Ok. I have been using ACV for 2 weeks. Prior to that I wasn't using anything and my skin has been clear for a while. The first week was ok , then the second week i got really oily and broke out in whiteheads on forehead, upper cheek and sides of chin. I stopped using it for 3 days and they all went away. oh well, I guess It's just not for me. But glad it's working for some of you.
Mandy, I use BP and ACV if anything I am gettinf wonderful results, I do not see anything worng with it. Dan says you cna use an AHA while on the regimen and ACV is an AHA only better.
Pink, most people break out when a new product is used on their face espeically when your face has never been near an acidic product and only alkaline. I think you should try it, your face probobly was prgung out all the bad stuff similar to people who start the CSR they also get a really bad breakout. I noticed a break out when I started it, I am sure some of my breakout was because I was PMS'ing at the time but some because of the ACV after that week my face as only improved. I got 2 white heads after that week and they are going away faster then before when I didn't use ACV.
ThereIsHope, I hear your skin is very sensitive and fragile when on accutane if you are too use it I suggest using it in a very small ratio less then 50/50.
smashingpumpkins, first of all- thanks a lot for answering all my qns. ...and i again have a querry...it just struck my mind that if i never leave my skin free of AVC except while having a bath, and i apply ACV every two hours during the day and one thick layer during night, to balance the ph of my skin... does it mean that i'm preventing an environment for acne to develop ??? i mean to say ACV all the time on my skin means no acne at all bcoz acne needs an environment to develop which it wont get if ACV exists on my face...does it make any sense to you??...do u think there's any logic behind this??
and will it work for cystic acne too as it is said that cystic acne develops deep down the skin and not on the surface???pls answer my qn. as i want to prepare myself for that extremely severe occasional breakdown i always get...
woowoo smashingpumpkin! your progress looks great. that goes for all of you having success.
i noticed i got three whiteheads on my forehead as well, which is more than i get at a time. but they went away MUCH quicker than usual (in 1-2 days). i think acv is doing a purging of the impurities in your skin, and you should wait it out. it definitely brings shallow blackheads to the surface, so this is probably what it's doing. now i'm not sure about this, it's just a guess, but it's plausible.

I actually got one of those nasty little cysts on my chin .. wow it hurt yesterday. So lets see how fast it heals. I am astounded actually that it is very small today and doesn't hurt ususally when I get a cyst on my chin it hurts really bad and lasts for about a week, so this is a great sign!
ACV gives your skin the cotaing it need to protect your skin from acne. Acne cannot survive in an acidic environment but thrive in an alkaline one. Almost all products on the market today at alkaline making our skin even more susceptible to acne. So sure these acne products dry out the acne on our skin but only leave your skin unprotected to you break out within a week or two, it is a vicious cycle. Depending on how often you use ACV on your face will make the difference. Like I have said it balances your pH level on the skin bringing it back to an acidic level, our skin has a pH of around 5.5 which is acidic. Which is why ACV helps to recreate the "acid mantle" so that our pores do not have to over work themselves, creating more oil to create that acid covering. That is why we have oily skin because our skin is trying to make that acid layer again but all alkaline products do is wash it away.
hey..ur face looks quite gud...and its strange how that red mark lightened in a day...my red marks dont leave me easily ...can u tell me how did u pop it and what did u apply on ur face afterthat..
I try very hard not to use my nails because it is when you use your nails that creates an even bigger red mark. i just gently press the area around thw white head. Wait until it is ready to pop tho not when you juss see it a little. After that I took a shower and then applied ACV and BP, like I have been every night. I just started using BP more often, I have been using ACV for a month now every single day atleast 3x a day.
Smashing Pumpkins... can you use ACV on your face when on the regimen? My main prob right niow is teerrrrible redmarks and without makeup, my face looks really broken out when its really not 🙁
Lol you saying that your real face is with the makeup instead of without???? lmao

I am not giving bad advice, go to the acne.org front page Dan actually tells you how to properly pop a pimple. He wanted to know how i did it and that is how I did it. Did I tell him, you should do this or this is how you should do it? No. I hardly ever do pop a pimple but I had to this time, didn't want to walk around with it on my face. Obviously Twred didn't know this is a proper way to pop a pimple, you didn't ask me that, you just said how I did it.

Well, a few days ago, I heard, from this thread, that ACV fights acne and stops oily skin. Since I had a recent breakout, I decided to try using the ACV- no lie, in 4 days of use, the ACV cleared up my breakout (I now have 3 active acne pimples rather than 8.) The Vinegar also made my skin more smooth, tightened my pores, and is beginning to lighten my red marks. I would definitely recommend trying this to people. At first, even the 50/50 dilution of the vinegar may be too acidic, but your skin will get used to the vinegar in a few days.
Lastly, I've seen that some people fear smelling like vinegar; the smell completely fades within 5 minutes.
As with anything related to acne, it takes TIME for any treatment. I'm one of the people using this acv in my regimen, and I stronly urge the other users on here to continue with info on their progress and whatnot. One thing for sure this stuff definately leaves my face alot less oily, as for red marks fading I;ll update after further use (been on it for over 1 week ). Oh and to the guy flaming the girl for popping a whitehead.. are you serious? I would never walk around with those disgusting whiteheads, just pop them carefully and properly and you;ll be fine.

