I wouldnt say I have been clear on this regimen. Ive been clearer but definitely not clear. In fact, Im actually breaking out a lot on my cheeks now. They have always been red and Ive had white bumps there but Im getting more them and some pimples. I am looking foward to the days where I can just use topicals and then the days where I dont have acne anymore
Yes - I'm pretty sure everyone on the org is looking forward to those days as well lol! It will be so nice when you can simply wash, moisturize, treat a little if needed, then that's it! I'm always amazed at how some people have absolutely flawless skin... on their face, neck, arms, everywhere... with no marks of any kind. Here's to those days! (toasts with champagne lol)

My mom has flawless skin.

Mine too! I ordered some stuff from EDM and had it sent to her house since they don't ship to APO (ridiculous) and she was asking me questions about it. I told her that it is really good for acne-prone skin and she's like "oh, maybe I should use it". I'm like "for what??". She says "so that way I definitely won't ever get a pimple". She thought she was being cute/funny but seriously, no, this woman rarely ever gets a bump on her face. Growing up I can count on one hand the number of times she got a pimple. I want to say she's had like 3.
In a way, I agree...I have been going through this log and it seems you are trying tons of different things everyday which is only resulting in more irritation and breakouts. I completely understand, I was exactly the same way before trying DKR. Without this supportive site I would have never stuck with it either, I'm sure of it. One night I would try Mario Badescu drying lotion and the next tea tree oil. It resulted in horrible cystic acne on my problem areas (jawline). yuck. You said you have a bad reaction to the BP? Maybe you were using too much too early? I think if you would have used jojoba oil before applying BP it wouldn't be so awful. That is what I do and it's working awesome..anyway, I hope you're able to find something that works and stick with it so it has a chance to work for you effectively! )
Sorry I havent been on the org much lately. Ive fallen in love with watching make up videos on youtube and Ive been working of course. Well, Im off Septra for now and my skin hasnt reacted as horribly as I thought it would. I only have a few pimples. The Everyday Minreals and MAC are really helping me. In fact, I have another EDM order coming hopefully by thursday. Ive been washing with the mario badescu, applied a small amount of Dans bp and Dans moisturizer. The combination hasnt irritated my skin this time around

