I've been breaking out since Thursday basically. I think I counted 19 pimples! But they're healing and only 2 popped and the other ones went away by themselves. None of them were cystic either.
I searched more and detox is VERY common with spirulina. I've read that some detox can last for every year you've been alive is how many months you'll be in detox. lol...
But my face is healing so it might be over.
I have found sooo many alternatives for wheat and oat free flour:
Millet
Buckwheat
Coconut
Kamut
Quinoa
Almond
Sourghom
Hazelnut
Good thing I don't have an allergy to nuts because raw cashews are like 90% in every raw food recipe.
I got the coconut oil, raw honey, pearl powder and kiss my face products.
everyone raved how great to coconut oil tastes but it tastes like nothing! it tastes and has the consistency of plastic but it smells wonderful.
the raw honey was gritty but then turned really smooth. i like it a lot better than the processed honey i have been buying in the past.
i put it on my skin and i didn't really like it. maybe it would be better spot treating.
the pore shrinking kiss my face mask is good also and didn't burn thankfully.
i'm too afraid to use the kiss my face vitamin c serum right now since i recently exfoliated.

They're pretty self-explanatory.
Oh and I'm not liking the pearl powder in my makeup. It gives me an odd sheen. I boughtthis and it is making a big difference. At first I didn't like it but it's nice.
Yummy. I found pictures of myself back from Prom.
My skin was delicious
# Eat 20 to 30 grams of fiber every dayFiber helps keep the colon clean and may remove toxins from the body before they reach the skin.
# Eat a low fat dietThe cultures whose natural diet was low in fat, had less acne, and high fat consumption may elevate hormone levels in the body that cause blemishes on the skin.
# Avoid peanut productsPeanut products were found to cause acne flare ups in a study of 500 adolescents.
# Avoid fried foodsFried foods were found to caused break outs.
# Limit salt intake especially table salt or iodized salt Many people with acne have elevated levels of iodine, found in table salt, in their blood stream during acne flare ups.
# Avoid highly salty sacks such as chips, lunch meats, canned foods, and salted popcornThese foods are high in salt and, in some cases, fat.
* Avoid dairy products such as milk, cheese and ice cream
* Avoid highly processed carbohydrates such as sodas, candy, and baked goodsHigh carbohydrate foods raise the level of insulin in the blood and elevated insulevel may raise the levels of acnecausing hormones in the body.
In addition to following the acne diet suggestions, taking the following supplements are proposed to also help prevent acne:
* Vitamin A (may be toxic consult your doctor first)
* Vitamin E
* Vitamin B6
* Selenium
* Zinc
* Omega-3 Fatty Acid
* Chromium
Many high carbohydrate foods are believed to worsen acne. Researchers have discovered that high carbohydrate foods increase the levels of insulin in the blood. High levels of insulin can raise hormone levels in the blood.
Today in my Natural News newsletter it talked about
"The World's Top Five Superfoods for Silky Smooth Skin"
Talk about good timing
"Astaxanthin: The Little-Known Miracle Nutrient for Inflammation, Anti-Aging, Athletic Endurance and More " http://www.naturalnews.com/023177.html
This is the best deal I found for astaxanthin http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=11882 and Iherb has a 5 dollar discount for new customers so that's an even better deal than amazon and vitacost.
"This last study's results that I cited are the most exciting, because what it's saying is Astaxanthin can reduce post-acne marks AND protect your skin from sun damage without having to apply sunscreen or limit your exposure to the sun!
You can just add it to your moisturizer and apply it to your skin to get all of those benefits.
And not only does Astaxanthin act as an internal sunscreen, it is also an internal beauty supplement. "
WOW your skin looks great in your most recent pictures. Thanks for putting your link on my topic question.
I truly am inspired by your improvement and definitely going to look into taking vitamins. I recently started to eat healthier to lose weight, and I hope it also aids in getting rid of my acne.
