturer and where it is registered. If he canat, it is an illegal device or in many cases this CE-mark is forget.
When the packing carries the imprint GMP. This means Good Manufacturing Practice and is similar to the European ISO 13485 (International Organization of Standardization). Ask the vendor for the GMP Certificate issued in the name of the manufacturer. If you are in doubt ask the FDA.
When the packing indicates that the medical device is sterile and has needles longer than 0.3 mm and can be used several times. Copiers often say that their roller can be sterilized at home by submerging it in alcohol or other detergents. Donat do it! Alcohol is not a sterilizer, it only can disinfect to a certain extent, but an AIDS virus is not killed.
When you are invited to treat your self with a needle roller, especially when needles are longer than 0.2 mm. Such an invitation you often can read on the vendoras Internet site. Donat do it!
Needles, also those of a needle roller, are invasive instruments, and if they are not guaranteed sterile they will transport bacteria into the dermis. This can result in blood poisoning, massive infections with possible and permanent disfigurement of your skin. Therefore any needle roller with needles longer than 0.2 mm is a SINGLE USE DISPOSABLE instrument.
When you buy rollers from the Internet with needles longer than 1.5 mm you risk severe tissue damage, vessel and nerve rupture and nasty haematomas, and morea
Never apply a numbing cream outside a doctoras office on your skin. Numbing creams, especially those without GMP approval, can lead to a fatal anaphylactic shock.
Copy Pirates never produce any scientific evidence. Their aim is the quick Dollar and a fooled consumer. Copiers only imitate but without engineering knowledge. They often use third class steel, thick and dull needles, and hazardous materials. Donat get fooled, even these copies have an appealing lock.
LIABILITY. Please keep in mind one very important point: Copiers never hold a liability insurance for their device in case aoesomething happensa. No insurance company will underwrite a risk if the vendor or manufacturer is not GMP or ISO certified.
Donat be taken in by such trademark infringements spelled and written in various ways such as: dermarollers (with an aoesa at the end) derma-roller Dermaroller-planet Scientia Derma Roller MTS Roller Dr-roller and so on. These copiers hardly produce any scientific papers and often steel text and pictures from our website a sad but true.
We invented and patented the Dermaroller in the year 2000. It is a fantastic, simple and most effective instrument for skin improvement and acknowledged by physicians all over the world.
Except the Home Care Dermaroller with its harmless short needles of 0.2 mm, a Dermaroller, especially the medical version, belongs in the hands of a trained and licensed skin care professional. Only the professional has the knowledge of skin anatomy and knows when and how to use the Dermaroller. The treatment of acne scars or stretch marks is far less expensive than other ablative procedures. Please, contact a physician and never treat yourself! All medical Dermarollers are SINGLE USE DISPOSABLE instruments that must be disposed after use according to regulations!
Our Engineering Company Dermaroller S.a.r.l., based in Germany, manufactures the ORIGINAL, the GENUINE Dermaroller. We are the only company worldwide that produces the Dermaroller according to ISO 13485, the international standard for Medical Devices. (See our certificate of Conformity below). It was our company that has initiated many medical articles, case studies and findings in cooperation with various Universities, Clinics and Physicians worldwide. Because your skin is our concern and for many good reasons we never sell medical devices to laypersons, only to physicians via our international affiliated distributors.
If you love your skin and in case it should be treated to the better, look for professional help. And if you are in doubt or if you have a question weall always be strived to give you an honest answer.
Yours Sincerely
