How funny. I was about to make a post saying how I wasn't getting any flush on 300 mg of Niacin and I am getting it now. I started getting goosebumps for awhile and then I saw my hands were turning beet red and tingly. My chest started to itch, but not much. I can feel how it can be similar to a sunburn. It tingles and stings. My chest is slowly turning into a sunburn. After a couple minutes, it is stinging much more. My face is finally getting hit with it. My ears are starting to throb, but it's not painful. Now my arms are throbbing. This sort of reminds me how it feels having a massive panic attack, so it doesn't scare me much.
Anyways, I felt a HUGE cystic pimple forming on my chin when washing my face last night. It is in the beginning stages, so I hope hydrocortisone cream will wipe it out, but I can sort of see a head underground and that won't stop it. I have a little pimple on the rim of my chin and had another one on the other side, but that went away. The break out can be attributed to my period, which I normally skip for this reason!
Hopefully that huge under the skin cyst will go away from the flush?
Did another session of niacin 300 mg. I don't think I got it as bad as last time. The burning and stinging was mostly around my shoulders and chest. I ate after I took them, so that probably slowed the flush down.
The peel is basically done, but I don't know if I can see any changes.
The huge pimple on my chin I felt went down thanks to hydrocortisone cream, phew. There is still two big ones cropping up next to each other on the bottom my chin. I don't think those can be saved. Other than those, I am clear.
This may sound like a stupid questionbut what was the peel for? scars? if you had any, did it improve them? or was it hyperpigmentation?
sorry, i don't know anything about peels, would you be ok if i messaged you sometimes to ask you about it?
It was for both the red hyperpigmentation left over from acne (what I call scars) and pock marks. Yes, I would say the peels helped because it takes a layer of skin off. I don't think it will help my pock marks. Yes, it's fine to message me. 🙂
I got the emu oil yesterday. I am surprised it has NO smell. It is creamy white and has no scent. It sounds perfect just by that. I am not going to slather it all over my skin. I read that one person would spot treat her acne scars, so I am trying that. I am also using it on the two popped pimples I had on my chin. Otherwise, my skin is clear. I can really start to see the holes in my face, argh.
Ever since I stopped using the PCA Pigment Bar, my skin isn't as tight and irritated, which is nice.
Ugh. That emu oil broke me out bad. I have two large pimples on the bottom of my chin and that was the place I put it! I used a plain yogurt mask with honey and lemon. My skin feels soft, sort of dry too. It looks brighter, which is nice, but I know that is temporary. I hope I washed it off well enough. I'd hate to break out from that too .
Skin still looks like a mess. I realized that after I did my TCA weeks ago, I wondered why I was still getting random white heads. At the time, I was also using Cetaphil wash! I thought I was breaking out because the fresher new skin was sensitive, but it ended up being the Cetaphil cleanser all ALONG. Gahh
Here is something I wrote on another site regarding my breakouts:
I had been using the Cetaphil face wash for about 2-3 weeks and was noticing random pin sized white heads on my face popping up since the beginning, but blamed it on something else like I wasn't washing my face enough.
I wrote down on the 17th that my skin was looking great, as in no break outs.
On the 18th, I tried Everyday Minerals. By the way, this was the old version of Everyday Minerals without the lauroyl lysine. I washed that off with a different soap, not Cetaphil. I have not put on any makeup since then.
On the 23rd, I complained about having a breakout on my chin, and more little breakouts. I was using some areas with emu oil for a couple days before that, but I stopped that right away after seeing the breakouts. I didn't use the emu oil on my entire face.
After that, I don't know what exact day, my entire face, even my forehead which rarely breaks out, exploded with 50+ little white heads. There were many clusters of whiteheads. I never had this bad of reaction before so fast.
I feel like it's been over a week dealing with these breakouts and they seem to keep popping up. You'd think it would die down after stopping Cetaphil, emu oil and Everyday Minerals right? This is confusing me. I haven't eaten anything bad either to affect my skin. All of these breakouts are pin sized, not cystic like you'd expect from PMS.