Wow, routhman! That's great to hear! Did you take pictures?
Everyone:
Has anyone tried putting ACV on their neck (really sensitive skin); or chest, shoulders and back (tougher skin)? I get a few bumps on my upper neck near my jawline that leave red marks. Also, my chest has a lot of bumps on it with the occasional whitehead and lots of red splotchiness. My shoulder has a red mark on it from many months ago, and my back gets the occasional bump and red mark. I don't want to use BP in these areas (except for the neck) because I don't want to ruin my clothes. Besides, it's not too bad there...just annoying.
I agree with all above but acv still causes more breakouts than ussual, well i think that is because acid dries up alot of cells, leaving dead cells, then when oil comes in contact = your pores get cloged with bacteria trapped inside.
Yes vinegar is not an AHA so it can clog pores. Unfortunately, this will cause more breakouts and defeats the whole purpose of fading red marks. You would be better off getting a real AHA like lactic acid or glycolic acid which will do a much better job of evening your skin tone, exfoliating and unclogging your pores, and fading your red marks.
HEY, JUST WONDERING....i hope ACV is not harmful for eyes as i'm not able to open my eyes for a minute immediately after i apply it on my face...i dont know the scientific name for what gets in the eyes from the acid...
I have never read anything about it being harmful to your eyes, I mean I have put on many Astringents in the past and those burned my eyes, not that I got it in my eyes but just the fumes or w/e from the astringents hurt my eyes! I doubt, it will harm you.
ACV seems to have almost instant results for oil reduction as for redmarks it takes longe,r it makes sense tho. Redmarks are basically broken capillaries (i think don't quote me) which naturally would take longer to fade. It is hard for me to see ahuge difference in oily skin because it is soo humid here so every part of my body sweats even doing the simplest things, like hanging clothes on the line, I seriously went back in my house drenched.. eww. I have noticed that my makeup stays fresher for much longer! It would take from 7AM to like 10:30AM and my makeup would start coming off because of oily skin, but I don't have that problem anymore 🙂 I am soo happy with this regimen, I am sorry for those of you who don't believe and think I am a joke, but I have been posting pix so I do not know what other proof you want. I am so happy now I can actually wear a thin layer of just translucent powder and walk out the house!! 🙂

Excuse me Tap you are sadly mistaken, go look up Malic Acid and see what you find .. Apples are very good for exfoliating the skin because of Malic Acid which is an AHA .. I see in health magazines all the time these fruit recipes, and an apple mask is one of them. So do some research which you clearly have done none if you did not know Malic Acid was in ACV. And no Gloycolic had done nothing more me .. yes it does exfoliate but that is it. ACV offers so much more - Malic Acid, Regulate pH, antiseptic, nitamins, minerals, amino acids - oh yea you will find that in any Glycolic Acid mixture, *edited by moderator*
hey guys, from today onwards i'm doing ACV three times a day without dilution i.e. straight from the bottle...as my skin can take it now...i hope this much strong acid (without dilution) had no side effects if i apply it neat everytime from now on...what do you think SmashingPumpkins

if you break out stop using it. because a lot of people are saying its causing whiteheads.

You could have white heads bc A) Is too sensitive, B) Purging or C) Allergic reaction (but that would also come with a rash). Dan's CSR Regimen does cause breakouts as well, it all has to do with purging the skin and that is what I believe ACV does. I know it is pushing out all the yucky stuff under the skin because all my blackheads came right to the surface and are now all gone because all I had to do was wipe them away with a wash cloth. Granted, some people may be allergic or exteremly sensitive, so it is your call, everyone's skin reacts differently. You should no your skin right? If you break out and you feel you don't want to coninue then don't but i broke out to and it was the shorest breakout I EVER HAD.

The thing is ACV has a higher concentration of acetic acid. Even with the little amount of malic acid, it is still not as good of an AHA as glycolic acid or lactic acid.
If it was that good, it would have been researched upon and have been treated as a more proven treatment for red marks as glycolic or lactic acid. However, it hasn't been because it is not as good.

Malic acid is an alpha-hydroxy organic acid that is sometimes referred to as a fruit acid. It is referred to as a fruit acid because malic acid is commonly found in apples as well a variety of other fruits. However, it is also found in plants and animals and human beings. Malic acid is a key intermediate in the major biochemical energy-producing cycle in cells known as the citric acid or Krebs cycle located that takes place in the cells' mitochondria in most living organisms.
Benefits of Malic Acid
- Natural humectant, which draws water out of the dermis and into the epidermis. This helps keep the skin hydrated, without contributing to oiliness
- Natural antioxidant properties help fight free radicals in the skin - which can contribute to skin damage.
- Gentle nature makes it suitable for use on sensitive skin, even in high concentrations
*If I find more I will def. post, but just so everyone knows Malic Acid is indeed an AHA in
apples which is in ACV. Cheap way to exfoliate your skin, give your skin antioxidants to
fight free radicals, give it a healthy glow and remove acne marks.
