I just rolled on my right cheek (I don't have any scars, just hyperpigmentation and such). No new scars from skin that (besides hyperpigmentation) is perfect :)

Hey,just wanted to let you know that you r not alone. The treason behind the fact that aesthetic surgeons/doctors dont post dermaroller on their website is because there is very mimnimal proof that it works. The theory that leads to the derma roller does not seem to be accepted by many doctors, however for us acne sufferers...we are willing to try just about anything. As for my case i have signed up for derma roller sessions with a medical doctor, and will be hoping that my scars will disappear/diminish within the next 5 months-otherwise i am just lost for hope and .....

hey rebel1992 thank you so much for that! i know the treatment u are going through cause i have read ur earlier post and i have replied it in case u didnt know =]

the treatment the derm suggested tome is so similar to yours but i go all the chemical peeling first and then the dermarolling. but i havent decided to do the dermarolling coz i do think i have indented or icepick scars instead and i read from here that its best for rolling and boxcar scarrings. i really dont know what my scars call. as like half of the scars i recieved is not related to acne.its becoz of me ...anyway long story..

and also the money whichis huge to people like us.. poor student .. so i totally felt what u are going thru too when i saw ur post

btw dermarolling is like a trend in korea and is quite successful thats why it get into hongkong, so at least there some proves and hopes out there!

anyway good luck with ur treatment! i hope u end up with prettier and healthy skin 😀 best wishes

Haha, yeah thanks.Guess we are in the same shoes.Well basically,i would suggest that you go for derma rolling if you believe it works regardless of the type of scars, because regardless of ice pick, boxcar or etc...the scars will appear smmother and not hideous. Moreover i would suggest doing it early,i have strong belief that when you are young your scars heal much faster because of (i dunnno,AGE!).For example,in my first derma roller,2mm,i felt the doc did a bit aggressively on my cheeks,i can feel with two layers of numbing cream already applied, people say it would take a few days for the redness to subside but for me ,less than 24 hrs.Though due to zealous rolling,i suffered a few scratches like marks,it went away in 1 week.

Well i think thats my advice to you.

ANd anyways good luck for your treatments and am happy to hear that it is a huge success in KOREA.Keep in touch.

Just a quick question, does dermarolling do anything to raised lighter coloured scars? I have one on the side of my nose which is slightly whiter then normal skin colour that I am considering rolling if I buy a roller.

I just performed my 2nd dermarolling session to my left cheek last night. Now this is probably due to the microswelling, but all of the scars I rolled over feel flat and smooth! Unfortunately the hyperpigmentation is still in it, but as far as texture goes, wow it looks and feels better. Again, I doubt it's going to last long but it's sure pretty cool too look at :D

I rolled more aggresively than last time.

Has anyone noticed shiny waxy skin, reminiscent of the old dermabrasion/full face laser waxy look?

I am about 2-3 weeks into my most recent derma rolling and my skin looks shiny and waxy.

looking better than it has in a long time.

Ive been on the acne.org regimen for years now to stay clear. Im wondering if I can have dermarolling done and still continue with the regimen in order to prevent breakouts?

Ive rolled twice. Once with 2.0mm and once with 2.5mm

Have you seen any results engineer?

How were the improvements for you,NA dfor your info,i am 17 and have done derma roller once 2.0mm,and the downtime was 1 day for me,but after 1 week(now),i dont see much improvement thoguh in the sense of scars. But will keep everyone updated.

Havent seen any noticeable results yet. Downtime for 2mm should be more than one day, you probably arent aggressive enough. I always bleed a lot and cant leave the house for at least 3 days.

Anyone know where I can get dermarolling done in Southern California? I just don't think I can do it myself. I've found American Medical Aesthetics, but I don't think they use the longer needles. If anyone has had this done in SoCal, I'd love to know where.

Thanks!

i have 1 raised scar and after 3 sessions of rolling it's gone down by about half.

amyelizabeth - rolling is pretty easy and isn't that painful, i don't use a numbing cream or anything i can handle it just fine. if you were to have someone do it, it can be $100+ per treatment. my roller was only $50 and came with some creams and is supposed to last 6-7 sessions.

Hello

I have not read the whole thread, but I would appreciate if anyone could jump in and offer advice on a general consescous of what is the best way to use the derma roller with.

Creams? Supplements?

From my own research the must haves should be a collagen supplement, like NeoCell Super Collagen + C Type I and III

Best reviews on Amazon by far! It only gets 4.5 from 15 people just because 2 of them never got the supplement (from Amazon? weird) and gave 1 point.

A good quality vitamin c cream that would promote collagen formation, Avalon Organic Botanicals Vitamin C Hydrating Cleansing Milk

Again best reviews in Amazon, by far... I really like Amazon.com as you can see 😉

Lidocaine cream as as a topical anaesthetic for some serious rolling...

This is just some ideas, but I would love to hear what other people think.

Best videos I found for derma - rolling, how to do it, and how it works, is in dermaroller-planet.

I do not know if I can post a link, but you can google, derma roller planet videos.

I just use a C serum at 15-20% at 2.8-3.5ph. Supplements I use are vitamin c, msm, grape seed extract, omega 3.

In a nut shell, is dermarolling working for you guys? yes or no?

Abslutely.

