I'm going to stop using it for a couple of days and see... It's a bit unusual, I never use to get THAT many whiteheads in a such short amount of time..I'll update in a couple of days...
Weird! I've been using AVC for about 5 or 6 days now and i'm thrilled with the way it has evened out my skin tone and is slowly fading some redmarks i've seriously had for YEARS, but all of a sudden my face has literally exploded in whiteheads!!! I'm freaking out!
I thought AVC was suposed to help acne not cause it. 🙁
Tap don't be a critic if you have yet to try it. It is like a movie critic, talking about how bad a movie is, but have not see it yet. Now, does that make much sense?
Second of all, like someone else said, I am sure ppl were skeptical about BP many I am sure though it was ridiculous. I think every new idea anyone has had their are always those who disagree even if they have no prior experience with it. They just think, it is too simply, how can simplicity be the answer. Well, yea no Tap, sometimes things that seem so simple are what make the biggest change.
Why should vinegar have to only be used on food, cooking, cleaning? If people can put egg on their faces, yogurt, fruit, vegetables. Why is Vinegar so far fetched? Especially seeing as it has been a natural remedy for many ailments, longer than you have been around (Vinegar is said to have been used for medical ailments for at least 10,000 years. The Babylonians first converted wine into vinegar in 5000 BCE using date palms, grapes, and figs, and believed vinegar had exceptional healing properties. Hippocrates is said to have used vinegar as an antibiotic. Samurai warriors supposedly used a vinegar tonic for strength and power. During the U.S. Civil War, soldiers used vinegar to prevent gastric upset and as a treatment for various ailments including pneumonia and scurvy. It was used to treat wounds during World War I).
I think you are close minded and need to expand your horizon because how can you live a life if you are looking through just a key hole? WAKE UP TAP! Try something different! Just because a "scientist" or "doctor" says Glycolic acid is classified as an AHA it is better, what happned if you found out that they were wrong and GA was't an AHA, what would you do then? You cannot always trust modern science, they are not always right and just because acetic acid isn't written in stone that it is an AHA doesn't mean it cannot act as one. Plus ACV does have an AHA in it it is called Malic Acid from appled, that is why some people put apples on their face because of its exfoliating properties. Not onl;y that but ACV is filled with vitamins/minerals which are alot better for your skin then some man made crap or preservative they put in your Glycolic Acid lotion or Neutragena, Clearasil, Biore etc. Sometimes using natural remedies are better then store bought crap.
Why don't you do soem research and look at all the recipes and websites about people using ACV on thier faces. I am sure you cna find books with natural remedies and ACV is in it somewhere.
Here are just a few of the benefits from using ACV if you haven't bothered to read my posts.

INTERNAL BENEFITS:
ACV is rich in enzymes and potassium. ACV is a natural antibiotic germ fighter, Fights E Coli and other bacterias. Apple Cider Vinegar is a good remedy for food poisoning and helpful in digestive upsets. ACV helps control and normalize weight, helps to improve digestion. ACV helps relieve arthritis stiffness. ACV removes body sludge and toxins.
EXTERNAL BENEFITS:
ACV helps to maintain healthy skin, promote youthful, healthy bodies. Soothes pain of sunburn, the itch from bug bites, and the sting from plants. ACV helps prevent dandruff, itching scalp, baldness, dry skin. ACV soothes tight aching joints, sore muscles.
Apple Cider Vinegar is proving very beneficial to people or animals with arthritis because it breaks down calcium deposits in the joints while remineralizing the bones. It has shown to be equally beneficial to dogs with hip dysplasia.
ACV is also effective for urinary tract infections and it lowers high blood pressure. In animals, it is helpful in skin and coat problems. It is helpful in replacing potassium depletion. Use one teaspoonful in the dog or catAaas drinking water daily as a healthy tonic. Two teaspoonfuls in a pint of water, for yourself. Drink a daily tonic of apple cider vinegar to help you keep the right pH balance in the urinary tract since the proper acidity creates an inhospitable environment for bacteria and yeasts that cause these infections.
Cranberry juice is also a well known home remedy for urinary tract infections. It prevents bacteria from attaching to the walls of the urinary tract.
Apples contain Vitamin C and flavonoids. Vitamin C helps with wound healing and in reducing the severity of colds and flu symptoms.
A new University of California-Davis Medical Center study shows that daily consumption of 12 ounces of apple cider or apple juice can reduce the risk of heart disease. And the benefits donAaat stop there. A recent Cornell University study found that the antioxidants in apples also inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells.
ACV has been found to protect arteries from harmful buildup of plaque. Many heart attacks are caused by high fats and cholesterol in your blood. The fiber in ACV helps to absorb fats and cholesterol by expelling them from the body as waste materials. ACV is used to promote the health of veins and capillaries, it is also useful in assisting in the health of the heart. The potassium found in apple cider vinegar is also beneficial to the heart.
The dietary fiber in ACV is also helpful in controlling glucose levels in the blood.
Minerals like manganese, calcium, magnesium, silicon and iron develop bone mass and make them stronger. . Rich source of amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
Boosting the immune system and acting as a natural antiseptic and anti-biotic. Apple cider has acetic acid, plus ion-futynic lactic and propionic acids. It is the richest source of amino acids known.
Apple cider cannot cure cancer, buy it is a valuable to have around to help fight free radicals in the body. Beta-carotene, found in apple cider vinegar, is a powerful antioxidant, which helps to neutralize the free radicals formed in the body through oxidation. To prevent these free radicals, and to keep them in check, we need antioxidants to rid our body of these potentially dangerous compounds. Left alone free radicals have the run of our bodies, they damaging cells, which leads to degeneration. The pectin in apple cider vinegar adds fiber to the diet, a high fiber diet to help prevent cancer, especially colon cancer. Fiber binds with certain cancer causing compounds in the colon, and speeds up their elimination from the system.
As you can see Tap people do research and study ACV because of all it is benefits and how people rave about it. Maybe if you ahd done some research you could have found alot of this info.

