Tap, I have seen you post this information several times before but I'm unclear on your reasoning. Could you please clarify?
I've only posted it when another user has said ACV has caused them to breakout. The mechanism behind the growth of acne is a clogging of the pores which leads to postules forming. Thus, my reasoning is that ACV may clog the pores in some individuals leading to acne.
Tap, this is maybe the fifth post of yours I've responded to concerning the hypocrisy of what you say. You claim ACV doesn't work because there's no scientific reasoning to back it up. Then you go on several different threads and claim ACV clogs pores. Your justification? "reasoning". Last time I checked, the "reasoning" of one individual does NOT make things true. I've also noticed that you never respond to posts that directly contradict what you say. For example, you posted how ACV is extremely corrosive. Then SmashingPumpkin posted how it's dangerous only at certain concentrations. Your response? Nothing.
Try not to stress out in school. I know it is easier said then done because I am delaing with the same ordeal. I start college tomorrow and I am so nerovus and full of stress I haven't been eating weel and I got a couple white heads on my forehead and a small cyst on my chin. Atleast the red marks are basically gone of my cheeks, so the only thing that is red is that cyst on my chin, it hurts a little bit but its red 🙁
hey anyone using ACV, i want to know what i think
i am using it on acne scars, more brown than red (olive skin) so i'm hoping this will work.
i have 2 scars inbetween the eyebrows, 3 really close at the top of the forehead, as well as a few others in that area. none of them are big at all, and the random ones on the forhead are basically just dots. i have one below my lip thats a little bigger those than those ones but really, i dont have many large acne scars. none of these are indented.
i just started today, september 4th, and i want all of these to be extremely faded or gone by september 30th. do you think i have a chance? how many times should i apply a day (i will be gone every day 7am-6pm ish, though)? if i have any pimples in the area i'm applying it, will it cause more? i have prescription for my acne (that is basically clear), its clindamycin phosphate, should i use that before or after i put on some acv before i go to bed? and this is ridiculous, but if i'm storing it in a water bottle, just alittle bit of acv with some water, will it 'go bad'? how quickly will i see results?
answers are appreciated! and if you want to know, september 30th is a formal dance at my high school. i never wear make up but i want to look really nice that night for my boyfriend, and i think it'd be amazing if i could go completely make up free.
thanks in advance!!!
If I were You I would apply the ACV toner in the morning and it does not take long to dry, then apply your prescription topical. When you get home shower/wash whatever you do then apple ACV toner and before bed apply fullstrength ACV (only do this after 1 week of using the diluted solution), After apply the ACV then apply your prescrition and moisturizer. Try to make sure you use it atleast 3x a day I find the more you use it the faster your results.
Now some ppl break out a little the first week of suing ACV which makes sense and is normal because you are introducing something new into your regimen and your skin just has to adjust. I noticed and other people did that their breakout wiht ACV cleared up alot faster then it ususally does and didn't leave any new redmarks. So do not too worried if you break out a little. You are also using a prescription topical so I doubt you will get many new pimples.
I think you will see def. results before Sept. 30 I know I did after only using it 2 weeks. Just follow the regimen and it should work out.
Tap, I have seen you post this information several times before but I'm unclear on your reasoning. Could you please clarify?

Yes, I am familiar with all of that. I am interested in your reasoning as to exactly how ACV would go about clogging the pores.
Tap, I asked you this question because I personally am hard put to it to think how ACV could be comedogenic. It is basically just acetic acid and water.
There is a chance that people might dehydrate their skin through over-use, especially if using ACV at full strength. There is a chance of inflicting a mild burn. And, if the product does cause the pores to begin purging, people will certainly see an initial breakout.
However, these things are true of ALL acid-based treatments --- including the ones that you have been recommending as an alternative.
If used cautiously and in a 50/50 solution, I cannot see how ACV poses any risk to anyone. It is also extremely cheap and easy to come by. How effective it is I do not know, but I do not understand why you are trying so hard to dissuade people from even experimenting with it.
As long as your posts were focused on the effectiveness of lactic and glycolic acids and the lack of scientific research into the effects of acetic acid on skin, I think you were on firm ground. But your latest posts about the supposed risks of ACV seem overblown and ridiculous to me. You are entitled to your opinion at all times, but I must ask you not to stir up trouble deliberately.
If you have some solid reasoning as to why ACV might pose an actual risk to acne sufferers, you are of course welcome to post it.
hey guys
ACV didnt break me up...i still have acne like i earlier had..i.e 2 pimples and 1 cyst...this is how i get acne normally and sometimes extremely severe when my period gets late or simply PMS....but i havent seen any change in acne severity as far as ACV is concerned....but definitely my skin is less oily and there is a nice glow on my skin which i've never had earlier and i just luv it..........i have lots of red marks on my chin as a result of my last month's PMS...it was terrible...but i really dont know whether ACV is helping my red marks coz i look a lot at my face the whole day to really notice the difference...i've already posted "before" pic in one of my replies and noW will post "after"pic after 1 week....
smashingpumpkins,,i have a qn for u...actually i have this eucerin toner with lactic acid lying on my dresser...it is non comedogenic....do u think i can use it with ACV regimen and how??pls answer...
i just started using the ACV for 4 days.
but i just use 50/50 ACV and water. i dont mix it with aspirin.
and now i got some new breakouts. before this my face was clear
for few months.
This is because ACV can clog your pores and cause breakouts for some people.
hey. is it true ACV can clog pores and cause breakouts for some people???
Yeah, so everything was going well until I began to break out. I have 5 or 6 pimples on my forhead, 4 on my right side, and 1 on my left.
I'm not sure what to do, I think I'll keep using the ACV because, despite breaking me out, it has made my skin overall look alot better. It has decreased my oil to normal, made my skin more smooth, slightly faded my marks (with the aid of differin- an Rx), and evened my skin tone.
I think that this is just an initial break out/purging effect as I used to have many little clogged pores on my face.
Smashing Pumpkins said this breakout will heal fast, so I'll trust her and keep with the ACV. However, if my breakout doesn't clear (or I don't notice it clearing) or worse within 9 days (September 14th), then I'm stopping the ACV.