I read somewhere that fish oils (0mega3) should be avoided before an operation/cosmetic procedures as it an anti-coagulant or makes you bleed a lot and hard to scab or heal.

I don't know what is going on with me. I have had tiny to almost unnoticeable improvement with dermaroller. I had my fourth session at Dr Chu's about a month ago and my skin looks the same. The texture is much better but my scars are still the same.

I use LEDs, use sunscreen, vit c cream, take vit c.

I really think im stuck with scarring forever. Im going to try and get the pictures Dr Chu took last may and compare them, coz it may just be me but im sure there is no improvement.

People using LEDs, do you use them EVERY day without fail?

Is there anything i should add to my regimen?

x

I had 4 sessions by now. The 4th was two weeks ago. I'd say the result is negligible - not noticeable. But I'm not giving up. I'll get more sessions when i get back to the philippines. I'm also going to buy a dermaroller online and do it myself. I'm not giving up!

Good luck with your treatment, i hope it works for you.

They did say to me that one lady had 6 treatments and her scarring is almost gone.

I do need TCA cross aswell, so that may help more.

I'm certainly not giving up, I do think my expectations may be a bit high.

Hopefully, i can get my pictures from last year and post them with current ones and let everyone have look and see what they think.

i really wonder why there is NO recommedation of needling/dermaroller to treat acne scars in many official international medical sites..?

i know some said it may be due to the fact that the dermatologists dont have the technology to sell to patients but some research said it hasnt had enought scientific evidence to prove it.. here in hongkong there are SO many comanpies claims that it works because they just wanna sell the dermrollers, which i think is cruel to people who are suffering from acne scar, the pain that others cant taste.. so can someone offer me other answers? please?I am SO eager to know

PS I am so excited to find this site recently where i can find people who can understand the situation im going through  (especially last summer i was seriously depressed because of my face as i was going to be a freshman in the coming year WHICH CAUSED ME TO HAVE SERIOUS BREAKOUT, SO GUYS PLEASE DANT BE DEPRESSED AT ANYTIME CUASE IT CAN CASUE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES ) AND i would like to thank all who give informative replies which really help! really appreciate! THANK YOU! 😀

I have moderate rolling scars on both cheeks. I have done two fraxels at high intensities (probably should do a couple more), some chemical peels etc. I tried dermarolling about 3 months ago - I did it at home with a 1.5mm roller, two times, one month apart. In between I put a lot of vitamin cream on my face at night (vitamins A, C, and E). I bought the roller from a company in Norway for about $45. They sent me everything I needed. I did use some cold packs to numb beforehand. Numbing your skin will make it go better. My skin did bleed, and I was nervous as hell doing it. I was red for two days after, so don't plan on social stuff for a couple of days.

Out of all of the treatments that I have done, I have to say that dermarolling is great. Your dermo won't know a thing about it, because they don't make $ off of it. It really has the same effect as a fraxel to me. The goal is to wound the skin underneath the top layer and let it produce collagen as it heals. The collagen pushes up and smooths out the scarred areas on your face. Forget chemical peels and things that strip off the top layer of your skin. You need to get underneath the top layer to smooth out your scars. Dermarolling is great for this. I have not seen my face look this smooth since I was probably 15 (in my mid-thirties now). It takes a few months to really see your skin smooth out. I would definitely suggest doing deramarolling and vitamin cream. It's a great combo. I wouldn't mind paying someone to do it, just because I am not crazy about doing it myself. I am wondering at this rate if I should even do another one. My moderate scarring is probably 60 to 70% better from dermarolling (the two deep fraxels I did a year ago have helped too).

I personally like the Vitamin C powder by Philosophy - you just mix a small amount in with your moisturizer. It is nice because the powder isn't as unstable as most of the liquid forms of Vitamin C.

Yep - I use the stamp version myself once every few months (but I haven't been consistent lately...). I like to user copper peptides for the first 2 days after the dermarolling session and then Vitamin C every other day. I have been using the powder for years now and am really happy with it. With that being said, I haven't tried many other options so I don't have much to compare to.

i appologise if this has been answered before, but how much bleeding are you supposed to see?

ive heard some people say they dont bleed at all, some say littles specks, others say they get a lot of blood.

i rolled with 2mm last night and i got a few small specks of blood, not a lot at all. i pushed down very hard.

should i be seeing more blood than this? im pushing very hard so i dont see how i could produce more blood.

I personally believe that not everyone bleeds in response to dermarolling. I don't bleed much and I push pretty much as hard as I can.

thanks for the reply lillya. i rolled again last night to see if i could get some blood. i pushed down so hard i almost broke the roller. i did manage to get a lot more blood but still it didnt seem like a whole lot. it was extremely painful and a huge amount of pressure was applied.

im thinking this is because of the area im treating. im treating stretch marks on my shoulder at the moment. the skin there is tougher than on the face and when you apply pressure you just end up pushing the skin/fat/muscle downwards so you dont really get anywhere. because of this it is taking extreme force to get any blood out.

Dont push down too hard. I have dermaroller done by Dr chu, he doesnt push down really hard, i do bleed but as soon as i'm iced and cleaned, im just red.

Please be careful.

Thanks for all the advice, good luck everyone!

I actually think this might be correct, be aware people do a bit of research.