Maybe we can just spot treat on our red marks and not use it on the whole face? I'm gonna try that...i'm freaking out as well! My skin was clear until ACV..

Are you currently using BP? If you are having break outs then stick with BP after ACV. That will def. keep all breakout to a minimal, if any at all. You skin sounds super sensitive. From the reading I have done on the board it sounds like most people who are very sensitive to a product weither end up with a rash or white heads. Maybe you are allergic or you are using too high of a concentration and your skin is extremely sensitive to this new prodcut you are putting on your face.
I havn't used bp for a while not until yesterday because of the whiteheads..i use 50/50 dilution..one side of my face is very clear but the other side has lots of whiteheads after using ACV..who knows.. i maybe allergic..but I do take it internally and love it..
it is only affecting one side of your face hmm that is strange. I would use BP on it.
Have you noticed anything different internall from taking ACV like I dunno feel more energized, not as hungary, can go to the bathroom better (lol I know but i cleans out toxins) things like that?
People should stop wasting their time putting vinegar on their faces and more time putting vinegar in their foods.
shut up tap, i'm not even going to bother being polite. just shut up. you're annoying and obnoxious. no one here that's been getting great results needs your condescending comments, which you can't qualify at all when you haven't even tried it yourself. plus, smashingpumpkin, nhsbiomedstudent, and shmelis have all provided the "scientific research" that you demanded. we have real results and real biological reasons supporting ACV. WHAT NOW? please just stop shooting off bullshit just cause you can't accept that a simple, $4 bottle of vinegar can help people.
-----------
to the people getting whiteheads: perhaps there is a purgation effect? when i first started using acv, i got these bumps- idk what they were, they seemed more like a combination of whiteheads and blackheads than anything else. but they went away pretty quickly, and they haven't come back. maybe acv has some ingredient or something that pulls things to the surface of your skin to get rid of them, purge skin of impurities, etc? idk, just a thought.