No it isn't read LionQueen's response to Tap. He refuses to give an swer for his claims. Basically he doesn't want anyone to try ACV because he feels it is useless .. he feels how cna anything that isn't scientifically proven work so he has to make up stuff about it. There is no way it is comedogenic at all. Nothing it is could possibly clog your pores. It had vitamins, minerals, amino acids, water, Malic Acid, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Acetic Acid, Apples, Vinegar and none of that will clog your pores.
The only posible reasons that it would make soneone break out are the following:
1) Sensitive Skin
2) Allergic Reaction
3) Purging - this one makes sense, I believe this is what it does, because since I had that once breakout I haven't had another. It only gets better.
4) Skin is not use to the product - Like anything else when you introduce something new to your regimen, your skin will freak out and sometimes it takes a while to get use to it. Hence, BP also breaks out out because of purging and this reason.
*If you notice My pix I posted what my nsoe use to look like before ACV - Alot of blackheads. It does not make sense that this "clogs pores" if my skin began purging everything out including the blackheads. Everyday I could actually feel the blakcheads on my nsoe, they began coming closer and closer to the surface until all I had to do was when I was in the shower was wipe my face with a towel or exfoliator and they were all gone. And. they have not been back since!
With all that said .. how can it clog pores? Yes there is no scientific evidence to say it does or doesn't but, I am proof of what it does. I have written about what it does, proved to you in my pix and am always updating. That is just as good as any scientific evidence.
smashingpumpkins,,i have a qn for u...actually i have this eucerin toner with lactic acid lying on my dresser...it is non comedogenic....do u think i can use it with ACV regimen and how??pls answer...
Looking at your face too much may not be good, because you see yourself everyday so you won't see the results we see. Just relax, how many days have you been doing this?
Actually, ACV has Lactic Acid in it. I suggets not using it because you will not know what got rid of your redmarks .. was it the Eucerin or ACV? Stick with ACV for a month and if it doesn't work use the Eucerin one. Make sure you are using ACV atleast 3x a day and after a week or wee 1/2 make your solution stronger and I would suggest using full strength ACV at night. - Only do that if you feel comfortable with your skin.
P.S. Check and see if the toner has alcohol in it. If it does it seriously isn't worth trying because then it will just make your skin dry and give you more oil. type or copy and paste it's ingredients. That is anoter reason why I use ACV as my astringent/toner because it is the only thing that has worked and has NO ALCOHOL. And, if you buy the all organic one NO Preservatives either so probobly less irritation. So if there is alcohol then there is probobly alot more alcohol then lactic acid.