I think I have skin similar to what you had in Feb. 2007, with some acne here and there, but mostly just red scars, but I have a bit more ice pick scars.
I don't have too much acne now, I'm using AcneFree Severe, and I want to focus on just trying to get rid of my scarring
Thanks again, I hope this can also help me.

No problem. I'm not sure if Acnefree helps with red marks though. I have gotten results using honey and nutmeg masks. I have nasty ice pick scars too. Too bad there's really no natural way to fix that :think: . Eating healthier defiantly will help your skin and body all around, good luck!
my detox breakout is over and healed for the most part. i still have a zit by my mouth. maybe it's from my lipstick, idk. it's not my toothpaste because it's sls and fluoride free.
i have these little tiny zits burrowed into my chin crease that aren't going away! i also have a chin zit coming up but it's probably from pms. this is the last month i'll be on orthotricyclen lo.
I hope I don't go through another detox with Astaxanthin.
I just bought a mini zeno for 40 bucks
Once it comes in the mail I'll give a review
[if anyone wants to buy a verilux acne light at discounted price, i have one]
Ugh, I think I am going to stop the spirulina. I was told it had iodine content and that's a no-no for acne. I keep on breaking out in the same places too. It has been on the right side of my face by my chin and mouth. I don't touch it or anything.
Honey isn't working out for me either. I have read how it has amazing healing properties but it doesn't work for me! I put it on my face and I get clogged pores. Neosporin has been healing faster than honey.
It sucks thinking I had my acne under control before trying to make it perfect by adding more remedies and pills!
Yeah... I'm stopping spirulina. I haven't gotten these painful zits until I started. I took the 3,000 mg it says to take but it might be too high of iodine content for me. I have to say that my skin everywhere else was looking really nice but that one location by my mouth and chin would flare up so it defeats the purpose. Maybe it is interacting with my birth control because chin acne is connected to the chin.
The pimples get a dark yellow head on them overnight which is odd. They aren't the huge red lumps that never come to head like my PMS zits. I haven't been under a lot of stress either.
Maybe micro-algae is not for me.
I found this site and it has interesting information on it. I don't think I'll ever be ones of those people to have a liver flush or enema. Idk. http://www.curezone.com/dis/1.asp?C0=23
How soon after you started using the honey-nutmeg masks did you see your marks lightening? I've been using it for a few weeks now, and don't see any change at all. :confused:
I'm not sure. Maybe a couple months but I did it every single night and sometimes left it overnight.
Here are the photos of the Spirulina break out. I feel so stupid. I read a lot on it and didn't see the fact that it contains iodine. I have read in books that high iodine content can give acne to anyone like in high amounts of shrimp.
The break out was all along my chin and mouth. They were different kind of pimples I was used to. They wouldn't go down with BP 10% or anything! Plus they were filled with dark yellow pus and normally it'll be white so there must have been a difference cause or a major infection.
The pimples also doubled within themselves creating two heads. In the crease of my chin I probably had to pop 6 little zits each inside itself because they weren't going to go down by themselves because the infection was bad. Then I burned myself with apple cider vinegar
I think some of the tiny zits on my chin were from the blanket touching my face. Since I'm thin, it's hard to get enough body heat especially when my room is colder than the rest of my house so I have to bundle with the blankets which in turn hit my face!
The breakout started maybe the 12th and I have healed a lot since yesterday thanks to neosporin and a cotton ball over the scabs. Funny, I was clear on the 10th.
One my skin heals up I think I'll try the other pills and make sure I cut down the normally dosing just in case I do break out. This time I'll have a zeno to work it out.
lol. I'm using the zeno mini and I'm not impressed. It's not even that hot. It's like a warm towel. The only difference is that you don't get wet, have any annoying towel on your face or have to deal with the cloth getting cold fast.
But jeez, all the reviews said to was so hot but I can't imagine even wincing using this.
Oh well, atleast I got 50 dollars off on ebay.