im not sure what the deal is but im going to apply ACV 1x a day. if i see another whitehead im going to do it less often! and tap you can follow your 'wait and they will go away' advice! but the fact is, you can speed up the process!
Just a small footnote:
Even though I'm clear and don't get any more breakouts, I use ACV several times a day...BUT... I never stopped using BP. I apply BP in the evening ( and sometimes in the morning as well) BEFORE I apply ACV.
This is because I know BP is really efficient in terms of keeping acne at bay, plus it removes the white residue streaks from BP.
For those of you who suddenly experience a breakout of whiteheads after starting ACV: Those of you who stopped using BP when you began the ACV regimen are more likely to experience breakouts, simply because I think BP is better at killing acne than ACV. ACV - on the other hand - has numerous other benefitial properties that BP doesn't have at all, i.e. maintaining a low pH level which acne bacteria doesn't thrive in ( as Smashing Pumpkin has pointed out numerous times). This - in combination with BP's acne-killing properties - provides for a potent yet gentle regimen against acne prone skin.
For those of you who've read Dan's regimen history, he explains that he stopped using BP for a while after he became 'clear'. This, however, resulted in breakouts after a few days but diminished as soon as he took up BP application again. That's why he's still using BP after all those years of being 'clear'.
So..Don't stop using BP just because you started on the ACV regimen. Besides, the two products go hand-in-hand very well. You might want to adjust the amount of BP you're applying, but my humble advice is that you should apply BP at least every day or - at the minimum - every other day.
All I can say is that this works for me; hoping others will benefit as well.
All the best o' luck with your individual regimens.
i only used BP once and it was awhile ago. i think the breakouts and ACV could be a coincidense because i was using it for a week + without problems, then had a breakout. then i used it once after i stopped for a few days and got another whitehead. i dont know what to do.
=\ i think ACV does cause whiteheads and applying BP is idiotic with ACV because skin doesnt heal but doesnt break out, which is dumb. Its better for all redness to go away first then stop acv and every other product, and let your own skin deal with this. If you apply more stuff then your skin be dependent on something, you will be addicted to it. Making it an exact definition of a drug, using for clearing up skin, in other words for pleasure of having good skin.
am gonna try this method cos i know i have apple cider at home. i can jus leave it on after cleansing and continue with the CSR regimen?
indeed, just make sure your face is 100% dry before applying the BP, don't want it to ball up.

Well then looking at it that way I guess Dan is addicted to BP? Doubt it, some people have acne basically forever, so if you can control it by using BP then be my guest. For some people yes they grow out of it others no. And, ACV does not cause white heads there can only be 3 explanations for that. 1) Sensitive skin, 2) allergic reaction and 3) ACV actually brings to the surface what has been brewing under your skin for weeks. I think it is 3 because my blackheads have come to the surface and all I have to do now is gently exfoliate them out, that has never happened before.
The ACV + BP method makes sense to work. ACV brings pH of skin back to normal while at the same time healing your skin and keeping your acid mantle in tact. Now for people who still breakout occasionally BP is good because it kills w/e other bacteria is on the skin and puts oxygen in your pores. Both ACV and BP kill bacteria sooo.. what is wrong with that? Better the results IMO.
I cannot say for myself whether ACV gave me a minor breakout because while I was using it just so happnes I was PMS'ing and I also get some sort of a breakout during that time. Today I do have a white head on my chin but that often happens I think from food that touches my chin and I do not wash it immediately. I also got one white head on my cheek. I applied ACV and it seemed to being the white head more and more to the surface. Now it is just a little red so I am going to put some Neospirin on it b/c is hurts and to heal it faster.
I took your advice Smashing, and cut down the SA wash to twice a day instead of three. I started using the ACV three times a day (today is my second day using it 3x). I've started seeing a lot of dead skin on my face now (if i scratch the area, the 'dead skin' comes off). Is this kinda thing normal? I only see the 'dead skin' on the acne-prone areas of my face.
wow i am not liking this smell
😆
You get used to it eventually. I thought it was horrible at first too but now I don't notice it! 😀
lol yea the smell dies out quickly anyway .. btw vikster nice gallery good before/after pics!
Why thank you! 😀
I never thought I would be able to post before and after pics, I thought those nasty painful spots would never go away!

If your skin isn't use to an AHA then yes it will peel but that is a good thing because all the dead skin and clogged pores are going to be gone 🙂 I got some peeling on my nose, I don't anymore and I don't have blackheads either 🙂
I got Heinz ACV(5 % acidity) today..I dont know if its the ideal one?..
Brand name doesn't necessarily matter unless you are looking for an Organic ACV which ofcourse would be better and probobly would see better results but it wouldnt be 3 dollars. I saw the Heinz one but I bought the Stop & Shop one because they had a bigger bottle. I plan on buying Heinz like 4 or 5 gallon jug of ACV for only 4 or 5 dollars 🙂 that is awsome!
don't use white vingar. I have only heard of using white vinegar on under arms and feeet to stop the smell. So basically all I can find about white vinegar are the uses for cleaning. It is an odor remover and stain remover, mildew remover and the list goes on. I think I am going to buy some because I love cleaning.