I am worried the most if it is the Everyday Minerals because I'd like to try that again, but would hate to have this reaction! Have any of you had a bad reaction like I have with Everyday Minerals?
I counted 6 big cystic pimples forming under the skin. Two are along my jaw line, one of the top of my cheek and the rest are on my chin. They all seem to be in the hormonal area. Ugh. Those are the hardest to get rid of and control. I used neem oil on one of them overnight and it seems to have changed a little bit.
I have been eating more fats like olive oil and I remember reading in the past how fats can mess up your hormones. I am sensitive to fats, so that was a bad idea for me. I have been trying to gain weight. I dropped down to 112 and I'm 5'7'', so that's a bad combination. Quick search said, " The body needs dietary fat to produce testosterone." aka: breakouts for me.
"This does not mean that eating more fat results in higher testosterone levels, but it is clear that a low-fat diet can lower testosterone levels.
In that study, subjects eating a moderate fat diet exhibited higher testosterone levels than subjects eating low-fat diet.
More importantly, the Penn State researchers showed that the effect of dietary fat on testosterone levels depended on the kind of fat consumed. Specifically, they found that monounsaturated and saturated fat raise testosterone levels, but polyunsaturated fat does not."
I finally realized how to use honey. I used to hate it and only used it if I got burned on my face from something. I use honey to draw the pimple puss out. It only works for me if the pimple is headless. Almost overnight, it'll have a head pop up rather than staying a red angry bump for a longer period of time. It doesn't work if you already have a head on it, or so it seems for me. I use BP 10% if it has a head on it.
Online I bought Mario Badescu's Enzyme Cleansing Gel. It has grapefruit and papaya extract, which I have used in the past. My sister used to wash her face with grapefruit seed extract, but that was too harsh for my skin. My Likas soap has papaya in it. The gel has great reviews. I hope it works well for me. I need something to help with dead skin since I hate exfoliating because it is harsh to keep rubbing it off.
Oh and all those little pimples I got from the Cetaphil are gone. I am dealing with the cystic pimples and smaller pimples on my chin from eating more fat this month bleh!
I did a TCA peel on the acne scars/red marks again.
My skin is back to being clear. I still have the red marks, of course, so that still makes my skin look bad and being very pale doesn't help either.
I wonder if I'll ever cave and try hydroquinone for the red marks. TCA peels on the red marks works so slowly. It takes a week+ to heal/scab from the TCA.
I have been using the Mario Badescu Enzyme Gel Cleanser for about 2 or 3 days now. I have read reviews where it took a week to see breakouts from the product, so I'll wait and see. I don't like the fragrance that comes from the cleanser, but I guess it's natural since it doesn't say "fragrance" on the ingredient list.
No breakouts on my skin right now.
I don't think the Mario cleanser is going to break me out. My skin has been looking nice even after using it, so that's a good sign .
I am going to try and spot treat my red marks with a retinoid from Neutrogena, but it'll probably irritate it too much and break me out like I remember it did last time.
My whole face has been really irritated more lately. I don't think it's from the anti-wrinkle cream I mentioned above because I only spot treated. I have been washing with oatmeal thinking that might calm it, but it doesn't. I guess the Mario Badescu cleanser is too harsh for my skin.
I think I am going to try MSM pills next. It can be bought at a drugstore and it's cheap. I had some MSM pills in the past, but it had glucosamine in it and that's made from shellfish, and I avoid that.
" MSM is a naturally-occurring source of organic sulfur that is easily absorbed and used by the body. Taken up from the soil by plants, MSM found in foods is largely lost during food processing, storage and cooking.
MSM supports organ and joint function by donating sulfur for maintenance of healthy connective tissue. MSM helps keep skin, hair and nails healthy by donating sulfur for production of keratin, a fibrous protein. "
It helps with inflammation and I clearly have a problem with that.