Glad to hear your skin is cooperating! It's fun watching makeup videos! When QVC has dif vendors on like Bare Escentuals, Philosophy, etc., I love to watch them apply makeup to the models to get tips too! You could check on QVC.com in their beauty section to see when dif people will be on. It's fun to listen even though you don't buy. For example, even though you might use Everyday Minerals, application is about the same for Bare Escentuals, so it's helpful to listen to the creator of the products to see any new tips of the trade.
Ahhh let's see... I think the most important tip I've learned and believe in would be that the condition of your skin is very important when you apply your makeup (any type of makeup). If you have lots of flakes or breakouts or dryness, then your makeup will simply not go on as well as without those problems. The companies have all stressed using good products for your type of skin that will help it stay as clear as possible BUT also stress how important exfoliation is to keep it flake free. Then of course they all recommend moisturizers and sunscreen.
So after your skin is looking flake free and moisturized, they all have recommended the use of a good primer. According to what show I'm watching, that is of course the primer of choice lol. Because my skin is oily, I love to use OC Eight, but everyone finds what works best for their skin type. Whenever I've listened to them, they all emphasize primers keep the good things in and the bad things out. For example, since you would use a bit of your acne product or moisturizer BEFORE the primer, the primer kind of keeps that 'in' your skin. Then you would use the makeup products OVER your primer so that keeps the makeup from being absorbed and keeps it and dirt, etc. 'out' of your skin. To be honest, I have found my makeup lasts longer using a primer and stays more even. To me, primers help to smooth out any imperfections.
Then when your face is the perfect canvas lol, you are ready for application of makeup. Depending upon what type of makeup you use, you would then follow directions on your specific product. If you go directly to QVC.com or BareEscentuals.com, a lot of times they have makeup videos. For BE, they are very specific that you dip your favorite brush into their mineral makeup just a LITTLE TINY BIT they say, swirl it around in the lid, tap off any excess, then apply to your face in a swirling motion. I don't use their product but I've watched the video and then of course I watch them when they are on tv. I find their mineral makeup is too shiny for me. BUT, they stress you use a little bit and then apply sparingly until you are happy with the finish/coverage. They said it is better to apply too little (because you can add to it) than too much (because it's difficult to get off once it's on). After getting used to it, you will eventually learn the proper amount. Then they say it's a good idea to use concealer (their mineral one) OVER the foundation you just swirled on. Using post concealer helps to put the concealer right on whatever wasn't covered with the makeup. You can also use pre-concealer as well. So you would conceal before applying the mineral makeup. So this application tip can also be used for other mineral or loose-powder makeup. Start with a small bit and add to it until you find the perfect amount to apply.
Check out the QVC website and see when Bare Escentuals is coming on again so you can tune in if you're home. They have a spot where they can email you a show reminder so you remember to tune in. It's fun to watch sometimes!
Other than that, the other important thing I've learned about eyes is be sure you use a good undereye product to keep that area in good condition bc it ages quicker than your face, and of course use a good undereye concealer as needed and in the corner of your eyes where they meet the nose to brighten up that area that tends to get dark. I've also learned a bit of eyeliner really brings out your eyes. I would have to agree. Eyes tend to disappear sometimes, but unless you are going for a more severe eyeliner look for evening, just a bit of it blended out adds emphasis to the eyes.
The other important thing, which I always use, is an eyelash curler. I hold the eyelash curler (curling area of it) under a blow dryer on warm for a count of about 8 seconds, then make sure it's only slightly warm to the touch, then curl. The little touch of heat makes the eyelashes stay curled all day. The next thing they emphasized to help keep your lashes in place if your curl them, is a waterproof mascara is actually better than non-waterproof for curled lashes. It helps to keep out humidity. A number of articles have said this as well, however, I don't use waterproof mascara and it's totally fine. The slightly-curled eyelashes open up the eye instead of having straight eyelashes which don't give the eye a wide-opened look.
Last thing would be lips. Mine don't chap bc I always keep lip gloss or vaseline or balm on them, but if you have peeling lips, they say it's good to exfoliate them with a lip exfoliator. People even use sugar on their lips with a little vaseline to kinda smooth them, then apply balm or vaseline. You don't want cracked and dried lips! Again, as with the face, when the lips are smooth, it's easier to apply lip gloss and lipstick. Plus, it looks so much nicer.
I hope I said something you didn't know haha but those would probably be some of the most important things I've learned. It's just fun watching the shows sometimes to pick up little tips here and there.
My cheeks are feeling very itchy again. They are not bright red like they were before though
Ive been priming everyday. I use either smashbox photo finish or monistat chafing relief powder gel. My make up lasted most of the day yesterday but it kind of melts off around my nose for some reason. I use concealer there too but it still doesnt stay put the entire day. Today, I think Im gonna try concealing afterwards instead of before. Oh and yesterday when I put on my make up, I didnt tap off the excess and it lasted longer! I dont really like tapping off the excess with EDM because most of it goes in the air Speaking of EDM, I should be receiving another package from them today. I ordered beige fairly light and light medium in the semi matte and intensive formulas. I also ordered apple blush.
I think I have finally been on a regimen that works for me. Ive been using SA face washes for three months I think its been, maybe longer. Currently, I have have one new pimple that is red and its not extremely inflamed. In addition, my blackheads on my nose dont bother me as much as they did. They are becoming lighter.
Oh damn it! Just when I thought my skin is getting better, my face has an allergic reaction. My face has been itching all day. I dont think I will use that MAC mineralized skin finish naturals anymore. I think I might be allergic to the bismuth oxychloride. I applied the bp to my face tonight, waited ten minutes and then I applied his moisturizer. My face feels like its on fire right now. Its been that way since I applied the moisturizer. Sometimes that happens to me and sometimes it doesnt. Its very unpredictable. This is hurting me though
Im just not interested in this site as much as I used to. Im obsessed with youtube and make up. I only watch videos and comment. I do not make my own. I am NOT book smart or smart with language. There are different types of intelligence of course but reading is very difficult for me. Its too much information that I need to take in at once. I am a visual learner and reading definitely isnt only a verbal task. In order for me to read and learn efficiently, I need to be able to touch it, smell it, and have visual demenstrations, and practice. This site requires a lot of reading. Melanie seems like a very kind and caring person but I could barely read that last part she wrote because it was just overwhelming
My face is looking like crap again. Its been looking like this for the past few days. I have some red bumps on my forehead which is a place I never break out, I have a couple of papules on my chin, and two whiteheads under my nose. My skin is extremely dry and itchy. I think I am allergic to MAC Cosmetics. I have tried the MAC mineralized Satin Finish Naturals and MAC mineralized skin finish (I stopped the skin finish naturals after I kept itching and breaking out after using it), I very rarely use the MAC select sheer powder and I started using the MAC studio stick which I will also stop using. I mostly use Everyday Minerals though. Yesterday, I decided to switch to a new cleanser and moisturizer. Dans is burning my face again and the cleanser Im using, Im not too thrilled with either. I am using Dior now, a gel cleanser that comes in a pink tube and a Dior moisturizer.
I wish Accutane would have just killed the existing breakouts and not allowed new ones to form for you! I don't get all this initial breakout stuff when it's supposed to be shrinking the oil glands not making them more active! Gosh! I wish you a speedy IB and on to great looking skin!
I hope this change of products really helps your skin calm down, Molly! =]Thank you sweetie! My skin really does look like utter crap 🙁 Plus, Im so tired of all these blackheads on my nose; there are over a hundred of them
After all the money and time you have spent trying new things bc you didn't think you could continue using your fav SkinCeuticals, perhaps in the end, the money you spent on the SkinCeuticals would have been worth it?! Are you still taking your Septra? If you are, then you can always go back to your SkinCeuticals cleanser again bc you know it worked SO well and cleared your skin right up in that regimen of cleanser, mask, Septra.
One thing you have going for you is the fact you found a wonderful regimen that works, so you don't have to get really bad and frustrated not having something that works. Then after you're clear, you can do the whole try out one new product at a time thing so you don't overwhelm your sensitive skin with too many new variables.
Good luck and hope that new cleanser and moisturizer calm down your skin. 😀