It's so odd reading how people are using iodine to help their acne when it's a direct cause of acne. They say it "detoxes" your body but I don't believe that. That's why I believe eggs make me break out even though I'm not allergic. Thankfully you can use flaxseed and water to sub an egg in baking. I haven't tried it yet though.
Yeah I do it every night for 20 minutes. I guess I'll keep with it, and leave it on for an hour instead...
One day after the Zeno:
After using it a couple times on the zits over the span of the day like the instructions says, it does get painful but barely because it's sore. Mine were really painful before I Zeno'ed it so it might not be for you. My two zits I have were weird and won't go down with BP.
Another zit I used it on went down overnight but it was down before from rubbing garlic on it. The Zeno may have helped, idk.
The zits in the crease of my chin are still around though.
I have two [painful] zits left over from the big break out but thankfully they are small in size! Oh and one in the crease of my chin too. I do have 2-3 wounds healing because I HAD to pop them. They were horrific, huge and not going down by themselves.
I bought a coconut yesterday and smashed it open today . The water from it looks pretty dirty so I don't think I'm going to drink it. I'm not impressed with the meat either. It is a brown coconut and not as sweet.
I think this is a good example of how people grow out of acne. I don't think it has anything to do with your diet.Ahh, how I wish it were true!
But 11 pages of hit and misses with foods do not lie. I wish it was something I was growing out of but I'm still breaking out. I get my allergy test results next week though.
Do you think this size zit is coming from someone who is grown out of acne?
That's what happens when I stray from my diet. Last time I ate like I used to I got a swarm of cystic pimples. That doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that something is happening internally.
Also, my sister who is 25 is considering accutane. I doubt it's just growing out of it. And my other sister on her wedding day dealt with acne so I'm pretty sure it's genetics, hormones and food allergies for me.
1 year ago I was eating ramen noodles, sugary fruit juices, cookies, ice cream, pizzas and frozen dinners every night. I never drank water either. My acne was horrendous and cystic. I got them all on the sides of my face which is connected to the stomach or "lungs" shown here:
![]()
The first entry should show enough evidence that diet contributes to most acne. For myself anyways. It took months to get clear but once I got rid of known allergen foods my skin was clear. Just a coincidence huh?
So why can't you clear it up again?
I basically have one zit left over from the Spirulina break out. Thank goodness. I just have 2 healing ones left over. I'll add a picture when it's healed better.
I have been oil pulling every other day. Not sure if it is doing anything but I have read great reviews on it. Thankfully no detox with that!
I have been eating a lot of raw cashews and hummis which both have fats in them. No breakout over the past couple of days from them either.
After this break out heals I think I'm done caring about my skin to the extent that I am. It's been too long and all these crazy pills and creams I want to add to make my skin "perfect" are only doing more damage. I'll probably stop this log too.
I've started drinking aloe vera juice. It's not that bad. It tastes like unsweetened apple juice. I have read it's great for leaky gut syndrome, candida and if you have an allergy to wheat it'll suppress the damage.

Still no new zits. Maybe it's from the yogi detox tea I started drinking during it.
I have a cystic zit on my cheek that won't go down though!
I didn't have much luck with organic raw honey but maybe it'll be different with Manuka honey.
It's supposed to have more anti-bacterial properties and have read great reviews when people spot treat or wash their face with it.
I'm probably going to buy this: http://www.amazon.com/Manuka-Health-New-Ze...9955&sr=1-7
The higher the UMF the better it is. The highest I saw was +30 but it was like $70 for the same size when the +20 is $23.
Hi,
I just did a manuka honey mask last night- it was UMF 17+, and I mixed it with cinnamon. I left it on for 45 min and my skin felt great. BTW using the manuka honey was much better than regular honey because it is not as runny. Usually with honey it drips and is a mess. this stayed put. I also think the cinnamon is good for you skin. Just wanted to let you know in case you get some.
Good luck.
