that's probably the most sodium i've had in a meal in a long time so i'll see if it affects my skin.

i read that cloves help with acne scars. they should be cheap and i can pick them up at the grocery store.

i also tried trumatch liquid foundation yesterday and my heart broke. it showcased how dry my skin was. yikes. i stick with powder and it still shows dry skin but there's nothing i can do.

until i find a lotion that works as well as jojoba oil and doesn't clog my pores, idk what to do when it comes to putting on makeup.

jojoba oil looks gross under makeup. how sad.

well i weighed myself this morning and it said 113.

not good.

i ate 900 calories worth of brown rice yesterday but that didn't add anything!

i read that i'm going to have to eat 3500 for one pounds. greatt...

ok so i think if i eat think thin bars that it might help.

"Our all natural high protein thinkThina bars are draped in rich delicious chocolate and delivers 20g of protein. Rated one of the top protein bars in the natural industry, thinkThin is the ONLY naturally sugar-free, high protein bar for an active lifestyle. Our thinkThin bars also appeal to consumers with special dietary needs because they are gluten free, have 0g of sugar and offer diabetics an alternative healthy protein snack.

* Gluten Free

* 20g Protein

* 0g Sugar

* No Cholesterol

* Fortified with 18 Essential

Vitamins & Minerals"

i've tried one before and it tasted fine. they are a little more expensive than luna bars but luna bars don't have as much protein or calories. the average is 180 while think thin bars could be in the 300's last time i saw one.

i might also look into eating total cereal but i'm not sure since it's not gluten free and the GI on it is hard to find. nutritiondata.com says 14 which is crazy low and other sites with giant lists say 76.

i'm on a low gi diet for a reason. otherwise i would be eating cakes and cookies to gain weight.

i do eat cereal but it's perky o's which are gluten free.

maybe i should eat oatmeal/granola instead to get calories.

i got another small pimple on my chin that i'm sure spread and isn't from something i ate. i have a couple pin sized zits by my lip and forehead which means something rubbed against it and i have been itching there so it makes sense.

yesterday i had a kashi chewy bar and it had 10 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber but 31 grams of sugar and has gluten with chocolate.

it tasted like heaven but it was like a candy bar so if i break out it might explain it.

i also tried a soy joy bar. probably nothing bad in those.

i'm addicted to brown rice haha. it's cheap, filling and good for my stomach.

i don't have any cystic pimples right now but a pimple by my mouth came back. not sure if it'll come to head.

i want to go back to regular toothpaste so bad. the fluoride free toothpaste i have been using is so dull and lacks mint flavor but i've read too many articles on fluoride being bad to go back.

i stopped the lemon on my face for a couple days now. last night i rubbed garlic over my acne scars. it didn't burn like crazy like i have read in reviews.

it's supposed to disinfect. i just want to lighten these red marks!

oh and tomorrow i have a doctor's appointment to get my hormone blood test. :)

i went to the doctor today. i told him i wanted the hormone and allergy test because of my acne.

of course he lectured me on how those aren't the reasons i have acne and it's something else.

i wanted to roll my eyes. not like he can deny me getting the tests so i just sat there listening to the same thing i've heard over and over from my dermatologist.

i got the hormone test done today. supposedly there are 3 parts of the test and in a week i'll know one and maybe tomorrow i'll know one too.

the allergy test i'll have to go to a specialist for.

i believe that these little pimples i'm getting is from the way i sleep. it's really cold in my room so i end up sleeping with my blanket over my head which in the middle of the night probably touches my face without realizing it. ha, probably weird thinking about someone sleeping with it over their head...

i guess i should stop that.

i think i'm going to look into licorice root extract for lightening my scars. there aren't many posts on it when i searched this site. not sure if i'm going to take it orally or topically. topically scars me more.

So, I guess I'm going to try and keep gluten out of my diet for even longer after reading this!

Long story short: Gluten grains are bad for everyone.

" * Highly allergic, especially grains containing gluten. Allergic reaction always involves the immune system, and that means more inflammation and more acne. Dr. Graham: "All of us respond adversely to gluten consumption. Celiac disease affects everyone who consumes gluten, to some degree."

* Irritates the digestive track and may lead to nutrient deficiencies. Grains contain insoluble fiber which is not compatible with the human digestive system. We need soft, soluble fiber from fruits and vegetables not the coarse and sharp insoluble fiber from grains.

* Absolutely tasteless and unappealing. To make grains palatable you need to add spices and eat them with other foods; usually fat or protein. This creates a terrible food combination where neither grains or the food eaten with them is digested completely. Further difficult food combinations require huge amounts of energy to digest even partially, leaving you drained.