Vinegar has a tonic action that promotes blood circulation in the small capillaries that irrigate the skin. It is also antiseptic, preventing the proliferation of bacteria, viruses, or yeast that trigger infection. It can dissolve excessive fatty deposits at the surface of the skin and reduce scaly or peeling conditions. Lastly, vinegar regulates the pH of the skin. Vinegar is most effective when used with lavender, rosemary, rose, or elder flower. It is essential to use top-quality white wine or cider vinegar. Dry any fresh plant material for two days before using.
Measure and mix only dried plant material and then add the vinegar. Apple ciders composed entirely of liquids can be used at once. Those containing plant material must be left to macerate. Prepare the latter in a screwtop jar and leave on a window sill as instructed, strain, and then bottle. To use, add 1 teaspoon of apple cider to a cup of bottled or spring water to wash your face or pour 3-4 tablespoons into a bath.
Lavender, Rosemary and Rosewood
Vinegar: 17 1/2 fl. oz good-quality white wine or apple cider vinegar
Essential Oils: 3/5 teaspoon each lavender and rosemary, 2/5 teaspoon rosewood
Plus: 2 tablespoons glycerin
Calendula and Elder Flower
Plant material: 2 oz calendula flowers and 3 oz elder flowers
Vinegar: 2 pints good-quality white wine or apple cider vinegar
Macerate: 2 weeks Lavender, Rose, Pink, and Lime
Plant material: 1 oz each lavender and lime (or linden) flowers, rose petals, pinks
Vinegar: 2 pints good-quality white wine or apple cider vinegar
Macerate: 2 weeks
Apple cider vinegar is rich in alpha-hydroxy acids, helping to dissolve fatty deposits on the skinAaas surface and reducing scaly conditions, promoting a softer, smoother appearance. This miracle fluid also regulates the pH of the skin.

Here is what Reviewers at MakeUp Alley said about ACV --- This is very usefull information. It is nice to see many others will great results!

I used 50/50 ACV till now (i'm gonna switch to about 3/5 ACV and 2/5 water). I used it 2 times a day for a few days..then switched to 3 times. Yesterday I couldnt do it more than twice though I moved into college residence, and have broken out again. I think the ACV is doing more good than harm though, something like 'purging' that you mentioned.
Yes I believe it purges from my own experience with the blackhead situation and just some pimples I got. I used ACV on them and the next day they were a white head and that never happens usually take s afew days for any of my pimples to become a whitehead so quickly. It also makes sense that you would breakout because your skin isn't use to it, but in a few days it will be, and then all your pimples will subside.
Are you stressed out about college? I know I am so I got a couple white heads yesterday and they are alrdy almost gone now.
Read the Reviews At MakeupAlley just so you cna read some info from people who are using it with great success!

In reference to the thread above where they use ACV as a toner, I noticed some of them diluted the ACV with green tea, you think that'd make a difference as opposed to usign water?

Green Tea has alot of antioxidants so putting green tea in it will probobly improve your skin as well. I am thinking of adding Green Tea to mine as well.
I noticed since using ACV the wrinkles I had on my forhead are almost gone. When I use to wear makeup the lines were so prominent and it was so ugly, no my forhead is completely smooth 🙂
Anyone in the UK using ACV?? If so where are you getting it from?? Can't find it in Waitrose(!) can't find it in Holland and Barrett unless in capsule form.
Hoping to give this a go if I can find some so any help would be appreciated!! Thanks.
Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's (they probably have 5 or 6 different types )
Usually in the vinegar isle...next to Sarson's. 😀
I'm not too stressed out about college...but my mind is constantly preoccupied with my skin while being here on campus. I hate going out with this big red bumps on my face . Luckily I have a gf and a bunch of friends on campus, otherwise I'd probably end up sitting in my room all day and being a loner lol. I've noticed the blackheads on my nose are going away which is a good sign. I've had a rather large zit on my nose for 2 weeks (almost three) and its still not gone. It doesnt hurt anymore, theres no pus visible..its just in its dying stages lol, and its taking a while to go. I have a couple zits like that, that wont go away. I just broke out with about 4 new zits..the pustules that hurt. I'll keep posting on how long those take to go away. I'm gonna stick with this ACV stuff for a month or two, and hopefully I'll be able to finally have some clear skin
That makeup site's forums gave me some hope!

I hope it works for you! I am glad you are seeing some results, but it may be to eraly to tell. MakeupAlley is a very informative site actually. Do you use BP? ACV + BP + Moisturizer is a very good combo.

As Smashing Pumpkins had said, my pimples from my recent breakout are getting smaller. I expect to be clear again (with improved skin) in a few days.
No lie about the red marks either. I had these awful red marks on my forhead (between my eyes- you can look through my posts if you don't believe me) and theyre disappearing like mad.
just to prove it works i am posting pics. this is after 7-10 days use.
these red marks were bad, hard to see in pics but 90% of face was red.
not saying i am a new man but it is the only this that has improved my redmarks/acne.
the after pics have some better lighting makes my marks look almost gone? maybe they are
seems to good to be true be careful at first stings alot. dillute dillute dillute and add as you go.
BEFORE:
AFTER 7-10DAYS:
Hi SmashingPumpkins,
I have just read my way through this thread which was very interesting although Tap was boring me immensely.
Tap, what are you trying to achieve? People are having success with this, so frankly I couldn't give a toss if the science supports it or not. It IS working for people and is surely worth a try. Or perhaps SmashingPumpkins works for Heinz......
I am going to the shops just now to buy a bottle and will let you all know how it goes.