* Addictive. How often do you crave fruits and vegetables? Probably never. But how often you get cravings for starchy foods? Probably very often. Gluten grains contain addictive chemicals that cause withdrawal symptoms once you stop eating them.

"The peptides from gluten and casein are important because the react with opiate receptors in the brain, thus mimicking the effects of opiate drugs like heroin and morphine. These compounds have been shown to react with areas of the brain such as the temporal lobes, which are involved in speech and auditory integration."

http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/gluten-casein.html

Also see: Celiac Notes: Opiate Withdrawal from Gluten and Casein?

* Easy to overeat. Complete carbohydrates in whole grains take long time to digest. Since they take long time to affect blood sugar levels our brains don‚„t get the signal that we have eaten enough. So we often eat until we are stuffed. Overeating leads to insulin resistance, weight gain and other health problems (including acne). On the other hand, it‚„s almost impossible to overeat with fruits since they are digested quickly and the brain gets the signal that we have eaten enough and turns off hunger.

This was just a small sample of dangers of grains. Hopefully it‚„s enough to get you thinking the next time you want to get a sandwich."

I got it from http://blog.natural-acne-solution.com/

That guy talks a lot but it supposedly is to all come together at the end but to me it's all the same mumbo jumbo so i skim through a lot of it.

Almost 1 month ago in December I had a huge breakout from the chemical peel I used and now I'm clear from it! Yay. But I got maybe 10 more red marks left because of it. I could kick myself for letting that happen.

My weight however has suffered because of my diet. I have lost 11 pounds. I was averaging 124 and the lowest I got was 113. I normally don't notice the gap between my legs because I wear regular shoes but the other day I went shopping for heels and wow, it really showcased them. I was a little frightened to be honest and felt like a freak! I know that if I told that to my overweight friend I would get chewed out by them :ninja: .

This was/is my current regime for the last month:

Vitamins: A+D,B+C,E, Chromium, Magnesium, Zinc, Probiotics, 2 Baby Aspirin, Odorless Garlic

I drink: Half a gallon of water and 1 or 2 glasses of lemon water a day

Face: I use Papaya Likas Soap to take my L.A Minerals mineral makeup off. Otherwise I just rinse with water or use a wash cloth.

After washing (I don't use this all at one time): Jojoba oil, Aloe vera gel, Rose water, rubbing garlic [at night], Mint julep mask, BP 10%, Burt bee's radiance serum [only on forehead and under eyes]

Main diet staples: Gluten, dairy & nut free with low G.I foods.

Wow. I have to say that I believe the garlic is doing something! The red marks on my face are fading and breaking apart. Some would be giant blobs but now they're separate. I tried taking photos but it made me feel like crap because it makes it look like they're worse! But in the end it's about what I think looks good and I think it's getting better.

I completely stopped the lemon on my face and got less of those little pimples.

I have one tiny one in the middle of my forehead from touching it and one last one by my mouth that was from the chemical peel that came back.

they are small and not huge so that's good.

I also have gained some weight. I woke up this morning at 118. I'd like to be 125 again. I just want to get some fat in my face!

I never even got PMS break out like I normally do.

Oh and I started doing a nutmeg and honey mask to lighten the scars.

i got a tiny pimple that came to head overnight so i know it's not hormonal. the hormonal ones for me are cystic and stick around long.

i think i know why i'm breaking out on my cheeks and little bumps here and there. the seban pads might explain it. it's the only place i put it.

there was a 10 for $10 chewy kashi bars but i need to be strict and no dairy especially chocolate. :(

i do love making my own granola. i take two cups of rolled oats. put it on a cookie sheet on 300 and take it out when they brown. add honey, butter, cinnamon melted over it and stir.

oh and i got my hormone test results. the doctor said it was "normal". i guess it's bad i was a little mad/sad it came back normal. i suppose my hormones aren't the problem. on thursday i have an allergy test set up. i hope this guy is more open to the idea that food allergies cause acne than the last doctor.

I had to cancel my allergy test today. You know when it's too cold and dangerous to drive when the INSIDE of your car has ice freezing on the glass.

It's okay though because I got it rescheduled to the 26th.

I would not be surprised if I broke out in the next couple of days. Last night I got barely any sleep because I was worrying about making in it on time for that early appointment and the sleeping pill never kicked in how I wanted it.

I hate how whenever I lay down my heart start racing like I have a panic attack. I used to get bad panic attacks especially during school but now it rarely happens unless I'm laying down.

My stress has been down and I'm noticing it. I was HORRIBLE at handling stress and behold, back then my acne was at its worst.

I have been eating the gluten free brownies all day. They are so sugary that it's bound to do some damage.

Oh and I reached my regular weight again! woo.

I went grocery shopping and am going to make my own salsa. I bought green pepper, onion, garlic, tomatoes and sea salt. I think that's all you need..

I also bought tortillas that have whole wheat in it instead of going gluten free. That's the only thing that I would be eating that has wheat in it. Otherwise the Perky flax cereal is gluten free.

Still keeping brown rice as a staple. I also bought salmon, apples, red grape fruit, broccoli, water, lemons, green beans and soy milk. I'm probably forgetting something.

Long story short: My skin is looking nice. However my shine control powder sucks and looks cakey since I can't control the oil under my makeup.

"You have to be careful with nuts, because they contain so much fat. Too much fat, leads to blood sugar issues and acne - especially if you eat lots of fruits.

Food allergies is one possible explanation. Maybe you eat something you are allergic to. Allergens activate the immune system, which leads to more inflammation and possibly more acne.

Maybe you are just going through a detox and that breaks you out. As toxins and poisons leave your body they increase inflammation and can lead to breakouts. The breakouts will get less intense over time and eventually stop altogether."

I updated the first page and entry

Here are photos of what my skin has endured. I can't believe I still have skin on my face. I can't imagine having a pimple come up, stick around for weeks and then have it happen over and over again for 7 years. I picked out the photos where my acne was at its worst or the worst I had on camera. There were times I felt so sick I couldn't take a picture of it.

By the way, the green spot on my face is the mint mask over a popped pimple. I didn't feel like cleaning it off.

You know what I find funny? I remember I was taking so many vitamins, mostly extracts of stuff and my skin wasn't any better. Maybe it is better if you don't fill yourself up with those and just keep the essentials.

I also have been swaying off my diet. Nothing major but I had been eating sweets like brownies, cookies, chips, etc [Haha, all gluten free though!]. But no new cystic acne. I can't remember that last time I got a cystic pimple on the side of my face. Man, those were the worst. I don't know what caused those either.

For some reason about one month after I got rid of my cats they stopped!

I do have one pimple though and it's on my cheek which I'm sure is from the Seban pads or itching my face. Otherwise nada.

Spicey food doesn't make me break out either. I have been making my own bean burritos with onions, garlic, peppers, tomatoes but nothing new.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be eating T.V dinners and cheesy popcorn though.

Hmm on the right side of my face I am getting those bumps that are under the skin but not inflamed.

The ones I had months ago on my left side have sort of went away.

I wonder if it is keloid scars. i have a couple of those scars on my back from acne but it's not the same I guess since the ones on my face are hard lumps.

Ok so it's been more than a week since I ate those sugary brownies and I didn't break out from it. Very interesting. I also don't break out from rolled oats which is good because it's $1.75 for a huge tub.

This is what I ate today:

Half a red grapefruit

1 lemon in water

3 bowls of beans [cooked with onions, garlic, green peppers and topped with dijon mustard. lol it tasted good]

1 bag of brown rice

4 apples [i always eat them after a meal since I don't get sugar from my other food]

I'm not even going to complain about my diet lacking food I like because I really DO like brown rice, apples and beans!

I started soaking my own beans. I don't think I'll ever go back to canned with that gross calcium chloride goo that comes from it. Plus I'm saving a lot of money buying dry.

I look at photos from 2008 and wonder why I even had acne so bad. I question what I could be doing so wrong that I would get 5 cystic pimples overnight and now I don't break out.

I got a call from my regular doctor saying that I'm not allergic to gluten/celiac but I don't think that's going to stop me from keeping gluten free. My grocery store has a big section of organic and gluten free products. I just won't worry as much if I eat something that's whole wheat which I did yesterday. It did have dairy cheese on it though. So we'll see if I get anything.

I still have the full allergy blood test on monday.

Today I bought ACV and used it diluted after I washed my face with Papaya Likas Soap. It doesn't smell that bad and takes the shine off my face and makes it look smooth.

My current problems are the red marks left behind [of course] and the oil that comes up under my makeup. I can't seem to find powder or something to hold off the shine.

I have been eating larger portions [of healthy food] and have been noticing I wake up with very oily skin. and throughout the day. Maybe it's from the ACV. It's not as strong when soaking up oil like Rosewater is and I don't dilute either.

But I have read how overeating can give acne so we'll see!

No new acne so far.

Tomorrow is the allergy doctor.

I got my allergy test done today. I did not expect the test to be done like that at all. They take these little pricks with the food in it and poke your skin. If you get a rash then you're considered allergic. The only one that itched really bad was the control positive. They did 62 pricks on my back.

My doctor asked why I was getting the test and I said for my acne. He was confused. He said, "Food allergies doesn't cause acne." My regular doctor even said it does, haha. I said, "Well, I read in books that food allergies cause inflammation in the body and inflammation can lead to acne."

He replied with, "Inflammation doesn't cause acne. Did you see a dermatologist?"

I thought, "Here we go again. Whatever."

It doesn't matter what they say anyways. I got my test and he surprisingly said I wasn't showing an allergic reaction to dairy like I told him I know for sure I was. I overheard and the lady said there were a couple reactions so I must be allergic to something!

I'll know soon I guess. I went over to the hospital and got my blood drawn too.

I really wish I didn't have dry skin. It looks horrible under makeup yet gets really oily an hour later which confuses the heck out of me.

I got the last batch of my allergy test done. This time they did my back AND my arm. My arm was injected with an actual needle like 12 times. Not fun.

But it did tell me that I was allergic to pollen, mold, dust and the typical allergens.

Oh and..

I'M ALLERGIC TO CATS.

I knew I was "somewhat" allergic because of the itchy eyes after petting them but I thought everyone had it at one point or another. I never broke out in hives unless you say the severe cystic acne was the same as hives, ha. My Dad would always say, "Maybe it's the "cat dust" that is making you break out."

Maybe he was partially right. I lived with them for 10 years and a month after I gave them away my skin started to clear up and I stopped getting cystic acne on my side of my face.

I might get my blood results next week or I might have to wait till FEB for my results :(. I know I'll have to wait till Feb (doctor on leave) for my food results and that's all I care about.

My skin is looking worn down this past week because I haven't been sleeping and not drink enough water but I will be changing that.

I'm looking into different carrier oils to use on my face. People say jojoba oil is best for acne prone skin but I want something different this time.

Ho-hum. I'm getting pin sized pimples now all over like on my forehead, mouth, nose and cheeks. I swear it has to be from the jojoba oil not sinking in well even though I rub it in the best I can.

Not sure what I can do to moisturize those areas with. Jojoba oil sinks in fine everywhere else.

I have my perfect face soap not moisturizer.

Yesterday I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/100%25-Pure-Hydratio...t/dp/B001GKM24U

For one oz for pom. oil i would be paying the same price for 2oz of this product so we'll see. The only thing that concerns me is the vitamin e and wax.

I have read good reviews with people who have sensitive skin.

Again I'm dealing with the little dots across my cheeks, nose and forehead. The ones on my nose look like it after I take tweezers and try and pluck out the blackheads but I didn't do that.

I started up taking flaxseed and fish oil today. I stopped taking fish oils in the past because 3 days after I took it I got the largest cyst ever. Not sure if that was the cause but we'll see.

I bought ACV pills. So much better than actually drinking it.

I bought some evaporated goat's milk because I read how it can help dry skin but wow, it totally burned my skin after I washed it off. It took two hours to get the redness out. When it was on my skin it was really tight. It had disodium phosphate and folic acid added to it so maybe that's why.

I really had high hopes for the milk wash/mask to help my dry skin too :(.

I guess I shouldn't put hope into that pom. lotion coming either.

And another thing that I need to make a note of is that I'm switching to Ortho-tricyclen Lo instead of the regular. The lady said they were out of stock but it's the same thing.

Otherwise no big pimples. Complexion is just really dry and dehydrated even though I'm drinking a lot of water.

Skin is doing very well. No actual pimples.

I tried the goat's milk diluted and no burns. It tightens my skin like an egg white would but with no mess. Not sure if it helps dry skin like I wanted it too but oh well. No more little dots on my forehead after that either.

No cysts after taking fish oil like I thought was the cause in the past.

I really enjoy spinach. Out of all the greens I've tried spinach is probably the best. I have it with extra virgin olive oil and rice cheese sprinkled over it.

Since I stopped overloading on foods my skin isn't as oily as it was during that time when I wake up.

I've added more whole grains like whole grain pasta and tortillas. I tried making bread with oat flour and it turned out good.. the second time I tried it lol. First batch was like sticking my tongue in salt.

1.5 tablespoons of yeast

No salt [i add cinnamon and honey]

1 cup of water

6.5 cups of oat flour [oatmeal grinned up]

Stir

Ferment for 2 hours

Set oven to 450 and let bread sit for another 40 minutes

Cook for 30 minutes

It's not even a bread ha. It was more of a waffle once I split it in half to make thinner. Still is a great source for oatmeal.

Have you tried milk of magnesia under your makeup? That used to control shine for me for about 5 hours. (I don't use it anymore cuz for some reason I'm not quite as oily as I used to be!) You put just a little on a cotton pad and some water. Then wipe on your face, and then wipe off excess (or else it will leave grey marks from evaporating). Now I am just using ProActiv's blotting papers to get rid of excess shine. It's actually working really well--there is no powder on it! I think it's actually better than drug store blotting papers.
